Vegan Red Velvet Cake

@@GretchensVeganBakery In Duncan Hines Red Velvet, it's Red 40 (also known as Allura Red AC), which is synthetic and derived from coal tar or petroleum. Technically vegan. The crushed insects you may be thinking about (which is definitely NOT vegan) is another red dye called carmine or cochineal, and would be listed in the ingredients that way. They put it in tons of stuff like candies and juices - but not Duncan Hines cakes. Back to your regularly scheduled vegan food joy!

Gretchen I remember you making this cake back then. The design is simple. The cornily lace I have the instructions how to pipe it on a Xerox copy someone in my class gave me 🤣🙂 DH is vegan for sure I've made cakes with them. But this cake came out beautifully Gretchen. ❤️🙂
