I really appreciate the fact that you differentiate between “I don’t personally like them, I never got into their music “ and some reasons why, and saying “I hate them they suck their music is terrible “ So many people on the internet don’t know the difference. There is so much music out there, music is so subjective and there’s something for everyone.

THIS! Agree 100%. Baloff was "bad" but it "worked" OK... but he was a disaster of a person with the drugs and all the related drama. Bonded By Blood is a classic right up there with Kill Em All... but yes the vocals are a weak point but they were passable. Zetro... well I think he was great on the Legacy demo (before they became Testament) but don't really like anything much after that. To be fair he has gotten better on some of the later albums like Tempo Of the Damned. Totally agree on the nasal sound and I don't like the politics of the lyrics. I saw him several years ago do some AC/DC covers at a benefit show for the former bassist of Y&T and finally realized after all these years he is basically trying to do Bon Scott... love Bon... doesn't do it for me with Exodus. I do like the KZbin interview show Zetro has been doing. Rob Dukes FINALLY was the vocalist Exodus always needed. The kind of aggressiveness that perfectly matched the riffs. Every album with Dukes is awesome! That being said I did see a show with Dukes where he was non stop spitting on the stage and it was absolutely disgusting... but he still sounded as good as the record.

I agree 100 percent with Exodus. Not an outright terrible band by any means, as they have some good songs and the instrumental aspects of them can be really good and even great. They’re damn good in that department. It’s their singer that is the big weak link for me like you said. He’s not the worst singer ever but something about his style is just off for me and takes me out of the experience. I’d probably like them and listen to them more if they had a different vocalist

Thanks for making me aware of them having another vocalist, I’ve been really trying to expand my range of metal bands I listen to and Exodus is one I’m REALLY close to liking regularly but I gotta find the right singer, and I might find it in Rob Dukes. Once again, thank you for the recommendation good sir, much appreciated

The thing with classic Anthrax is, you have to be an oldschool metalhead (because of the 80s speed metal style vocals) and have some appreciation for 80s hardcore punk (because of the overall vibe). Gotta agree with a lot of these, man. Great vid. As a fan of Anthrax, I actually got into them via their more groove metal 1990s albums with John Bush on vocals. The Sound of White Noise and Stomp 442 are utterly pummelling and much different from the Balledonna stuff. Motley Crue’s self-titled album which they recorded with John Corabi instead of Neil is also pretty stellar, with much less vapid songs and a far heavier, dirtier sound and darker tone (because 90s grunge, but still). Like with Bush era Anthrax, it’s basically a different band so shouldn’t be dismissed sight unseen. I’m guessing you’re very aware of these, but just thought I’d mention them.

Man, I agree a lot with your takes. I think there is a trend in rock/metal to have dudes who think they can sing but can't really, but are there for things outside of the music (like being a showman, or being handsome or whatever). Like, in my opinion, Dr Feelgood would be a masterpiece if it wasn't for Vince's vocals, and I have noticed many bands I don't like have really good instrumentals but absolutely awful vocals ruinning them, and it's impossible to ignore because it is the lead melody after all. Also, both Crew and Manson have in common that they are wasting John 5's talent, haha

I was a huge Metallica fan back in the day. Three of the four walls in my bedroom were dedicated to them, like literally covered from floor to ceiling in posters and pages ripped out of Kerrang. I waited outside my local hmv the day ‘justice’ came out (much to the puzzlement of the staff) and was lucky enough to see them on that tour but when I first heard the black album I was so disappointed. With each track I was anticipating that smack in the face as they kicked into gear and with each track my disappointment deepened when it never came. I was absolutely gutted. By the time load came out I didn’t even recognise them anymore, they had become everything they had previously claimed to hate. I’m over it now of course but sometimes I do wonder what they might have done if they’d retained their artistic integrity, I think they still would have become one of the biggest bands ever but I guess we’ll never know. Also, yeah fuck the offspring and Coldplay.

I found myself really only liking about half of Justice however, and when the Black Album came out, I was completely let down. I liked a few tunes on Death Magnetic, but overall, it's been extremely hit or miss since then. Mostly miss, if I'm honest. And for fuck's sake, can they pleeeease stop with the Unforgiven sequels? They had a hit with the first one. I get it. But enough already.

The general consensus is losing Cliff Burton completely changed everything. They bullied Jason Newsted and grew increasingly paranoid over future albums to the point where they imploded, Jason quit, and Rob Trujillo joined and restored peace within the band. They obviously will never hit the heights of those first few albums with the new stuff they put out, but at least they still tour and embrace performing the olden goldies.

Thank you, Jesus, thank you. My playstyle was very much influenced by Kirk Hammett, so much so that whenever a new album came out, I was quick to understand what he was doing in his guitar breaks and solos. I loved the bands riffs, too. Refreshing, for one. Then the Black album hit, and it all became a bit boring and tired. I recognise that they still come up with decent riffs, but they did stop standing out many, many years ago for me.

I don't think so. They've been through the 3 stages and are now kicking ass once more.

I actually agree on most bands. From Thrash I like all the bands you listed except from Metallica since Black Album, I’m not a fan of it and the rest of their albums, Megadeth is 50/50 to me as well because Mustaine’s voice does not sound good in their heavier songs but I appreciate them, Anthrax I never listened to maybe I try, I like Exodus and I do like vocals, bands like Van Halen, Motley Crue I don’t like, Pearl Jam I know only one song- Black Betty and it’s not bad, Coldplay is a mainstream sh*t nowadays so I agree, The Offspring has some good “party” like songs but I’m not much into punk so I prefer other bands and Manson I never really listened to but his music is like too dark sometimes, I prefer bands like Type O Negative, My Dying Bride, Katatonia and so on.
