It’s funny how you did a sub video and I just bought one of the coolest, the smallest and most powerful sup I’ve heard. I got a Definitive Technology Supercube 2000 for 250. I got it with two extra amps for the sub just incase haha one of the best deals I’ve got for my home theater! AWESOME CONTENT MAN! Keep it coming!!
@blazermdx

I’ve owned about 10 SuperCube subwoofers, including the 2000 and even the Reference. I just love the compact size and the awesome, punchy bass. That’s a great deal for that sub, especially since it came with the extras. The amps are getting a tad old and seem a little prone to failure but since you got the extra amps. Congratulations!

@@blazermdx yeah the guy was pretty cool! Told me the same thing about the amps. But it’s been good. I’m at about 30 to 40% if it’s power and it’s really hitting hard

I just figured this was a good opportunity for people to see how different a subwoofer’s can be. And as you know, even the biggest sub in this video, is considered a small sub. Everyone has different needs, budgets and expectations:)

You have/had 9 subs too?!?! We're insane! What I didn't tell you about my subs are, they are almost all 2.1 computer speaker subs which sounds lame except I have many of the best around from companies like M-Audio, Klipsch, Logitech, Edifier and Corsair. Three of them are THX-certified and most of them extend down ~35hz even though most of them are the same size as your velodyne
@blazermdx
@blazermdx 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we definitely have problems. Haha That little Velodyne is pretty cool, 1,000 Watts RMS, 6.5” woofer, two aluminum passive radiators. Velodyne says it gets down to 38 hz, which is pretty crazy. I might put this little sub in my office, to go with my LSiM 703’s but I haven’t quite decided yet. Thanks again for stopping by, my man!

Dustin thank you for starting this channel. Been watching for a while. I’m looking to buy a 10” sub. With your collection here, what are the pros and cons of downfiring subs vs front firing. Thanks!
@blazermdx
@blazermdx 4 жыл бұрын
There is an active debate about Front firing vs. down firing subwoofers but I’m on the side that doesn’t believe that there’s any performance differences. Bass is Omni-directional so the orientation of the driver, in relation to the cabinet shouldn’t make any difference. I would just choose the sub that has the best specs and that fits in your budget, whether that be front firing or down firing. Thanks for the kind words and for helping support the channel!

That's a lot of sub! Look forward to your review on the ULS15 compared to the Rythmiks and SB16 you just had.
@blazermdx
@blazermdx 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, should be interesting! In all honesty, I think the SB16 Ultra is my overall favorite, out of the 3 but at $2K, it’s also the most expensive. The Rythmik might be my choice of music was my top way of using it, due to the Servo control. With all that said, I’d probably buy the HSU ULS15, if I were buying for a dedicated room, that I don’t have. It is just too hard to pass on this sub, for $749! You could almost have 3 of them for the price of the SB16 Ultra! I need a ton more seat time with the ULS but those are my thoughts, after handling all 3. All 3 are amazing though!
@TylerStout
@TylerStout 4 жыл бұрын
@@blazermdx Sounds about right, technically in terms of cost a more fair comparison would be the SB3000 at $999 since in order to get similar features you would need a miniDSP with the HSU which would put prices pretty close but I'd wager the HSU would come out on top mostly due to larger driver and better cea2010 numbers but hard to say without hearing both. But if you were comparing 2 uls15mk2 vs 1 sb16ultra having the second sub would 90% of the time be better.
@blazermdx

@@TylerStout I missed out on a pair of SB3000 for $1,500 not too long ago. Still kicking myself. I’ve wanted to try that sub for a while, the reviews are stellar. One day, my fried, one day..

@blazermdx
@blazermdx 4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, for the reviews, I’m needing to get them properly dialed in, to give them a fair shake. The one big problem with having so much gear in and out, is that I’m now spending nearly as much time tweaking the speakers/subwoofers, as I’m getting the opportunity to listen to them. Haha Thanks for stopping by!

Which Martin Logan Dynamo models do you have? I see several in the used market 300, 400, 500, 700. Also seeing one locally available Dynamo 700 for $150. Do you think that is a good price for it?
@blazermdx
@blazermdx 4 жыл бұрын
I have actually owned all of those minus the 100 & 400 but I’ve also owned the 1000. The versions in this video are the original Dynamo so there’s no other naming convention. That is a smoking deal on a 700, especially if it comes with the wireless transmitter! The 700 is the most similar to my Dynamo. Good clean and deep bass, in a compact package. Go grab it, before someone else does:)

Is a Passive Sub a real sub?? To me a sub should be powered!
@blazermdx
@blazermdx 4 жыл бұрын
Passive subs don’t have amplifiers and require an external amplifier. Passive radiator subwoofers have one powered sub and another woofer that isn’t powered. It moves, using the movement of the active sub. It allows smaller subs to perform closer to their larger, ported counterparts. Confusing, I know. Which is why I thought I’d shoot this video real quick:)
@lesmatthews459
@lesmatthews459 4 жыл бұрын
@@blazermdx I understand passive radiators - but it's still a powered sub. Just one radiator is passive - not the whole sub.
