@@JJ-lj7lr Yes, I count myself as very lucky. Wasn't even in the market for one but obviously that is a purchase no one should pass up. I could even turn around and sell it for a huge profit, though I'm quite fond of it as the velodyne's performance is outstanding. I go thrifting for most of my audio gear and was also able to pick up and Onkyo TX-SR604 for $27 which has been working nicely to drive my system.

I'd love to find one of these for my desktop! I picked up two MiniVee 10s for $600 six years ago and absolutely love them. I think I'll only replace them when they die. I see zero reason to upgrade them for my home theater. I'm impressed with your audio recording. Most people trying to film subwoofers it sounds like crap as the their mics just clip trying to pick up the bass. Good job!

Thanks! Yeah, some of the Velodyne subs, like the MiniVees, had killer performance. Especially considering their tiny footprints. I’m thinking about adding my MicroVee to my little office Emotiva/Polk setup. It easily fits under my desk. Thanks for stopping by, my friend!

Portable sealed subs like these are great options for near field or desktop rigs used mainly for music listening. I own a Velodyne Microvee 6.5" that has 1000W RMS power with two side firing passive radiators. Just amazing for my desktop setup where I can feel the thump on my chest as opposed to the bass lumpiness of ported subs while others in the next room wont even notice much going on!
@blazermdx4 жыл бұрын
I’m actually sitting next to Velodyne MicroVee subwoofer that I just snagged. I just hooked and made sure it’s functional, are you sure those are passive radiators? I played some bass tracks and I got zero vibrations on those side holes/grills. Haven’t researched it yet. With that said, it sounds awesome and will now likely become my office subwoofer to go with my MA speakers. Thanks for stopping by, my friend!

I have 2 of the SPL 800 (aka Minivee 8), 1 Velodyne SC-8 and 1 Velodyne SC-15. One of the SPL 800's amplifiers stopped working so I ripped out the guts, covered the holes on the amplifier plates and added binding posts. I'm now running it passive powered by a crown XLS1500 bridged. Velodyne SPL/MiniVee subs and above kicks butt.

I knew there was some Velodyne subwoofer fans out there! I feel Velodyne started getting overlooked by many, when the Factory Direct brands started to hit the market. Velodyne is great Subwoofer manufacture and can be had for great deals on the 2nd hand market. Nice subwoofer collection you have there, my friend!

Average Guy Hi-Fi I had dual Polk DSW MicroPro 1000 subs before I got my first VELO SPL800. @ 1200 watts x 2 for the Polk, the Polks got destroyed by just 1 Spl800. Velodyne knows how to make subs. Hopefully with new management and the new line of subs they have planed, they can return to relevance. They need to be careful with their pricing. There are way to many options out there that offer incredible bang for your buck - MONOPRICE, PSA, HSU, PARTS EXPRESS, Diy kits.

You know what you are talking about, it’s easy to tell! Velodyne has been developing some of the best performing subwoofers on the Planet, well before all these amazing Factory Direct Subwoofer brands even got started. They know how to do it, they just got a little too comfortable being on top, I suppose. They were forced to sharpen their pencils. Velodyne is prime for a resurgence. Not that they ever left, there’s just meat on that bone with the right restructuring. If anyone out there, who works at Velodyne, and you are in need of a sales guy, hit me up:)

I’m happy you felt the video was somewhat useful! Velodyne has made quite a few high quality subs, that tend to go under people’s radars. Just make sure you fully test older subs. Great review. I ordered the sb1000 and would be looking to pair it with these (which I already own) as a second sub. If you were to compare the 2 (mainly for music purposes) which would you prefer and why? Also do you recommend I use both subs together since these are 8" compared to the sb-1000 being a 12inch. Thanks.
@blazermdx4 жыл бұрын
Since they are both sealed, you should be able to get them dialed in nicely. The SB-1000 should have a little more output and dig a little deeper than the little MiniVee but it’s going to be closer than most folks that don’t have any experience with these little subs, will tell you. Ideally, as money allows, you will sell off the MiniVee and replace it with another SB1000. I’m a big supporter of having matching subs so that’s probably the path I would take. Again, if you spend time getting them properly positioned and calibrated, you should be rewarded with even bass and more output. Congratulations on the new purchase!

I haven’t gotten my hands on the Micro 3000 yet but it will have more output and dig deeper than this great sub. For its time, this little Velodyne was excellent but these newer, compact subs are just better. The KEF KC62 is also another killer compact option.

Hey I’m looking at buying a used Velodyne SPL Series II. I haven’t found much information about it. Was wondering if you knew anything?
@blazermdx4 жыл бұрын
I’ve owned the 10” SPL II Velodyne. If you can’t tell from my videos, I’m a big Velodyne fan. My only concern is the age of SPL series subwoofers. They are getting a little “long in the tooth”, as they say. If you are buying it used, be sure to test it out first, to make sure the amp is fine. How much are you picking it up for? We love the details around these parts:)
@Spy19504 жыл бұрын
Average Guy Hi-Fi She said her mom bought it originally and they tag on the back says 2003...I didn’t ask if I can take it home and test it because she doesn’t have a amp. She’s selling it because she needs money. It does look I’m great condition and she’s selling it 400. For sure not willing to pay that

Just wondering why someone would put DVD racks full of DVDs on a wall thats covered by acoustic dampening material? I'm sure if given enough volume and the correct frequencies those DVDs shake like a diabetic having a glucose induced seizure. Anyways just wondering.

I’m only in 600 SF and I used to film in front of those acoustic panels but I ran out of room so I had to change the plans. I will be taking those panels down and putting a shelf there in the near future. You’re correct though, the way it’s all set up now, doesn’t make any sense at all. Haha
