OMG, I posted my comment first and then watched the video and realized, what a gem of a video I stumbled upon. Tutorials like this are so hard to find. So much information, and every step thoroughly explained. It's better than anyone would ask for. And all this for free. Thank you for what you do.

Vehicle Maintenance and Repairs .com Just completed the service, your tutorial made it a breeze. Thank you again. However, I notice that I have some black debris in the coolant reservoir, I would love to see a video tutorial on how to empty, flush and replace the coolant. Cheers again.

Thank you for the video. What is the recommended type of oil do you use? I have a 2011 Hyundai i20 1.4 petrol.
@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai37905 ай бұрын
5w30 (full synthetic) or 15w40, the capacity is 3.6L including the filter, I leave the oil grade choice up to the client as there is a significant difference in cost. How often should I change gearbox fluids (manual). And if mileage is too low, how long can I keep them before changing them?
@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai37906 ай бұрын
Gearbox oil rarely gets replaced in a manual gearbox as the lubrication of the gears is splash feed, there is little friction in the box, therefore, the heat is not excessive in deteriorating the oil viscosity and grade, In cases where the gear oil is replaced is when the gearbox is repaired and needs to be refilled., auto boxes on the other hand have to be replaced periodically as there are pumps, valves, belts and other components that is affected by oil quality and viscosity.

Hi Gary, I wanted to ask about changing the fuel filter for the i20. I have heard you mention on a previous video (Honda Ballade service) that as the fuel filter is in the fuel tank one can leave it and only replace it when replacing the fuel pump. Will the same apply for the i20 as the fuel filter is also in the fuel tank? Thank you for the guidance.
@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai37903 жыл бұрын
Yes Reno there is no petrol filter replacement necessary for the i20 at servicing

Before drain the oil, should I wait for the engine to cool down or can I go on and drain the oil immediately after the the timer goes off
@dawidptak64334 жыл бұрын
I believe the oil is to thick when cold. That is why he kept the engine on for 15 minutes to make sure the oils is not cold. I would just go for a shooping . Few miles to the shop and back should get the temperature to around 90 degrees of Celsius. It will take some time to cool down again so should be plenty time to empty the car from shooping before oil change.
@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai37902 жыл бұрын
Best to drain while hot, Tseke it helps to get the gunk out before it settles to the bottom again, just be careful not to burn while draining the oil.

Hi Rajarshee, not to worry it is a little oil that leaked into that plug tube, it is time to tighten or replace your tappet cover gaskets.

Hi Shalu, thanks for supporting my channel, very sad to hear, these cars are very economical, there are so my factors affecting bad fuel consumption, such as under-inflated tyres, weight, spark plugs, fuel leaks, dirty injectors, poor quality fuel etc. the list goes on. best to have a mechanic check it for you. Good luck. Gary
