Velma review of episode 2, where we find a few journalists desperate to try and prove that 6% review score is simply a small group of loud people. And Velma tries to prove the innocence of the same person she accused of guilt in the last episode. Of course Velma hasn't changed in one episode, or likely the rest of the series. And so she's still as insufferable as she was before. Which is apparently a bonus! But what did you think about it from what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

Fred has money, so we're told - something not all white people have...in addition the first episode indicates he's brutally abused by his father, who puts cigars/cigarettes out on him, amongst other easily assumed traumas, including emotional abuse and abandonment. He also has a physical condition he can't control, and is brutally made fun of for it. Something I find to be utterly disgusting, considering the current era of PC speech in which I can't even use the word "crazy" or "field" without someone feeling insulted, much less making fun of someone for a physical condition they were born with. Truly disgusting. I'm white, and I always had food on the table, something I don't take for granted. But my house was rampantly abusive, more so than I care to share online. But because my family was stable enough, my trauma counts for nothing, and I'm only to be understood through my skin color, not my actual experience. Just as all people of color are assumed to have racial trauma, despite many examples of people indicating they've gone their whole lives not having an issue with people, or having objectively racist experiences. That's just to say that current Far/Woke/sheep Left likes to paint a broad brush, much like the Right, but pretends it's not doing to that, just like the Right. I see people as individual human beings, not as an arbiter of other people who happen to look like them. And I find all the time I have more in common with people of disparate backgrounds, because we're similar as PEOPLE, how we think about the world, and interact with others. Shows like this, which attempt to be progressive, demonstrate with every breath the same hatred that some white people have shown towards people of color. They think they can't be racist, because people who look like them have been persecuted - but demonstrate they're cut from the same cloth as white racists. Closed minded, identity-obsessed, self-orientated bigots. And Mindy Kaling seems to be one of those people. Stuck in a victim's mentality, despite being at the forefront of TV writing in Hollywood for the better part of a decade. Someone who admitted on Conan O'brien's show that she kissed a man on the set of one of HER shows without consent, and joked about firing her staff if they said anything - something that would have instantly ended the career of any male confessor of such a heinous act. If you're going to have standards, at least hold yourself to the same standards you set for others. Otherwise, I think there's a term for that. Double....double...hmm, I just can't recall...

She grew up rich and privileged, and as a woman of color in Hollywood in 2023 she can’t just settle with that, wants to abuse power to the infinity realm and just bask in the shield of “if you dont like my show you’re racist”. Imagine if she was born white and male…
@TheAngryXenite
@TheAngryXenite Жыл бұрын
And don't forget, Kaling ironically experienced greater privilege than the majority of people, white or otherwise, in this country. She grew up the child of two parents with good paying jobs in a very affluent neighborhood, went to an Ivy League school on their dime, and immediately went into a career writing for Hollywood, I believe. SHE is the trust fund baby, while Fred (who in most portrayals is middle class at best: ironically I believe Shaggy is actually the one coming from money) just gets sacked with it because... I seriously could have written your life experience, that's one hell of an echo to mine. My opinion though is that there's one key component you are overlooking: the pseudo left and pseudo right you're talking about are, basically, professional victims that look as hard as they can for offense, giving those who follow them an example of the "other" to fear and hate. Prime example. I've yet to meet a Latino who doesn't loathe "Latinx" as is sh1ts on their language. I dunno. They've trashed the term left, progressive...these should be positive terms for people trying to make the world better. But, at the end of the day, it is easier to tear something down than to build something up.

@@TheAngryXenite It's kind of funny, actually. Asians, and specifically Indians, tend to score higher on standardized tests and make more money than European Whites. I never had any issues with South Asians not being represented in it because I never saw race or color in that show. It was a goofy entertaining cartoon and I loved every bit of it. Even the later cartoons and films were pretty awesome as well. You ask any South Asian who enjoyed the OG Scooby Doo they'll tell you the same. They probably did that to make up for the fact that they wanted to keep Daphne's iconic red hair. They had to sacrifice a ginger to make it right. In old English, "man" meant what we now call human and has still been used in that way since. "Were" and "Wif" meant man and woman, respectively, regarding gender. Those are, of course, recognizable as evolving into the 'were' in werewolf and the word "wife". Etymology is kinda interesting.

@@BigJay039 it wasn’t revoked, he just never renewed it once his show took off. He had a doctorate so he could call himself doctor Phil and had practiced psychiatry for a while so he had the background to advise people which is how he managed to continue his show without a license. That’s how he got by, he was *never giving* a thorough examination and diagnosis so nothing could happen to him. It’s not right but it’s legal which means the only way for him to lose his position is to lose public support.

13:21 Here's why the father is not believable as a lawyer: If I need to disgrace the other side, fine, I can invite a totally insane person to the witness stand. Because she will discredit herself easily. But if I need a character witness to actually help me, I look for someone who I can "guide" and consult on how to act in front of the judge and jury. And here's the banger: Velma absolutely fails this test and can not be trusted to stick to any plan.

Basic rule for solving a crime; means, motive and opportunity. Every character in this show goes “ oh he/she has a motive, it must be them”. Then immediately proceeds to the next step of the legal system. I understand this is supposed to be a comedy but if they want to mix with the mystery genre then they can at least put some effort into making a mystery and providing evidence, rather than jumping back and forth between guilty and not guilty.
