How is vegetarian meat made
Well, a number of ingredients like plant based proteins, soy, potato protein, pea protein, mung bean protein and even rice protein are used in the process. These ingredients combined with other ingredients give the perfect chewy texture and juiciness to the vegetarian meat as well.
Soy, wheat, pea and fava proteins, as well as starches, flours, hydrocolloids (non-digestible carbohydrates used as thickeners, stabilizers and emulsifiers, or as water retention and gel-forming agents) and oils, can make a plant-based meat more or less similar to the animal meat it is trying to replicate.
One of the most popular methods is taking the DNA from the roots of soy plants. Similar to how some beer is made, this DNA is put inside genetically engineered yeast, which is then fermented. At the end of this process, a plant-based heme is created and can be used to make vegan meat taste like the real thing.
