A Psychiatrist sees you for 5 minutes, prescribes an anti-depressant, or asks you what drug you want to be on, come back in 6 months, do not talk about side effects , and be a patient for life while your brain and body slowly are destroyed.
@Heidi_1375 күн бұрын
100%! Everyone I know who take meds are worst! The disconnect to nature and reality just keep pushing people lower into depression and side effects will catch up as you age. It’s doesn’t take much to elevate one’s energy, go take a walk, volunteer to old folks home or animal shelter. That will help morally and see what meds do to elderly people too. Most are addicted to meds.

Dr. Rogers is stepping up with the knowledge and bravery of Dr. McDougall. I am so happy to see McDougall's legacy continue through people like him!💜💜💚💚💜💜 What an amazing story. This important chapter shows how big pharma-backed "research" can even convince a father to poison his own son.😥😥

During my time helping at my father's restaurant at age 18, my mother had a public manic episode, throwing coffee across the bar and forcing me to call for psychiatric emergency services as she would not leave on her own. Watching her being taken away on a 5150 hold was devastating. Following her 1980s bipolar diagnosis, our family endured cycles of her catatonic and manic phases before medication. While psychiatric medications provided some relief, they dulled her spirit and caused difficult side effects. She passed at 86 with early-onset dementia, having never maintained healthy eating habits or exercise. I often wonder how her diet may have influenced her mental health journey.

Dr Rogers, I was a patient of your father's ( Dr Michael Rogers) back in the late sixties. I used to see him at his home in Oak Park. I must have been 18 or 19 years old. He was a straight shooter. I learned from him a great lesson, which was, basically: Treat others the way you want to be treated. He lived quite a long time. He died about 15 years ago.

When you realize you know more than the psychiatrists does. When I was slowly tapering off Clonazepam and had finally got off the drug ( took 2 tries to get off) and went back for app. and said I am experiencing anxiety. He told me “Oh, you have an Anxiety Disorder now and need to be on an another drug! 😂😂😂By then I had researched and from blogs of others going through this, I knew it took a long time to recover from this drug, even after getting totally off it took 2 more years for me to feel normal again and have my life back, I hate these drugs, have destroyed and taken many lives.

Don’t ask why but I took one anti psychotic pill back in the day and let me tell you- I will never ever do that again. One of if the most terrifying experiences I’ve ever had, felt like crap, mind felt destabilised, zombie type energy. I was laying in bed and felt dizzy like I had drunk alcohol.

Antipsychotics are the worst. However, one pill is unlikely to have a significant effect. Good that you learned from the experience.

Wouldn’t it be great if parents, especially fathers could tell their children how Proud they are of them?? All kids need their parents to see them as they are, and show their appreciation of them. Having a physician, aka psychiatrist as a father can be tough for some kids… if the father starts to objectify their children as they might a patient. Sadly- their training emphasis is exactly on doing this- diagnosing a specific “ill from DSM criteria to then give a pill! Psych meds can be very dangerous. I’m sorry for your experience. Parents are supposed to protect and support. He was misguided, unfortunately.

Mental health experiences have numerous causes, so a one-size-fits-all approach is far too rigid. We need a much more holistic approach to mental health that looks at people's life histories, their current circumstances, environmental factors, relationships, exercise, diet, life events, stressors and even spiritual factors. Only a more holistic approach will identify the appropriate intervention, and sometimes a skilled listener and the passage of time is enough. Very often psychological, social, lifestyle or even nutritional interventions are more helpful. Or people's intense emotions are valid in their own cultural context. American culture has a tendency to medicalise ordinary emotions that make good sense and shouldn't be turned into a diagnosis. This interview was a story of a son's breaking free from the control of his father. as much as a valid critique of Big Pharma. A psychiatrist should not be treating their own children. A multidisciplinary approach where psychiatry is only one of a range of professions is better. Medication is grossly overprescribed but does sometimes help people with more severe mental health difficulties, and a good psychiatrist will explain potential side effects of any recommended drugs, obtain informed consent, monitor the impact and adjust the treatment in response to patient feedback.

You are so right. Women are always equal to or better than men; and we should not EVER be allowed to talk about them (unless worshipping them); and they like cars, computers, physics more than men, and they are stronger than men, and more emotionally stable than men; and even though they file for about 80% of divorces, it's always the man's fault!
