Whether people like Layne and AIC, they are the only true grunge band, IMO. They have some amazing songs, and Dirt is the most appropriate album title ever. It is so dirty and grungy. Love them or hate them, but don't hate the music. They are a grunge and alternate rock band that metal fans actually like or at least can appreciate their music. Not liking AIC because of Layne's voice is just strange to me. Man in a box and Would? are 2 of the best songs in any genre of music. If anyone does not know AIC then give them a listen. They are great.

Hey, I'm a new-ish subscriber to the channel and don't think I've commented before. But I'm going to now. Ultimately we all like what we like and have our own perfectly good and valid reasons for doing so. It's worth keeping in mind too that often people listen to music for completely different reasons than we ourselves do. For some, a catchy song nd a fun beat is perfectly fine and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. For some people "a bunch of killer riffs" is simply not enough to inspire them wehreas I suspect for a lot of metalheads it's pretty much the staple of how we like and respect this genre. ANyway as I've gotten into my forties I basically came to the conclusion that I don't really hate artists anymore. Hatred is personal and I don't have a personal connection with much of the music I dislike. I really haven't got time for any of the so-called nu metal bands (including Korn, sorry, but hey I did appreciate that first album for a while there, too), but I get why people enjoy it, for the most part. I used to think I hated U2 until i actually sat down and listened to a bunch of their albums, and actually now I really enjoy them up to and including Acthung! Oasis, yeah I get it, What's the Story Morning Glory was an album I jammed pretty hard back in highschool days, though the interest didn't last too long. Are you from the UK? I feel like a lot of people in the UK really hated them, not sure if it was because of their attitude or wwhat, but here in north America they seemed to be the only "Britpop" band that people really knew about. One Pulp song got popular and maybe three or four Blur tunes. As for the Gallaghers, well, Rory Gallagher is more my jam these days, but the brothers did make a few tunes I still enjoy, like the song "Morning Glory", which I think rocks pretty good. They really love their Beatles/lennon, don't they?

Bands I can't stand anymore: Metallica Most Hair Metal Bands(Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, etc) Bands I have never liked: Nirvana Linkin Park Limp Bizkit Slipknot the Nu Metal genre really didn't draw me in. I don't necessarily hate any of these, but more I just don't enjoy their music. Metallica pre-Black Album I really enjoyed and still do for the most part, but the Band's(specifically Lars) comments and general greed really became off-putting. It felt like they were in it for the music, but just the money.

6:26 that’s exactly how I feel about late 2010s and 2020s, except it’s the other way - it seems to get more popular over time to me, though that’s up for debate, but creatively it’s in great spot right now. For me, it’s certainly Límp Bizkit. I love Limp Bizkit, even the later stuff. Now, I get some might dislike the commercial nature of them or certain people within the band. But the first album - Counterfeit, similiar to Korn’s debut is heavy, gritty, funky, has that kind of almost Primus like wackyness going on and for sure there wasn’t anything else that sounded like that in 1996.

People hate Alice in Chains.. Right that's it let me at em!!!... But in all seriousness though Great video and honestly I like all these bands you have mentioned.. Maybe not so much U2 but I'd be lying If I said I didn't like some of their stuff. Sunday Bloody Sunday and Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me, Kill me will always be great songs to me. To be honest for every band I like, I can see the other side of the argument too, for example, I'm a huge Dream Theater fan, I absolutely love their stuff. However I can understand why some people might find them a little pretentious and why some people may not enjoy James Labries vocals.. But for me they can do no wrong. Great vid.

It would be interesting to hear which bands you WANT to like but just can't quite get into. For me Gojira is a band I should love and want to love but too many of their songs leave me cold. It's not that they're bad, it's just they're missing something that really makes them appeal to me. Opeth are another band I respect without truly liking.

I got into Mastodon right before Crack the Skye and while not all their albums since have really blown me away like their early material, they are still one of my favorite metal bands. Not a huge fan of Korn myself, but I just saw them Live with Gojira and both kicked ass!! Haven't really listened to Slayer or Pantera much over the years, but I certainly don't dislike them. Queen's Greatest Hits is enough for me. Oasis first two albums were masterpieces, even if Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova have been overplayed to death. Toxicity is one of the best metal albums of all time! Faith No More are legendary, and no album sounded like the last. King for a Day was their best in my opinion. I think the dislike for Alice in Chains is more to do with the post Layne Staley era, which I don't get because their sound remains largely intact. That is for the most part due to Jerry Cantrell, whose solo albums also sound very Alice Chains-esque.
@ThatMetalBlokeАй бұрын
I know that Jerry's first solo album was intended to be an Alice in Chains album but obviously we all know what happened with Layne. It is a real shame. I can see why people don't take to the later stuff but I think there are some amazing songs

I might reconsider early "The Offspring". What I remember from the first album is pretty good, and I still don't know the second album (apart from the good song "Burn It Up"). However, I might never again listen to "Smash", "Ixnaye On the Hombre" (my first album of them) or the songs "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" and "Why don't you get a job". I stopped hearing their albums after "Hombre".

Agree with FNM, Oasis, S.O.A.D. Slayer. I dont disagree that the 1st KORN was a heavy album. The problem is its stuck in ONE tempo, one groove. I bought it early on, but after going through it my initial reaction was no variety song to song, just different intros.Outside of 2-3 songs I thought AIC Dirt was pretty boring as well, only really liked Facelift. Gave up on them after Dirt. Pantera's groove riffs also never moved me. Especially that walk song, very meh!!!! But Im glad for Pantera b.c. it sent me to the underground to find bands like Cynic, Nile, Disincarnate, Acid Bath (they knew how to groove!) MDB, Dissection, Morgion, Soilent Green, ATG etc. Metal was great in the 90's if you knew where to find the good stuff.
@caseyjones9359Ай бұрын

Firstly thank you for my forgiveness haha. This was a great video. I'm much like you to be honest, there's not enough time in life to spend time hating bands. I just listen to stuff I do like instead and to be fair most on my original list I don't hate and actually like some of their stuff, it's just I don't like them as much as other people seem to... having said all that if you need some more for your next video, I missed a few: Fear Factory: I liked them when they came out but then they just wrote the same song over and over again. Now when I listen back I think I only need Replica and the opening track from that abum and I'm done. Not being a death metal head the first allbum never did it for me and every album after Demanufacture is a not as good version of that. Soulfly: Same problem. I quite liked the first album at the time and got a couple after that but to be honest when I go back to this stuff, Roots and Chaos AD blows it out the water, so what's the point? Skindred: I think by that I had first heard of them I'd already gotten completely bored of nu metal and anything close to it. I just put Skindred down as a Soulfly type of thing and never bothered listening to them which is all on me. However fast forward to Bloodstock (2019 ish) and they were playing. I thought I'd give them a chance as everyone keeps saying they are amazing live. I just found them annoying. If Benji stopped one song to say 'No, no, no, you're not loud enough, let's try that again' I wouldn't have minded, but it was every $£"£ing song! I just found it irritating and apparently they always play the same setlist which I would find boring. On a side note I'm not much of an Oasis fan although I find them hilarious to listen to in interviews. Lot's of other indie bands I do like. Keep up the great work, these types of videos are fun.
@ThatMetalBlokeАй бұрын
I enjoy a lot of Fear Factory but I definitely agree that they have recycled a lot of their stuff over the years. I feel the same way as you in regards to Soulfly and Skindred. Soulfly had a few good tracks but nothing in comparison to his time with Sepultura. I would recommend the later Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy albums however as they are much more in line with his Sepultura days. I never got into Skindred. They seem like cool guys but the music just does nothing for me. Glad you enjoyed the video bro 🤘

I could go on for hours with all the bands I hate, but I'll try and just do 10. Hard to understand hate for Slayer or Pantera, especially since this is mainly a metal channel. Those two bands are part of the backbone of all metal. Incredible legacy and amazing albums. I understand the hate for Mastodon. A band that changes their musical style as much as they change their underwear. I loved the first 3 albums, then they started getting commercial, then went very mainstream, then went back to hard rock/metal, then dropped another really mainstream, boring album. Very irritating. Korn is OK, but nothing special. Oasis had some good songs back in the 90's, but a band I never listen to anymore. I also don't get the hate for Alice in Chains. I really dig that band, especially those first two albums. My list of manure: 1. BabyMetal (an absolute embarrassment) 2. Limp Bizkit (obviously) 3. Blink 182 (and all the bands that sound like them) 4. Avenged Sevenfold 5. Sleep Token 6. System of a Down 7. Ghost (overrated, boring rock) 8. Papa Roach 9. Any rap artist (horrible ripped off "music" and even worse in the lyrical department) 10. Any country artist (the most basic and dumb lyrics ever-woman, check...weekend, check...pickup truck, check)

As someone with a rather broad taste in rock and metal music, I honestly agree with you when it comes to most of these bands. Especially Queen, which is one of my favorites. At the risk of being crucified by the entire metal gatekeeping community, I'll even throw in some unpopular ones of my own: I have always loved Limp Bizkit, and I unironically like a bunch of songs from Nickleback. ...I'll see myself out now. 😆
