In this episode of Couture Culture, we bring Venice's rich culture of its masquerade masks to you!
Venetian masks are a centuries-old tradition of Venice, Italy and are still worn every year at the Carnival of Venice. Join me as I learn about the different types of Venetian masks and its history and origins from Venetian-born Giorgio Galasso, and even get a chance to try my hand at painting a paper-mache Venetian mask using ancient techniques. My favourite part - sprinkling glitter! I got to bring home a piece of Venice with me - a beautiful black and gold mask which we designed during Giorgio's workshop.
If you are ever in Venice and are interested in learning more about masks and trying your hand at painting masks, this is a fun activity!
