@@marcd7332 Yeah true. Same thing with the E65 and to a lesser extent the E46 too. I've never really liked the designs of the early/mid 00's BMWs, especially considering how nice the E38 and E39 from the gen before and the F10 and F30 from the generation after were.

Speedo cluster I could live with the original one perfectly fine (personal prefference), but Head unit replacement is mandatory for CCC and CIC systems because the original ones lack so many features.

Its a lcd panel, if they used led or oled panes it would be double the price probbably

​@@darioograjsek9336Oled screens would have burn in issues but most decent lcds have good contrast ratio's, the digital cluster is probably using a cheap lcd panel.

It's because you are looking at the screen via video. In person the blacks are much darker. Not OLED dark but definitely more than you can see on video.

The ///M Analog Cluster looks great and perfectly blends with the car. The Digital one just cheapens the look IMO. As for the CCC and CIC ya they are trash and the upgrade is welcomed.

Just found you and this video, got an 08 535i I hate to love since it gave me a transmission problem earlier this year and I had to replace it. I've always found it annoying that it had built in bluetooth call but no media sharing and a fairly dated display. After watching this and your older video on the 335i, I feel decently confident to replace the head unit once I can save up the cash for one. Overall good videos and I'm glad you actually walk through plugging things in even though it seems like such a simple thing to do. Shade tree mechanics like me who are used to working on older things like a 1994 ford ranger, get a little nervous with newer cars and all their sensors and electrical bits. I know just enough to get myself into trouble, and not enough to get back out of it most times with that.

Should know id4motion clusters don’t keep up with idrive time settings loosing 4 minutes a day on the clock = annoying 🙄 ANDDDDD THE CURRENT UPDATE THEY HAVE removed the M// logo option because of legal issues I have went through many updates Originally This cluster wasn’t going to sleep properly draining brand new battery giving me high battery discharge warning until few updates later but clock still doesn’t keep up otherwise it’s cool to have

I have a new-ish car now, but back when I was driving older cars, there wasn't anything like this out there, best thing you could get was a slow iPad gen 1 clone. This looks sick! Really makes something like a low mileage W221 or W211 or E39 or LS430 (if you can find any of these) viable again.

The aux cable is another ground/completes the circuit, for the audio system. Similar to if the antenna cable isn't connected the audio won't even turn on.

The digital cluster looks too narrow / Chinese imo. The stock one is just fine, also, for the head unit, I would've just went for an F series one with all the bells and whistles, the one where you can zoom out and see the earth. But I guess this route is cheaper and more customizable

They make it look like a 2013 - 22 screen upgrade. I personally think these mods where worth it. The digital cluster I would only have 3 displays and it would still contain the original one with a the same color to match my car but the head unit is worth it 18:06

It's great a company still offers a tremendous upgrade for a older model vehicle. Just swap out that factory steering wheel for a carbonfiber/leather after market upgrade & you'll be complete.

Hello every one; I purchased the ID4 Motion screen. Works great but one things to point out is that in the maintenance side COUNTER for service It only displays in KM and you will loose the ability to track your spark plugs maint. Interval and other 2 more…. Keep that in mind. Unless they come up with a revised firmware I’m not going to install mines….

Upgrade the steering as well please. For the digital information cluster, the Chinese ones look a lot better, they have more advanced skins and the quality seems even better. Lastly, if you can upgrade your trim to piano black and install RGB lights, everything will look fantastic.

You should’ve kept the OG gauge cluster and upgraded the CCC Unit to the CIC unit to still have at least Bluetooth playback and keep it original.

OMG!! Lucky they don't install these screens as a business?! Maybe try a plastic pry tool to remove the trim and move along in small sections in lieu of just try brute force with your hands?! That's what I did to the same trim and had no issues.

Definitely not the first e series trim I've removed. This was literally baked on there. I tried with a plastic pry tool first and it wasn't strong enough, so I pulled out the metal one.
