Now, i got home slit the plastic wrap and put it on the turn table. And.... unfortunately i wasn't ready for Venom yet! lol However i was ready for the Black Metal album. I did the u-turn back to welcome to Hell and in stride from then on out

I saw this tour but not the first time Venom played in the US. I saw them in Staten Island in 1983 with Metallica opening. Kill Them All wasnt even released yet. My buddys and i hung on the street with Metallica and drank beers out of my cooler in the trunk of my boys car. I got a few stories about that night, Both historic tours.

Exodus are amazing, my favourite metal band, I love those guys! They have a pretty cool story behind how Exodus started... It's a pitty Baloff passed, he seemed like a genuine one of one, not many like him!! The vocalists that followed him held their own and brought their own brand of brutality to compliment the band... Guitarists were killer, Gary Holt' wow... I do wonder how they would have turned out if Kirk didn't join Metallica 🤔 Keep the stories rolling, very refreshing for a punk metal fan who was late to the scene 🤘👊

Venom was one of my favorite bands for the exact reason you stated about what metal does -- escapism. Your comparison to punk is right on man and ive never heard anyone articulate it that way. I was big on escapism and being taken to a fantasy world with music, which is probably why i was so into metal back in the day. Now i gotta listen to some Venom today at high volume!

By the train tracks. Not there anymore. I think there’s a Dick’s sporting goods store there now or somethin’. We were “smoking” listening to Black Metal on your boom box. I remember reading an article by Henry Rollins about his experience at a Venom gig in the 80s, he was ripping on them calling them hilarious ..I personally am a huge Venom fan but this one bit cracked me up. Apparently he heard Cronos shouting Blaaaack Funkyy metal ! , instead of black f'ing metal xD gold lmao. The Cronos Tom Araya story is funny as well....Venom are a great unique band, all the newer black metal bands can be as kvlt or edgy as they want but they remain kings of black metal, as well as thrash, speed, punk you name it lol they can do it all baby . I think I've heard people say they went prog on At War With SaTan, which was a totally badass record btw
