Mofongo is a puerto rican staple and it’s literally mushed plantains usually in a mortar bowl filled with vegetables or meat; so this kind of plantain is prepared in a more savory way vs sweet!! ✨

What a fun mix of food! Maduro aka yellow plantains are the ones you need to worry about since you don't like the sweet savory thing but tostones, mangu and mofongo almost always use green plantains so they typically won't be sweet.

lil french tip here: "et" is pronounced "aye." A lot of times the final letters in french, like the "t" here, arent pronounced which is confusing but c'est la vie!
@GS-lq2is4 жыл бұрын
Um, isn't "et" pronounced like may without the m? "Aye" is pronounced like "eye."
@luciabauza32474 жыл бұрын
@@GS-lq2is yes, it’s pronounced like maybe without the m. I meant aye like when you greet someone and you’re like ayyyyee. Not pronounced like eye (i guess it’s like that in British English maybe)
@GS-lq2is4 жыл бұрын
@@luciabauza3247 Hahaha, fair enough - when I see ayyyyee, I can only think of the Fonz :) When I see "aye," I think of sailors - like "aye, aye, Captain." Of course, English has insanely inconsistent pronunciation - as shown by the fact you could spell fish as "ghoti." It's always kind of amazing to me that anyone manages to learn English as a second language. If anyone hasn't heard of the "ghoti" thing - - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghoti
@JoCWC4 жыл бұрын
I hate to be this person but you're both pronouncing it wrong! It's a very subtle "eh" and that's it. No "y" in there at all. And that's if it's supposed to be French. Perhaps it's actually a cajun thing and pronounced differenty. Sorry, couldn't not say something.

@@bodegacatx I usually just make tostones and after they’re crispy, mash em’ up with some pan-seared sausage (breakfast or other crumble) and a bunch of garlic. I guess you could try bacon strips alternatives, if you like any, cut up, instead of the sausage. Oh no, does this mean Berto’s not made tostones either?! 😨 Funny you should mention kibbeh since I grew up eating a Dominicanized version (of the Lebanese one) called quipes / kipes that used bulgur. Small world!
