Hmm, modern classic. I can see why.
Thanks to Alpha Graphics for letting me take a spin on his GT300
Alpha Graphics is a print shop in Northern VA, give them a go for anything print. And they were crazy enough to let me take a spin on the GT300. Thanks!

I’ve been a motorcyclist for some years now, and was on my way to buy a W800 cafe racer, when i saw this, bright yellow Vespa in the showroom. I know😬… what was i thinking?? Anyway, i purchased the GTS 300 SUPER🤪 because I’m weird like that😝 Do i regret my decision? No… I don’t! This scooter brings a smile to my face whenever i see her; her name is lulu, and we’re now, inseparable🥰 It’s an entirely different experience riding a scooter, and the look on the faces of my friends and family, when i rolled up on her, I’ll never forget☺️ lulu does encourage one to, abide to the speed limits, and enjoy the experience of biking like never before; she’s no slouch either, she’ll move along quick enough, and will ride, two up from Wales to Scotland without issue. Ive not always made the best decisions in my time, but this, particular decision, was just perfect. No more, head down, arse up for me, I’m a true convert at 61😎

Absolutely loved your review. I've recently retired and bought a vespa primavera, bright blue. I've named her 'bliss'. She makes me smile and I get such a kick out of scooting around my town and countryside. She's the only vespa in town. Early days yet but I plan to do alot of touring after winter.

I’m on my 2nd GTS 300. Did a 600 mile ride a couple years ago. I’ve ridden every type of 2 wheeled vehicle and LOVE my Vespas. I’ve owned a dozen of various vintages from a 1962 to my 2021 GTS 300 HPE. They are a showcase of clean Italian engineering.

I won't buy an HPE. Vespa DOUBLED the maintenance requirements on it from the previous GTS300, which to me means they have reliability concerns with it. I also don't have any desire to practically rebuild the engine every 6,000 miles.

I have 2 vespas. 250 ie and a 300 250 is an 09 model and the 300 is 06. Never had a problem with either one. Love vespa. They are reliable and fun to ride. My buddies all ride big bikes, but I get around much faster and I can maneuver much better than them in parking lots. Big bikes are a sunday ride and vespas are every day practical bikes. I just love them.

I have a GTS 300. A top box and a windshield make it a perfect riding scoot. Shopping, no problem. 62 mile freeway commute at 65MPH, no problem. I've had it up to 75+ MPH and it still was pulling but my courage ran out. More comfortable than my motorcycle. Zero mechanical problems. Vespa Servicing is expensive, however. Everybody loves a Vespa.

The Vespa GTS isn't perfect, no machine is but it's close. I'm on my second one and ride after ride it puts a smile on my face. Ah, yes…"you get what you pay for." I've had my GTS300 Super (2015, a bit newer than the one you're on, and with a few interesting changes as a result) for over five years, and in spite of a few issues, I love it as mush now as the day I rode it off the proverbial showroom floor. I *know* no other scooter would've done it for me the same way. The bigger deal is that it's my principal mode of motorized transport, as I don't own a car, and I frequently travel from central New Jersey to my former home of NYC, which involves a lot of highway miles, which the GTS handles rather well: I won't outrun someone who insists on doing 90 where the posted limit is 65 (good luck with that here), but the bike will cruise at 65-70+mph all day long. And yes, the stock suspension is generally very good compared to other scoots, but I decided to upgrade to Malossi shocks at the near-20k mile mark, and the ride is even better as a result. The upshot here is that *any* GTS in decent shape is a seriously-good scoot.

Vespa IS a Motorcycle. A scooter aka step through is a frame style, so it motor cross, cruiser, street, full dress touring…. It’s all different designs of frame and looks. I will say those little Italian wasps can be addictive, I own 4 now snd don’t consider the cost to be so expensive, they are quality made with quality materials and construction

I also have 2 Vespas. A 1979 P200E 2 stroke manual shift kick start scooter that is an absolute blast to ride. It requires a LOT of rider interaction with the scooter, which is what makes it so much fun. You don't just sit there, you have to be operating the controls all the time. I also have a 2006 GT200, which is pretty much like that one, but it is a light metallic green. The frame/body is the same size as that one, but it has a carbureted 200cc engine, and a CVT. I ride it when I just want to kick back and ride long distances. The carbureted 200cc engine will top out at 74-75 mph, which is just a couple mph slower than the EFI GTS250 and 300. Vespa didn't make the engine bigger for more power. They had to make it Euro compliant (which I think is a big bunch of BS) and doing so robbed a lot of power from the engine, so they increased the displacement to compensate for it. I definitely prefer carbureted engines over computerized EFI engines. They are so much simpler, with so much less to go wrong. Unfortunately it does have that computerized immobilizer, and I have yet to figure out how to disable it. If I ever lose the chip key, or something goes wrong with it, the whole computer has to be replaced.

To anyone thinking about buying a Vespa: here in italy there are of course plenty of them and many of them are VERY old. It's not uncommon to see vespas that are between 15 to 20 years old and they still work perfectly and you will always find spare parts no matter how old your vespa is. The true upside of Vespa quality is also that you really need to buy it once. And if you think those old vespas are well kept or something, that isnt the case: people use them regularly to go to work and they withstand heath and cold every year.

You say that this Vespa is very easy to service. I have an earlier Vespa 300 GTS, and soon after I bought it from the previous owner I replaced the spark plug. It was not an easy job. Once you have the spark plug socket on the plug you need a ratchet type tool in the end of the socket. The problem is that inside the engine cover the space is very restricted, so it is difficult to move the ratchet tool either way to unscrew the plug. It can be done if you have the correct tools.

i like vespa but drive a yamaha zuma 125 for 1/2 the price. not the top end speed of a 300 cc vespa but zuma fits rear racks, bags, driver foot foot pegs and factory windscreen. 60 mph or below zuma will hang big time if not for the win. if you want the sophia loren style in rome look then vespa i guess.. plus i just bought the honda navi and it's great scoot $2700.00 out the door. not sure OTD on 300 vespa but probably well under that for my 2 scoots.

The vespa style is pretty timeless. THe modern vespas look very similar, id have to study up to figure out what the difference is.

I was just thinking, it's been awhile since vehicle hunter posted a video. Good timing. Also I've been looking for an older kawasaki ninja 250 after seeing your video about them. There are none available in sw Fl. But i look everyday, one will pop up.

@@stevemiller7433 Yeh, I've seen them on the web site. Just too big size wise as well as price and to me too ugly. They lack the lines and style of the Vespa line up. Now if Vespa could manage to put the 3 wheel tech into a scooter like the Elettrica...I'd buy one. I live in California and I understand any 3 wheel under a certain horsepower a regular class C drivers license is all you need to operate it on the road.
