The soup & cornbread looks good. I am fixing chicken enchiladas, Spanish rice, refried beans, and cherry coke salad for supper. Two of our grown children, & son’s girlfriend are on the way here and will spend the weekend putting lawn soil & grass seed on the bare spots in our yard. I am grateful for their help but our son’s girlfriend is a picky eater and not used to southern cooking since was raised in Illinois. She thinks I am poisoning her if I fix grits, collard greens, etc. My son requested the meal for tonight’s supper.

My grandmother called it "everything but the kitchen sink soup!" She would save bits and pieces of any veggies left over from meals in a zip bag(s) kept in the freezer with the cooking liquid. When the bag(s) were full, add a few taters, and it was SOUP TIME!! I do this too in the winter. Of course there was cornbread, too. I sure do miss my MawMaw, but always think of her when I make this meal. We too eat on it for days.God bless y'all!

❤Happy Friday, my friends! When you’re talking soup, you’re talking my language! I love this soup. I call it Hamburger Soup. I used to add a couple of diced potatoes to mine, but after I tried the canned diced potatoes I just use a large can of regular mixed vegetables, (I would like to use frozen but they always have an overload of green beans in them) I love green. BEans but not so many in my soup. I use a quart of canned tomatoes or a large can of stewed tomatoes. I put some beef broth in and if I have Lima beans I put a small can of them in. This is all with my hamburger/onion mixture. I add dried parsley to almost everything I cook because of its health value. If I want macaroni in mine I wait until my soup has simmered as long as it needs to then add my noodles. Continue until noodles are done. This way they don’t get mushy. Or on day 2 or 3 you can change your soup to goulash by adding the noodles then and I add a pretty good sprinkling of dried Parmesan cheese like you put on spaghetti. It really makes a difference in the taste. I learned this last ingredient from a creator’s Nana. I’m happy to know y’all are having a restful weekend! God bless!! ❤🙏🏻
