Your channel is called “Average Guy HiFi” it is easier for us average Joe’s to relate to you and your honest review when it is not over edited or over polished like these pro reviewers. Stay unique and keep it humble which is why we keep coming back. Keep up the great work!!

Thanks for the kind words! I’m just a normal dude so I’m trying to keep my videos easier to understand, for us average folks out there. I would like to improve thinks as I go and figure out better editing skills but the equipment will always come first. Thank you again for the kind words, my friend!

Velodyne used to be king. Then they disappeared and now? Are they really back? Love those small subs. Thinking of getting a couple of the Emotiva 8" subs to run with some Elac B6s in a second home/apartment (future retirement abode). Just got the original Elacs, much wider sound stage than what followed, a bit less refined, but very dynamic and more bass-sure it's a little loose compared to the B6.2. But you really have to CRANK the B6.2 to hear any low bass. The B6 does it effortlessly at most volumes. It's just a more FUN speaker. Audiophile or FUN? I have both speakers. So, B6.2 in the office and the B6 with the subs to the new home in the TV room on an older 120 watt x 7 Denon AVR (a BB open box years ago. $450 for an $1150 receiver-made in Japan). Can't wait to set that up! May add centers and rears later, or not.

Totally agree that sub plate amps are the weakest link and most likely of anything to fail. Mine started to pop every 2 min or so and it took me forever to figure out it was the sub.

That's what I did a year ago. Said screw it and just started making videos of all the audio crap I do. Its a fun hobby and figured I'd contribute to it with a KZbin channel. Great channel here for an average guy ; )

Love your channel too! Keep up your style and try not to compare to what everyone else does :) btw one segment to consider is to do a Value Village, Goodwill or Garage Sale finds and rate them..... Average Guy Hi-fi The Value Hunter lol Then you can apply your awesome tips and tricks to help us find good stuff there. Also it's a lot cheaper on your wallet and can be more rewarding. I think you'll find a lot of people interested in that type of content!

Most of the Velodyne subs are great and hit low. It is a big risk when buying used, I have burned many times but it is part of the hobby, I know that uneasy feeling when you get home and the item is not working! Keep up the great work Dustin!

My Microvee died recently when I powered it up. Not pleased because it wasn't used heavily. That's the issue with subs in general, they are built well but the amps are the weak point. Could be something as simple as a fuse or could be something on the circuit board. Either way, I might have to pay out to have this diagnosed.

I don't know if you've heard the JBL Studio 500 series speakers but some of them are on sale on JBL's website. Studio 580's are 350 a piece, studio 590's are 550 each, and Studio 530's are 300 for a pair and the studio 520 is 150. Unfortunately the 570's aren't on sale. I think in the past they have went on sale for 200.00 each

I saw that sale but thanks for thinking of me! I’d really love to compare those bookshelf speakers against my Klipsch and Polk bookshelf’s. I might just order them but I have quite a bit of equipment here, just waiting for the time for me to review. Again, thanks for thinking of me, my man!

@krupkake13 жыл бұрын
Hi. So how much money did you get when you sold some of these units back to the used market? I’d love to see a follow up video that talks about each speaker’s actual sell performance.
@blazermdx3 жыл бұрын
I’ve been selling everything for exactly what I paid for it, to give back to the local audio community. If I travel a long distance to buy something, I might tack some on to cover the gas but that’s about it. I was thinking about buying some speakers to flip, to show that side of the hobby. I’ve also considered buying some speakers to try and trade up, to see how far I can take it. Might be fun videos. Thanks for asking, I truly appreciate the support!

Hi average guy, any chance you could review the Polk Audio HTS 10 subwoofer and see how it compares to the PSW 10s? I am on the fence and your expert opinion would be of much help. Thank you for the great content!!
@blazermdx3 жыл бұрын
I’m definitely keeping my eyes peeled for the HTS-10 and 12. Going off the specs alone, the HTS-10 has a significant output advantage and goes deeper. Again, I’m really trying to get my hands on these subs as the overall impressions seem quite positive. Thank you very much for the comment! Only a matter of time before I have the HTS 10 & 12 here. I will then be able to provide you with my personal experience with them.
@Bobpopsiculs3 жыл бұрын
@@blazermdx Thanks for the reply - yes the specs seem to suggest a significant upgrade on the PSW although I've learnt specs don't paint the full picture. They're also just very aesthetically pleasing (especially the walnut finished model) if that sort of thing matters to the buyer. Wirecutter writing for the New York Times had their reviewers do a blindfold test on high performance subwoofers and the HTS 10s despite being the cheapest tested ranked 2nd competing with the likes of the Hsu Research VTF-2 MK5 and SVS SB-1000 - a very interesting read for your morning coffee. www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-subwoofer-for-home/ Anyhow, I hope you manage to get your hands on these soon - I look forward to your expert opinion! Thanks again for the amazing work that you do!
@blazermdx3 жыл бұрын
@@Bobpopsiculs 100%! Specs definitely don’t tell the entire story. That’s exactly why I’m so obsessive compulsive when it comes to me listening to as much as possible. Thank you for that article! I haven’t read that one yet but blind comparisons are my absolute favorite! Thanks again!

Asking out of curiosity what will be the best price for a used psw-10 Polk Audio If use trying to buy off the used market and getting the best Bang for your buck I want to get a second one but I don't want to pay full price for a new 1 again.

Keep in mind I am only asking so I could have a rough estimate of how much I should save up for
@blazermdx3 жыл бұрын
All used home audio markets are a little different but with the PSW10 usually on sale around $129 with a warranty, I think $60 - $75 sounds fair. I probably wouldn’t pay more than that, since there won’t be a warranty. I grabbed one here locally, for $75 which was a decent deal.

@@blazermdx $129 is pretty common and full price. Black Friday and they are less esp an open box with a full warranty. I'd say 40-50 bucks used. BTW, I didn't like it but up to you.

Sound wise, i'll bet this thing compares with my little subs like the Klipsch Promedia, Logitech Z623 and M-Audio AV32.1 which are all rated down to ~35hz but this thing would crush any of my subs in terms of power. A kilowatt RMS? Seriously? That's crazy!
