Tractor Time with Tim used the Ventrac compact tractor with the boom mower attachment to mow an overgrown ditch for the customer we need to lose - Joe! This was the first use of the boom mower for both TTWT and Joe. In the past, Joe used a weed eater to cut down the overgrown weeds but Vinny and the Boom Mower saved him hours for work this year!

I wish I had seen your videos on the Ventrac about four months ago before I signed the dotted line for my 1025R. That is a very nice machine. I love that most of it' implements are out front for etter visibility. The only thing my 1025 would be better at is the backhoe. I don't think the Ventrak is very well set up for one. I love that boom mower! For my little ditch I simply run a small 3-1/2hp push mower up and down my short, but steep slope using a rope! My 1025 nor my zero turn can get down into that ditch without slipping all the way into muck. I use a lot of Roundup and mow it down twice a year. That Ventrak would make it fun to mow several times a year, though.

A compact excavator and flail mower would be a better idea for keeping that down. With that combo, the grass, brush, sprouts, etc., would be shredded finer and left as mulch.
@Drew6709

Unfortunately I mean a machine larger than Casey. A machine in the 40-60 hp range. With one of those machines, either a flail or rotary mower could be implemented. And dig the drainage ditch out with a ditching bucket. If Tim gets a track loader, there are boom mowers for track/skid steers. Those thick stands of grass would be better dealt with by a flail or rotary mower. Just a few ideas.

When we used sickle mowers like that for hay (in the old days...), the tip had a bar on the end that stuck up so you could tell where the tip was. Made it easier to tell but it may add another place for grass or cause a clearance problem going under lower stuff. Pretty cool tool though.

Awesome design tim. Do they make a flail head attachment? Sure seems like these bigger grasses and weeds could do with mulching. But that finger bar design would be real nice for garden hedges and finer finishing.

Joe seems like a great guy. Praise God he didn't get killed or hurt any worse than he did I'm sure he had a tough recovery burns can be some of the worst and most pain full injuries to recover from. I Pray they catch the other driver someday. Tim with all the attachments they have to offer I think the ventrac is perfect for a property layout like Joe has nothing against Johnny but I think the ventrac would be a better for him. I was really impressed with the cycle mower and how well it did. I thought you were doing a great Job for the first time using it and Joe seemed to get the hang of it pretty quick as well. Great video as always and another great Job by TTWT. Have a great week. God Bless!!!

Bomford turner makes the micro klippa that would fit your tractor. It's pto driven. There's dealers in the states that carry it. You can also trim bushes with that. There's a number of companies that offer 3ph boom style mowers that include the sycle bar, rotary, and flail mowers. Bush hog, tiger, alamo, in the states. Alamo is used on bigger machines. Tim, you got to check out Alamo mowers, they got a remote controlled mower with different attachments.

Tim, just forget about it! You are just having fun with a new toy. My son ended up buying 19 acres with a small house and a nice 20x40 workshop - big enough to get his big W900L Kenworth into it without the RGN trailer. He bought a used Yanmar 2 cylinder diesel tractor and a 42" brush hog. It cuts very well but there is one problem. The shift lever is in the middle of the tractor; i.e. between your legs. My son is 6'5" with big broad shoulders. To get into hi, he has to stand up and sit atop the seat. Funny to watch. He will need to get a tractor of some size since he has 7 acres on one side of the creek and 12 acres on the other side. There is a ford but the Yamar is not adequate to the task. An elderly couple owned the property but when the husband became ill and then ied, the big pasture got no attention. So we need to get someone with a foresty mulcher and clear five acres for the two horses. Some of the saplings are about 1 1/2". I think the only alternative is a wee-wacker with a saw blade on it, pick up the saplings and then use a brush hog, use a disc harrow and over seed. Any thoughts?

I wanted to be able to stay with a single type of fuel (Diesel). This makes storage easier for me. I really like diesel engines. However, I've used this Kawasaki gasoline version now for several hours. I'm very impressed. The fuel injection means that it starts perfectly. It has tons of power at full throttle. Enough to run the tough cut mower over large trees while driving straight up a steep bank. Overall, wondering if I should have chosen this engine :-) Kinda glad we are trying the diesel too. I'll have more input after using it for awhile. As for Kawasaki vs. the Kubota gasoline engine, I don't have much feedback. I used the Kubota gasoline version with the tough cut for just a few minutes at the Ventrac headquarters. Not enough to fully compare. However, I would not dismiss the Kawasaki engine. Very nice!

Tim, the ROPS on the Vetrac appears to be too short to offer any rollover protection. If I draw a line from the top of the ROPS to the top front of the hood, your head is above that line. Do they offer a taller ROPS? I realize that the design of the equipment makes it very stable from rollover, but somebody, somewhere will eventually figure out how to roll it.
