Speedo cluster I could live with the original one perfectly fine (personal prefference), but Head unit replacement is mandatory for CCC and CIC systems because the original ones lack so many features.

It's because you are looking at the screen via video. In person the blacks are much darker. Not OLED dark but definitely more than you can see on video.

The ///M Analog Cluster looks great and perfectly blends with the car. The Digital one just cheapens the look IMO. As for the CCC and CIC ya they are trash and the upgrade is welcomed.

Those id4motion gauges fit much better with the e60 M5 rather than on the e46 M3. I personally think that gauge cluster would fit best on an e9X M3. Overall love this build dude!

Should know id4motion clusters don’t keep up with idrive time settings loosing 4 minutes a day on the clock = annoying 🙄 ANDDDDD THE CURRENT UPDATE THEY HAVE removed the M// logo option because of legal issues I have went through many updates Originally This cluster wasn’t going to sleep properly draining brand new battery giving me high battery discharge warning until few updates later but clock still doesn’t keep up otherwise it’s cool to have

Just found you and this video, got an 08 535i I hate to love since it gave me a transmission problem earlier this year and I had to replace it. I've always found it annoying that it had built in bluetooth call but no media sharing and a fairly dated display. After watching this and your older video on the 335i, I feel decently confident to replace the head unit once I can save up the cash for one. Overall good videos and I'm glad you actually walk through plugging things in even though it seems like such a simple thing to do. Shade tree mechanics like me who are used to working on older things like a 1994 ford ranger, get a little nervous with newer cars and all their sensors and electrical bits. I know just enough to get myself into trouble, and not enough to get back out of it most times with that.

The aux cable is another ground/completes the circuit, for the audio system. Similar to if the antenna cable isn't connected the audio won't even turn on.

A manual swap would be the best way to make this car feel newer. All that blacked out stuff wheels and so on don't look really modern... Also all that digital stuff will become aged very fast and actually the analog stuff will feel newer.

I'd say go for it. I always wanted a nice E39, but I waited too long and the good ones suddenly completely dried up around 6 years ago, or became unreasonable in price, now I'll never have one. Right now, the 335ix's from 2011/2012 should have hit the bottom of their depreciation curves, and at the same time you'll have one of the best examples of that generation possible (excluding the M3 of course).

My E60 has the M-ask system, which is not the CIC or CCC system. it's much more bare bones. From what I've found, aftermarket things like this tend not to work, or at least they don't transmit audio. Do you know if there's a workaround for this? I haven't found one. I'd love to be able to use android auto and Bluetooth without having to go through a radio frequency adapter.

It's great a company still offers a tremendous upgrade for a older model vehicle. Just swap out that factory steering wheel for a carbonfiber/leather after market upgrade & you'll be complete.

The digital cluster looks too narrow / Chinese imo. The stock one is just fine, also, for the head unit, I would've just went for an F series one with all the bells and whistles, the one where you can zoom out and see the earth. But I guess this route is cheaper and more customizable

Hello every one; I purchased the ID4 Motion screen. Works great but one things to point out is that in the maintenance side COUNTER for service It only displays in KM and you will loose the ability to track your spark plugs maint. Interval and other 2 more…. Keep that in mind. Unless they come up with a revised firmware I’m not going to install mines….

Upgrade the steering as well please. For the digital information cluster, the Chinese ones look a lot better, they have more advanced skins and the quality seems even better. Lastly, if you can upgrade your trim to piano black and install RGB lights, everything will look fantastic.

@@thekidmanny377i probably will at some point, dont get me wrong i looove my e39 but things wont sttand the test of time... partts will add up and it will be more and more diffecult to aquire... just look at bmw 2992's from 68-74 (i have 2 that im rebuilding) 20 years ago people were scrapping them bc they were *just old junk* now they go for insane prices and parts are impossible to find... so as long as i can *upgrade* (as if you could ever upgrade from an e39 m5) i will always try to get newer cars that need less maintenance like a 2019 m2 comp wich still is a fun car similar to an e39 m5 (even if it doesnt bear the cool factor the NA v8 m5 does) :)

No issues. The AC issue was mainly for the E46 chassis and has been fixed via an update. And yes the newest update removes the m symbol
