Eh, it's not because they care about introverts but because it's more convenient and wastes less time for the consumer. Pre-ordering a ramen instead of going to the cashier saves much more time and requires less men for the restaurant. Vending machines are also common there because of the Work Culture of Japan, not because of introverts. It is much more convenient to buy everything you need in the street whenever you go to work instead of going to a store.

This is interesting to me in that most restaurants try to foster a social experience. The closest equivalent to the west to this seating setup I have seen is eating at a counter, and those are almost designed to encourage you to chat with the people next to you. Even the most 'intimate' experience, which is the word I think most western restaurants would use instead of private, are designed for at the very least, two people. This strikes me certainly as the sort of place for end of day comfort food eating
@namelessbard21244 жыл бұрын
The experience looks so peaceful and relaxin. I wish there were restaurants like that in my country. Here, waiters would come right up to you in the middle of eating and ask if you were enjoying your meal. It's sort of like a really hard maze for the droplets i guess. and always cover the nose, the little virus fuckers live up there, hence why they shove that long swab up ther, so always cover the nose.

Every time I see someone go to Ichiran, I get so jealous and hungry for Ramen...
@HenningGu2 жыл бұрын
When my mother and I visited Japan, visiting one Ichiran was like very high on my list. Unlike me, my mother can read traditional Chinese/Kanji so she was very confused as to why we were going there. As soon as we entered and she took a look at the vending machine and all these little cubicles, her eyes lightenend up. It was pretty good, there are certainly better Ramen spots in Tokyo or even around Shinjuku where we went, but the experience made it all worthwhile.

Ichiran offers a unique experience. Other ramen shops, not particularly catering to foreigners, are also very good too. Japanese people enjoy the differences. Because of the competition, most are good. It comes down to what kind of soup base you like. I personally don't prefer chicken base. When I am very tired after a long hike, I go for pork. On a regular day, I prefer fish (niboshi) base.
