Veloster Turbo Down Pipe Install

We finally got around to filming the much requested down pipe install. With perfect timing for its launch, in this video we are using the new Pierce Motorsports Down Pipe, and it is a beauty! Glad you like that O2 sensor socket. I designed that when working for Snap-on about 17 years ago. The one you used is not Snap-on brand but is a knock-off... but probably works just as well and for a fraction of the price! Cheers and thanks for the helpful video.

Thank you a TON for this video. I followed this video and then your Turbocharger install and was able to do it. Without this video I would never have the confidence to take off that third bolt closest to the engine on the DP flange. It took me a half hour and I kept saying "those guys did it so it must be able to be done" I think I would have given up if I didn't see you do it.

hmu & I'll walk you through how to make a vented oil cap. It' super easy: $20 @ Oreilly's for the cap, a big drill bit, &gorilla glue

Incognito yep they did! However I’ve done about 10 of these and I’d say only 2-3 were a complete nightmare. The others came off with no issues. Also on this car we are already using ARP ss studs as it’s our upgraded K03 and motor has maybe 4K miles on it sonits rather new

Great video, But how do you remove the bolts on the turbo to add the ARP studs? People have strongly suggested while you are in there with the DP to replace the bolts with the studs.

Brian Ciesil we put them in all our turbos as standard. This way if you buy a turbo from us you will never have a issue again. As for replacing them I tell people not to bother as trying to pull a stud will increase the risk of snapping one

Hey bro... love this channel, I learn a lot since I have a veloster turbo Rally edition. But quick question. All of the catless downpipe I try to purchase online says they're for veloster turbo and when I ask customer service they said they are not sure if it'll fit my 2016 VT Rally edition. Do you know if it does? And is the ISR test pipe a downpipe, if so will it fit my 2016 VT rally edition?

So I live in Arizona “no emissions” would it be better to just buy the pipe non catted? Also will the ark performance exhaust bolt right up to the downpipe? I’m wondering should I go catless down pipe with catback exhaust? Or catless down pipe with axle back. Only difference is the catback has a built in high flow muffler and the axle back eliminates the muffler totally.

Regardless of exhaust set up, you will see gains from a high flow or non-catted down pipe even with the stock exhaust, with an updated reflash. Of course, more gains will be had with a similar diameter (3") cat-back system paired with the 3" high flow down pipe.

Can you or should you use a thread locker on the nuts? Nothing crazy like Permatex Red but maybe medium blue? Idk if that stuff is good for high heat...but if it works peace of mind factor goes up a lot.

@KDMTUNERS -I have a 2013 Veloster Turbo and am curious if its necessary to add one of these?? I'm told my engine bottom end can only hold 240-250hp which is supposedly easily accomplished on a tune.. . your thoughts??

This is a long shot. But i went to install my 845 downpipe today. Turns out my bolts are WAY rusted and i am dont have time. So, i go to put the factory pipe back on and where the flange bolts to the elbow with the spring bolts, i cannot get it to sit flush, i could have sworn it was when i took it off. But i cannot get it to fall back into place. Any help would be dope. Thanks.

Quick question when installing the downpipe (catless) will it give me a check engine light and if so how would i remove it?

A catless downpipe will throw a rear 02 CEL, a spacer miiight work but usually you need to have the CEL light removed during tuning - If you need a reflash, feel free to reach out to us via email as we are offering remote tuning services!

Kind of a late response, but in case someone else is looking...I always just use a spark plug non-fouler. Drill out the end and it works perfectly. You can stack them if you need more gap.

So For The 2017+ Elantra Sports if you install the Catless Turbo Downpipe, will check engine light come on or give any issues?

It will at some point trigger a Check engine light. It wont be harmful to anything and just more of a pain in the but than anything. You can get foulers or mini cat extensions for the 02 that work somtimes. But i always tell people no matter what you do you will likely get a check engine on a catless DP. There are outliers but rare

Eric Borii catted DP are great and a lot less chance of getting a check engine light. Most will never get one.. power difference is not a whole lot less from the catless. On the race car I couldn’t feel a power loss from one to the other at all

I'm really confused, maybe I'm just stupid. but I've seen downpipes with and without the elbow. what's the difference? Do the straight ones not work with stock exhaust?

The non elbow were for the 2015 and older models which had a elbow and cat that was two pieces. The 2016 models the Cat and elbow were one piece. The new elbowed downpipes work with all models and do flow better. If you have a older model the non elbow versions work well and are very easy to install

Swift_Society rspec trans can run $500-1000 for the trans. Clutch kits range $550-1050 for upgraded kits. Install/labor will run about $700ish. Where are you located?
