1- 17 and 18 are generally around the same strength, but each is built different. #17 is more defensive oriented due to his shields while 18 is more offensive oriented with her abilities. #16 is around Cell's strength AFTER Cell had nom nom nom'd a few cities. 2- In the Manga canon, Trunks is actually very very surprised that Vegeta is managing to handle the androids on his own as much as he did at the start.

Story mechanic wise, they would keep goku out of the story for as long as they could, so that when he does show up, you get that holy shit factor and he comes in and cleans house. You can't just ahve him come in and clean house right from the get go. it would be boring. like nappa wipes the whole gang. Goku shows up and wipes nappa. we all cheer. Then we get the real fight against vegeta Ginyu force wipes the whole gang. Goku shows up and wipes the ginyus. Then we get the whole body swap thing Freize wipes the whole gang. goku shows up and fights freeza on an even playing feild. Then we get the super saiyan fight.

It was the last episode of DBZ and it was meant to be the cannonical conclusion to the entire Dragon Ball franchise and, chronologically speaking, it still is. A weird thing about all of Gero’s creations. Every time he makes something new, it’s weaker than the last. Cell > 16 (cell is meant to combine, so his final form counts as him being stronger) > 17 > 18 > 19~20. And it still bugs me to this day, probably along with a lot of other people, that they’re all called androids. The only androids in all db are 8 and 16. The terminator one was almost an android, but not quite. Still a robot. Lastly, imagine Freezas science team had gotten hold of Gero’s technology to rebuild freeza.

To answer your question, yes. Android 16 is the strongest, followed by 17 and 18 is the weakest. However, the difference in power between 17 and 18 isn't that huge. Its a small yet noticeable power difference. Fun fact: In Dragon Ball, you only need about a 25-30% power difference to dominate them. However, if the power difference is larger, it is completely one sided like Goku vs Nappa or Goku vs Racoome. This is actually much closer of a fight than people think. Its not like she's twice as strong as Vegeta here. Their power difference is probably as much as second state Zarbon vs Vegeta at Namek as Vegeta can still track her, keep up with her and land hits on her and she does have to hit him more than once to knock his ass out. Though, 17 is quite a bit stronger than 18. He probably would have one shot Vegeta.

17's not THAT much stronger than 18. through dialogue evidence, he's only 2-3% stronger than her. 5% at best. I can say that through the Android 17 vs Piccolo fight(after Piccolo fused with Kami) . While Piccolo was around equal to 17 during that fight, 18 said "I would like to fight him too" or something along those lines. If 17 was considerably stronger than her, she wouldn't have said that.

Yeah, but Goku vs Nappa wasn't actually that one sided after Vegeta told Nappa to focus and once Nappa did, Vegeta even commented that their fight would last forever. In fact, if Goku was that much stronger than Nappa, he wouldn't need Kaioken to catch up to him when Nappa went for Gohan and Kuririn. I believe Nappa's shock to hearing the whole "over 8.000" thing was more of a "oh shit, this low-level warrior on par with me?" (Also, forgive any typo or spelling, english is my second language)

@Salt-sensei Isn't his power lev 4,500 and hypothetical max 7,500? Also the moment he went Kaioken, not even Kaioken x2, he one shot Nappa. Goku with Kaioken was over 8,000, at least 8001 and yet he won easily. Again That's like saying a match isn't close because base Goku from Buu arc isn't couldn't beat SSJ2 Majin Vegeta. Why wouldn't he go Super Saiyan 2? When you talk about Goku vs someone. You're taking in account all the techniques and transformation that multiply his power in account.

@@dbzrocks3886 2-3% wouldn't be noticeable difference. The data book specifies his power wasn't as suppressed. So I'd assume the difference is between 5-10%. Rather than 2-3%. Remember, Kaioken Goku and Nappa had a difference of 6.1% but if Goku hadn't basically jumped Nappa by suddenly increasing power, it would have been a long fight according to Vegeta, who had seen Goku power up to over 8000 before. So I think that is probably the similar if not the same difference that those two have, the difference being their fight would be quite similar with 17 holding the edge at times but otherwise a pretty lengthy fight.

What's an interesting detail is almost every character in Dragonball at rest is typically no tougher than we humans are, or at the very least are superhuman enough that bullets only scuff them. It's when the ki is raised that their aura becomes visible and they achieve heightened armor against attacks. It's this armor why so many fights have the iconic punching flurry sessions or ki spam volleys, because you need to whittle that armor down in order to perform the real damage. That's where this fight comes in. Though 18 spends the whole fight beating Vegeta's ass, unlike most fights, she takes her time and specifically waits for Vegeta to get back up and initiate before attacking him again. She isn't going at him constantly, she's actually allowing him time to breathe, which would actually allow him time to bolster his ki-related defenses before continuing the fight. However, Vegeta looked like he was in a bad way right before the iconic arm break kick, so one of two things happened here. 18 either: Had finally broken through Vegeta's defenses with all those powerful, calculated strikes and Vegeta in his outrage never bothered significantly re-raising his ki. or Kicked Vegeta so hard that not even all the ki-related defenses in the world could have saved him. Either one is scary.

The most common thing with abridged series is basically charicaturizing the characters. Take one of their most faulty aspects and upping it to 11 until it's basically their personality. Such as goku not having formal education, so turn him into a moron. Vegeta talks about saiyan pride, so make him completely egotistical. That kinda stuff
