I like to believe that the personality of a fused character is influenced by whether the fusion was done through Potara or the fusion dance. Vegito takes on the pride of Vegeta and the childishness of Goku to create a cocky snarker, while Gogeta takes on Vegeta's ruthlessness and Goku's moral compass to produce this badass.

No, it's really THAT bad. First off, the horrible rap theme song. Next, the fact that they make NO USE of Pan (who at the end of Z was supposed to be the next big fighter). Third, they killed Piccolo...For good, which is a poor move as Piccolo is an absolute fan favorite. Fourth, Goku was turned into a kid...For literally no reason. Put it this way the difference between the earrings and the Fusion Dance is the earrings combine their full power no power down needed where the dance requires equal power forcing the stronger one to power down think of it like this Goku as a power level 8 vegeta has a power level of 7 the earrings would combine them to and add three giving a total of 8+7+3=18 what the dance Goku would have to power down to Vegeta so that would be Goku power level is 7 Vegeta power level is 7 + 7 +3 that is 17. The 17power aka Gogeta last 30mins 18power aka Vegeto last 1hr minimum. Best way to look at it. Both fusions adapt the stronger characteristics as a host Vegeto/goku because higher power but with Gogeta/Vegeta, vegeta hides his true power from goku so when goku trys to lower to even hes a bit off that's why it's more like vegeta than goku... mic drop....

Let's look at the evidence, Goku is the only Ssj to go to level three correct, Vegeta cant even do the transformation in DBZ. but Trunks and Goten, who are nowhere near the level of Vegeta individually, can do it in fusion, which at the time was more powerful than Vegeta SSJ2 /majin Vegeta..... so within those facts you should understand your equation a little better. On that note, Goku 8+ Vegeta 7 at Potara with the 3 you added = 18 and then you have Goku 7 + Vegeta 7 at fusion with 3 you added = 17. but you fail the mention that fusion also increases in multiples, the sum of both characters, which would then be 17 x 2=42. i know it sounds like a rant, but bare with me. how many fights has Gogeta every been down in...... answer is 0, but Vegeto had to flee from Goku black/ Rose`

Actually, If anyone has to lower their power level to use the fusion dance it would be Vegeta. His base form has always been stronger than Goku’s. Goku only surpasses him with techniques like the Kaio Ken or Ultra Instinct, ir by achieving transformations first. But in their base forms Vegeta has the edge.

Gogeta is just cooler. I love his moveset, I love his attitude, and I love his design. But that doesn't mean I don't like Vegito, I've had so much fun in FighterZ playing with him. The multiverse dragon ball manga has my favorite iteration of Vegito too. He's just so cool. But I will always love Gogeta just a bit more.

@Mathieu L Vegetto is more popular because he played around with Buu and had a complete advantage over him, fans tend to love very powerful people and *then* their personality for example Gohan although he is my favourite it's for his personality but it seems the majority like him for his power such as SSJ2 Kid Gohan (He was 9 in manga and 11 in anime therefore not a teenager) or Ultimate Gohan. Not everyone follows this mindset but it can be obvious for those who do. For me Gogeta is cooler he was serious straight at the beginning got the job done in less than five minutes Vegetto could've done the same and brought everyone back with dragon balls rather than playing around so he could get them out albeit killing them is obviously not a choice so it's understandable. Plus the way he fought was cool, blitzing Janemba with his punches, knees him to the face and eradicates all evil in one attack my only problem is how cocky he was in GT he abandoned his serious demeanor and joked around for no good reason. I'd say the main issue about the fusions is all in how it creates the personality. The fusion dance is a mix of the two personality rather than a hybrid, it takes on the biggest part of the two party and ditches the rest, Goku when in combat is serious and strives to overcome his limits, vegeta is cold and cocky, which leads to Gogeta being cold and serious but displays some cockiness in his attacks as they are very "showy" or meant to impress and display overwhelming power. Meanwhile Vegito is a hybrid of the personalities, but as Elder Kai mentions, the stronger personality will take over the weaker one, Vegeta's pride is VERY powerful hence why the fusion is so arrogant, but it also displays Goku's playful demeanor in combat but it is mixed with Vegeta's cocky nature, it's meant to mock the adversary, as seen with Super Buu. Ultimately, the personality will play a great role in how the fusion will handle a situation, Vegito's arrogance was what caused him to not see Buu's trick but everything indicates that had it not beed for this, he was absolutely overpowering and I don't count Super's retcon about the Potara only lasting an hour if you're not a Kai, that was stupid as shit, since the fusion is meant to last forever, the new entity can learn to better their weaknesses and grow stronger over time. Meanwhile, the Fusion dance is more on the "power for the short term". The personality that Gogeta has makes him more powerful during the 30 minutes that he has since he is entirely focused on the battle itself and not at just mocking his opponent's lackings. Technically, Gotenks is also more powerful if we want to go that route, however, their personality makes the fusion too weak as a result because it's too childish and tries too hard to impress, he doesn't understand the gravity of the situation due to being too young. A more mature Gotenks would curbstomp almost anyone. All in all, the fusions strength rely heavily on the end result, especially the personality, an unfocused personality will lead to it defeat, even if in raw power it is above the enemy. If Gogeta was more like Vegito, he likely would have been beaten by Broly or at least would have suffered quite a beating before he was wished back to his home planet.

For which is the better Fusion, I'd say both have their pros and cons. Thanks to DBS giving us more info on the subject, we now know that Potara Fusion between two mortals only lasts about an hour (twice as much as the Fusion Dance fusion) and it's as simple as just putting on a piece of jewelry. However, due to the immense power up from going Super Saiyan Blue, Goku and Vegeta's Potara Fusion against Fused Zamasu was short-lived to a measly 5 minutes, as it seems the transformation made the magic of the earrings unstable. For Fusion Dance fusion, it's a pain in the ass to get the movements right (since they have to be perfectly symmetrical) and both warriors must possess the exact same level of strength in order to pull it off. And while it has less time than the Potara Fusion, it seems in the movie _Dragon Ball Super: Broly_ that the Fusion Dance fusion can withstand the immense power up from going Super Saiyan Blue. And, considering how that film ended, it's made unclear if going Super Saiyan Blue reduced the runtime of Gogeta's Fusion.

Gogeta gets the victory vs his opponent because he is a movie character. The plot needs to be resolved within a set time. Vegito being the main series fusion is basically doomed to leave his fight incomplete for plot reasons. In DBZ he could've won at any moment and he knew it. But he planned to be absorbed on purpose from the beginning so that he could separate Gohan, Trunks, Goten and Piccolo. Had it not been for the magical properties inside Buu causing him to defuse, a much better explanation than the DBS reason so i will stick with that, then he would've freed the 4 of them then proceeded to kill Buu. But you can't have the series end in such a one sided way plus Goku has to be the one to deliver the final blow. Now as for Vegito in DBS vs Zamasu it basically comes to again he can't be the one to deliver the final blow. It has to go to Trunks for the story to have meaning or else why even bother having Trunks involved in the first place. He needed to be the one to deliver the final blow. Gogeta has the convenience of being only in movies so far so you can allow him to be the one to defeat the opponent and it make sense and not really seem too much like a one sided beatdown. I personally think they are as equal as equal can be. They are made of the same two beings the only differences are the methods and times in which they fused. In all canon material there is always a huge time gap between one fusion appearance and the other so there's not really a good way to compare the two at the same level. The closest you can do is compare DBZ Vegito to Fusion Reborn Gogeta as they are around the exact same period of time even though FR doesn't fit in the actual timeline they are still both Buu saga period. And both Vegito and Gogeta completely dominate their opponent with zero effort and if allowed to just kill Buu Vegito would've had the same result Gogeta got. As for the method of fusion i think Potara is the superior version. For one thing its permanent so if you needed fusion to beat one opponent the odds are you will likely need it again. Taking their pride against fusion away having that ultimate warrior that is a fused Goku and Vegeta at all times is a use benefit. Dance allows for them to have that power as well but you need the time to perform it and hopefully get it right the first time. Old kai did say the potara was the more complete form of the fusion. Both forms have their benefit and the only real difference is Goku and Vegeta's pride of one vs the other.They both are opposed to it but Goku will be willing if its the last option as will Vegeta but he'll be opposed to it to the end. So basically they're both the same given the same situation of actually being allowed to beat their opponent without it hurting the plot. Essay over

When goku and vegeta fought buuhan, buuhan wanted them to fuse so he could have someone stronger to beat up, this is the same being that absorbed gotenks and piccolo, the same piccolo that knew that if goten and trunks fused as super saiyans they would be stronger. So if piccolo knew that and gotenks knows how much stronger each of them got after the fusion, then buuhan should too. *But* buuhan didnt know about the potara, so when buuhan was trying to get goku and vegeta to fuse, he was probably thinking about the power they would have as gogeta and was very confident he could easily beat them. But he had no way of knowing about vegito, who then beat buuhan into a corner and could have killed him if he wanted. So we can infer that a ssj3 400x multiplier onto gogetas base form would be far weaker then a *base vegito* Edit: all of this happens in dbz kai, which is cannon, so it has been confirmed by buuhan, and elder kai and therefore toriyama himself that vegito is stronger, faster, can last longer and is mabye smarter in high intensity situations then gogeta. For one the stronger member of the fusion needs to lower his power to match that of the weaker member. For the other, no such restriction is present. Let's do some math Let's say Vegeta's power is a 4 while Goku's is a 5 Also let's assume both fusions are just fighter multiplied by fighter Goku would need to lower his power from a five to a four to match vegetas. 4*4=16 If they refusing with potara Goku wouldn't have to do any such thing. 4*5=20 if you think it Gogeta is stronger than Vegito you are objectively a stupid person.

And well Vegito is a more convenient fusion as well. The dance has the chance of failing and the time it takes at least a few second to pull off. And in the middle of combat you might might not have the time to do the Fusion Dance unless someone is running interference for you.

@@wop2784 the only reason vegito blue is inferior series wise is because of the Phat zenkais from the ToP and overall power difference. It is essentially confirmed from most content covering the fusions that potara is an overall more powerful fusion. However, I believe gogeta is a better fighter because he doesnt joke around and just gets things done but vegito is a bit boasty and nonchalant.

Vegito definitely is the more powerful fusion, but I'm thinking just going by the name perhaps Vegeta's personality is a bit more in control of that fusion which is why he's got less finesse than Gogeta who I believe to be Goku being more in control of the fusion. With the potaras the two fighters powers join to make a stronger being no matter who it is, but the personality behind those abilities is where it would hurt the fusion. I mean having a guy like Satan for instance who thinks every damn ability is a trick fusing with Goku who knows its bonafide power would have just be a mess. I mean that'd be a really confused Herku. "Is this a trick? Do I really have these powers? No! I can do it!.....But what if this is a dream? Yeah! Thats it. Its all just a crazy dream. But it feels so real."

Uhh no vegito may have been more powerful in the past but that's different now. Here is how I see it vegito in the fight with fused samsun definetly would have one if they hadn't unfused but he wasn't all that more powerful just a tad bit more. Now new broly just in super saiyan would most likely destroyed him. Now gogeta in blue and broly at his absolute limit wasn't even trying like at all. Plus they apparently switch the fusions logic it was my understanding that the Potara was the fusing that on top of the combining would multiply their power as well but the broly movie said the dance does that to plus at this point I don't think goku even need to lower his power because him and vegeta should be pretty even at this point. But all that and combined with the fact akira toriyama or his staff did don't quote me on that said new gogeta is indeed more powerful. I'm on team gogeta. Anyway that my 2 cents on the matter. And just so we are clear this is my opinion if I start getting called a dumb ass or a reply from a general Ahole I will ignore you.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages, potara can defuse sooner than the dance in ssgss but gogeta only lasts 30mins. Both fusions are equal in power tho I believe. The safest option is probably gogeta as it is a finite 30mins even at full power.

this might be head cannon, but i believe the potara fusion also comes with the stipulation that the more dominant personality becomes the base for the fusion. where this is where I'm stepping out on a limb but with the metomarise fusion it forces both participants to become equal in power so it might also alter the way their personalities are mixed together. while that doesn't nessicarily mean one is better than the other, it might be used in the future as a tactic to decide which fusion is required at the time. but I also feel that torimama doesn't put that much thought into it and will just right the plot to make one or the other happen.
