I think it was Jonas. Vendata switched the tapes for movie night leading to the whole crew seeing what kind of man Jonas really was. Jonas needed to silence all the witnesses, but probably did not intend to die himself - someone perhaps sabotaged his escape attempt, or he reckoned his friends would do a better job of saving him

Three things wrong with this: 1) Red Death's story says that the plot to hold Venture hostage went off flawlessly, until the doors were opened, which means Venture was in the viewing room, and not in a position to flip any switches in there, either. 2) No one on either side knows for certain who pulled it, and the working theory is that it was a crew member who went berserk for an unspecified to the audience reason. This means that who the Gargantuan crew think did it actually did go insane, but Red Death seems to know something that proves the person innocent. 3) Red Death was watching Sharky's Machine when the incident happened, so the tapes weren't switched. The evidence given points to a few things, but I think we were just given a lot of red herrings onscreen, with the clues as background props, throwaway jokes, etc... Look there.

We saw Rusty and Billy pop out of that time machine. I'm thinking that Rusty and Billy (after the O.R.B., multiple instances of working together and improving their team cohesion, and the weather changing incident) get back into the "Globetrotting Super Science" game, just to find themselves way in over their heads, back tracking through time to find out that they themselves are the first supervillain and henchman (setting the model for what would torment Rusty throughout his life, especially childhood), as well as causing the movie night disaster
@WeebBeBallin6 жыл бұрын
The flaw of this is that Vendata would have to take the tape with him so it could end up in the Morpho Cave for 21 to find it later. Manstrong could still be the culprit but Vendata has to leave with that tape.

@MarkPL076 жыл бұрын
Kano. Kano worked for B.M. before Jonas had him join team Venture, so he knew where the Morpho cave was. After team Venture put Jonas in the PROBLEM they would have had to go to the control room in order to seal the doors. There they find the sex tape and Kano wanting to protect not necessarily Jonas's image, but his old friend B.M. (he's unaware Z remade him into Vendata) takes the tape back to the Morpho cave for safekeeping.

Damn... Red Death is such a good character! He is both terrifying and hilarious and caring all at the same time. Also it was probably Manstrong, he probably didn't faint or black out but backed up in disgust when he played the sex tape and open the bay doors. Manstrong probably knows that he caused the massacre and blames sex and arousal on it as a defense mechanism.
@keatonkitsune40646 жыл бұрын
It's mainly KMACK TIME's theory, besides I wouldn't have even come up with it if it weren't for the video (Forgot entirely about Manstrong). It's just slightly tweaked. I wouldn't be surprised if they took it a step further and he tried to get off on the film and accidentally opened the doors. The point is it's most likely Manstrong. The only survivor. It'd be funny if Red Death confirms it as his suspicion as he says he has them about who caused the massacre. The biggest thing to take away from Arrears in Science is... Not that Jonas is an ass, not that it's basically confirmed that Rusty and Malcolm are related (I still hope they aren't cause The Monarch does that weird mouth teeth thing the Blue Morpho does) but that the OSI is taking Jonas' brain. Probably make him into a robot so we can finally have Rusty physically confront his father.

I recently saw episode 2 again and I got to say, that little description he gave of the night it happened sounded like he knew who did it! Either him (the paper boy yelling “it’s movie night”) or maybe even Jonas, who was the one starting movie night!
@phill8846 жыл бұрын
I think you're close. Manstrong probably didn't black out in his youth but the trauma and guilt of killing every one from his first exposure to sexual arousal probably caused his blackouts from then on. I'm sure he would have blocked out the memory of the event so he probably doesn't know on a concious level that he did it.
@davidburesh6 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. Manstrong was not allowed to attend Sharky's Machine (it was rated R, after all, and he was a youth). He wound up in the projection room, found the sex tape, put it on, became aroused, and then probably started... "dealing" with that arousal. The question is: did Manstrong flip the switch by accident (falling into it, grabbing it and pulling it, etc)? Or did he somehow turn on a microphone or video camera by accident, broadcasting himself into the room, get laughed at and humiliated, and then pulled the switch intentionally, and repressed the memory due to trauma?
@fiyahspinnah6 жыл бұрын
I like the theory. My guess is that the tape was left playing. He walked in and started touching himself. Someone else walked in on him and he fumbled in embarrassment to shut off the tape, but instead unknowingly threw the bay door switch and the trauma of knowing he killed everyone keeps him deathly afraid of sex.

I've been peaking at VB theories all morning and so far, this is best. My first assumption was that it was Jonas who pulled the lever (perhaps even having a good reason for doing so) and he just blamed it on Vendata because he's a massive prick. But the more I think about it, Manstrong is a perfect suspect. But rather than him blacking out and falling on the lever after accidentally playing the tape, I'd just to the conclusion that Vendata played the tape like he said he was going to, the whole thing was too much for Young Manstrong, and he either was trying to shut it off and pulled the wrong lever by mistake or even *deliberately* pulled the lever in a fit of arousal, fear, and disgust. The whole thing was so horrible and traumatizing that he not only blocked it out, but his subconscious now associates arousal with very bad things, which would explain both the blackouts and his prudery.

KMACK TIME I think it makes perfect sense. It would also explain Mastrong's disassociation with the event despite being on the station at the time and he used it as a ghost story to entertain Hank and Dean. Maybe his mother found out and victim blamed him for "perverted thoughts" and brainwashed him into secrecy. Although Jonas Venture did deserve to die, no one else on that ship did. Also its not acknowledged by the show yet, but that means Jonas abandoned Monarch/Malcolm to die in the forest when he recovered BM's body. He also could have rebuilt Mrs. Fitzcaldo but chose not to. Instead, he rebuilt his old friend, made him a robo nanny to Rusty, wiped his mind of any free thought and I assume that he believed Venturra would believe he was protecting Malcom since the kids look so much alike. He twisted his "friend's" passion for fatherhood and family into something to meet his own twisted needs time and time again. And then just dropped his supposed dead body in the trash when he no longer served a purpose. No funeral, just a dumpster. Jonas was a swinging neglectful sociopath who does not deserve all the good cred from the superscientist community he gets thanks to his PR.

I still think it was indeed Vendata...but at the same time your theory definitely holds water.

Red Death has become one of my favorite Venture Brother Characters. His monologues are fantastic! I like your theory because it makes a lot of sense: the only survivor was the one who caused the problem. If we accept as a given that Venturian didn't do it, we are left with a lack of other suspects. The only known survivors of the massacre were young Manstrom, Red Death, Venturian, and Jonas Venture. If it wasn't them then how about Doctor Thadeus Venture as an unwitting suspect? He accidentally sabotaged the station TWICE, by leaving a toy in the control panel as a boy and by dripping liquid on a control panel as an adult. He was involved in constructing the station. Maybe one more inadvertant mistake will be revealed? Another potential suspect would be the Sovereign. He was a shape shifter who could have stowed away on the rookie villains' space ship disguised as a piece of equipment. In support of this, the Sovereign benefitted the most from the movie night massacre because he used it to get the OSI to wipe out his rivals, SPHINX.

Something about Jonas death pose seems off. Out of everyone floating by. Jonas is the only one in any kind of motion pose. The sudden depressurize would have yanked him out and left him in one of the many other final poses like the rest of the crew. His is the only one to suggest he was trying to do something. Either escape or he may have already been shot into space way before the bay doors opened. Vindatta couldn't have kept the tape as it some how ends up in his home in Newark but that couldn't have been by him as he had no memory of that night, unless he had another mind wipe at some point over the years after taking the tape to the last place he remembered after having a flash of his old memories like shown in another episode. If he had mentioned that Dr. Venture told him he was the blue morpho, He would have been scrapped on the spot by sovereign as Blue morpho was already top of the enemies list for the Guild... What if Manstrong really did find the tape Get off and started wacking it and Jonas came back to see if Vindatta was still there and in a panic he went to shut off the tape he pulled the lever. Causing an emergency panel to slide between them and kept Manstrong from being pulled and Jonas was sucked out as he was yelling at him not to pull the lever

4:11 Its obvious. Young teen Manstrong gives into his sexual feelings due to the Rated R film or perhaps just went in there to be alone and do that, gets walked in on or has Billy and Dr. Venture (Rusty) teleport in with the time machine scaring him. He falls over panicking and grabs the handle causing everyone to get airlocked, the duo time travels away or whoever else it was bolts. Kano when closing the bay door finds the tape of Jonas Venture and Blur Morpho and hides it in his cave. Because of the trauma of what he did due to sexual arousal, Manstrong swears off such as he has PTSD flashbacks of that night. He creates the story of the crewmember who snapped to try to shift blame while lying to himself.

I believe that Manstrong was the one responsible for the Movie Night Massacre. But I don't think it was an accident. I think Manstrong did it on purpose. Manstrong said that before the Movie Night Massacre, one of the crew members happened to _crack_ before gathering everyone together for, quoting Manstrong himself, "what he called Movie Night." Manstrong seemed pretty unhinged himself. Not only did the man spend 6 whole years on that Space Station alone with the smoking hot Lieutenant Baldovich (barring her horrifying face and mushroom hair.) and not once even THINK about getting any of that ass, but he also picked a fight with BROCK SAMSON. TWICE! The first time being an accident, but then he put up his dukes when he saw his mother on Brock's lap. In Red Death's flashback to the Movie Night Massacre, it was the paperboy, a.k.a. Manstrong, who told everyone about Movie Night and not some random crew member. As to why Manstrong might've done it, I think that inside, he was pissed about being stuck as a paperboy on that Station. Think about it. How would you feel if you signed up to go up to an advanced international space station where over two thousand people would be dedicating their lives to super science, only to wind up as the _PAPERBOY._ Manstrong must have wanted more than just handing over a thousand people their newspapers every single day. I think that in his unhinged mind, Manstrong figured that if a catastrophic event were to occur, killing almost everyone on the entire station, then he'd HAVE to be promoted to a position much better than a paperboy. So on "Movie Night", Manstrong, not realizing that during all of this, a group of villains had infiltrated the station to hold Jonas Venture hostage, made sure that nobody was around to notice him while he slipped into the control room and opened the bay doors on everyone as they were watching Burt Reynolds' "Sharky's Machine", killing almost the entire crew, including Jonas Venture and three unlucky super villains. Years later, after surviving the massacre, Manstrong becomes one of the two people solely in charge of maintaining Gargantua 1. He even survives the station crashing to earth and stands in the oval office as a "hero" until he gets exposed by Rusty and has a total breakdown. I think Manstrong is responsible for the Movie Night Massacre. And I think it wasn't an accident.

Jonas said the last thing he remembers is the opening song from sharky's machine about 2 minutes in. When vandata is talking to Jonas in the control room Jonas walks over and puts the movie in which starts playing the movie and you can hear "street life" opening theme and see in on the tiny screen " the song starts about 27 seconds into tape play time. " this means that Jonas just got back to the cargo-bay and sat down before the doors were open.

Blacking out isn't a symptom of sex, it's a symptom from his first "sexual experience" (in this case, his first time viewing "porno"). He accidentally killed everyone while watching, and has convinced himself that it was another person to protect his psyche, but every time something sexual happens he recalls the truth, and blacks out over it.

Let's think about this...there were both "heros" and "villains" (terns used subjectively of course) present at movie night, remember Red Death mentioning they had an undercover squad mixed in? This is why it absolutely couldn't have been Vendetta/Venturion. Regardless of which personality he was in, he had allies present and wouldn't have done it. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if it was somebody from the past...future Sovereign, Henry Killinger, Richard Impossible...the options are endless.

Some big questions: • who/what is Rusty? We now know from the last season that Rusty is a clone, but a clone of who & why was he created? My guess is he’s either a clone of Jonas (Jonas wanted some spare parts on hand in case he needed a kidney, or maybe he wanted to live forever and was planning on transferring his consciousness to the body later), or maybe there really was a son of Jonas who died and not wanting to lose the public’s favor he cloned his son so that he’d still stay popular. • who is the real villain of the series/why did the ‘good guys’ let Jonas get away with as much shit as he did? When we started learning about Jonas, it became clear that he was more into the game for the popularity & woman than the honor & science. Now we’ve learned how many truly horrible acts he’s committed in his own interest (he locked a group of children with experimental gas under his house to basically die just so it wouldn’t get out that his beta testing AI wasn’t ready, to name 1), I mean give this guy a maniacal laugh b/c he is evil. But why did the heroes turn a blind eye? What did he do/create/know or even have on them to let him get away and keep playing this game of his for so long?

This is a pretty popular theory. I said the same thing myself after it aired. Its certainly the most plausible. But considering the state of affairs regarding the show at this point, it may forever remain in the realm of conjecture.

similar, but the movie night movie was inserted in that room, vendata/blue morpho could of swapped the tapes and the kid freaked to go turn it off and (not know how to do so) opened the bay doors

I think your theory is spot on when it comes to manstrong opening the bay doors. I don't think he blacked out but out of rage maybe opened them. or maybe he needed to catch himself from falling and grabbed the lever by mistake
@ryanhernandez56324 жыл бұрын
You know I figure Dr. Jonas venture is the one who opened the air lock. I could see him having a whole "I was the villian the whole time speech, aswel as glotting about how he not only owned/ruined blue morpho/venturian/vendata's life, he could and has easily done so to many others. All the while vendata confidently turned on the microphone to the station( most of whom were gathered in the docking bay for movie night). Hell vendatta could have easily switched the movie tape with something incriminating too With ventures dirty laundry revealed he was left with the option to bribe his way out, face the osi/guild for his crimes, or most likely eliminate the evidence. As to how he ended up in space........well he probably fought vendatta and they got spaced at some point

Bottom line. We have two suspects. But honestly here is what really happened. Manstrong walked in when dr. Venture was at movie night. And yes the black out did happen. But the blue morpho arm slipped on the lever in shock. So it was kind of an accident. I think it was the blue morpho before he got his Memories Back. Dr. Venture was trolling him thinking it was his old friend. But his memories weren't there. So there is a good chance dr. Venture prideful ways thinking he is smarter and wiser than everyone else essentially blew up in his face. Because it was a mix of the Manstrong blacking out. Dr. Venture leaving the porn tape playing and the blue morpho before he got his Memories Back threatening to open the airlock bay doors with his hand on the lever and was shocked by the black out of Manstrong. his hand slipped in shock.
@bradpotts17476 жыл бұрын
sex tape caused him to fall backwards in shock at witnessing the depravity of such heroic a figure as dr jonas venture. he stumbles into the lever activating the bay doors. the horror at what he had done [though it was an accident] still haunts him to this day. the scene he witnessed at the same time causes him to dissociate this event with sex. witnessing anything sexual causes the trauma [possibly ptsd though it was not quite so sever, so i have my doubts on that.] to surface.

I kinda like to think it was The Investors. It's pretty obvious that Jonas was a bad man so whose to say he didn't make a deal with the Investors in order to become rich and famous. Like when his h.e.l.p.e.r. robots were destroyed in mass, something like that would have tarnished anyone's name no matter how popular they were. Yet it was swept under the rug and completely buried with a story highlighting how good of a person Jonas was. Killing him was just his payment so the pyramid wars could be set off and set every in motion for Brock in the OSI
@showme2theexit4 жыл бұрын
The investors. They have been around since back then under the cover of different Guild names. As we have seen, despite their powers suppose to not be used to meddle with the others and only observe, they denied that and wanted to mess with people an make deals. I would not doubt that like Jr, Jonas Sr. likely also got loans from them. I mean how else did two character get cancer and start decaying so quickly?
@Talongirl3335 жыл бұрын
Here’s a movie night theory: what if Jonas had released the switch to kill the crew, intending to pin it on Vendata BUT one of Rusty’s lil plastic figures messed him up, like he stepped on it or when he went to grab a safety bar it poked him & cause him to let go. Those toys normally come in a decent size pack, so it would stand to reason he’d leave a few of them scattered around the place. For Bud, maybe he stumbled into that control room-saw the video tape there, figured since he couldn’t go to the other movie he’d see this one-started getting ‘handsy’ as the tape went on-and maybe someone/something hit him that caused him to black out OR when he realized that he crew was dead but could have all been saved if he had not been watching a sex tape and been available to shut the doors-this left an imprint in his subconscious similar to survivor’s guilt where he’d get that rush of emotions when he’d become sexually aroused.
@wisconsinbuddah6 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing it wasn't Manstrong falling into the controls. i guess that he put the sex tape in the deck, witnessed Jonas in an orgy, which then scarred him sexually for life. Then in an mad attempt to turn off the VHS, he pulled the lever opening the doors. It doesn't explain how he survived, but knowing Jackson and Doc something is going to be retconned. or i guess reverse-retconned? ( I don't know the term for using a previous throwaway joke years later as actual important story, if such a word even exists.)

I do think Manstrong accidentally opened the bay door. Though, I feel he did find the tape, watched it, and started to pleasure himself. Upon doing so either was caught or reached climax and in the panic pulled the lever! The trauma of the incident has stayed with him this entire time! He satisfying his urges caused the death of so many people!
@andrews58676 жыл бұрын
You didn't come up with this, but this is correct. It's why every following time he blacks out when aroused. He cannot get over the regressed.memory of killing everyone.

In Episode 3, they nearly said (and strongly implied) that Jonas Sr. Is The Monarch’s (Malcolm’s) father. He “helped” Blue Morpho’s wife get pregnant. It’ll be interesting to see if they fully commit to that.

Well my theory is that he was disgusted by seeing Jonas venture someone that at the time most idolized behave in such a manner he did it to get rid of him not realizing the movie had started which caused the massacre causing said blackouts

IMO it was Rusty unintentionally, those cowboy toys melting in the control panel.

You makes some good points. I could see this being true. I don't think that Vendata understood that he was actually Blue Morpho though. Might be wrong though.

I'm still for the fact Jonas might have orchestrated the whole thing, he had some machiavellian idea, bee it freezing himself in PROBLEM, or alterity, Vendata hacked the system and showed the Ventures black market stuff, not just the sex tape, Jonas did the venting, knowing his "friends" would save him,....sort of,

What if little Rusty accidentally opened the bay doors just like in season 1 where he unknowingly opened the cargo door and almost killed Brock. Then he left that toy cowboy that made the guys who's trying to save his father slipped and broke him into peaces.

I think it was Manstrong, one way or another. Another question though. The Cloning tech used to recreate Hank and Dean so many times dates back to Jonas. Why wasn't that used to bring him back?
@Ichiyama224 жыл бұрын
If I could offer a slight revision, maybe Manstrong has repressed the memory of causing the massacre? When you're a young kid and are suddenly faced with the realities of reproduction, it can sometimes be a shock to the system depending on how you're introduced to it. Imagine a young Manstrong playing the tape out of curiosity and BOOM suddenly he's face-to-face with his (and many other kids') idol _the_ Jonas Venture and the renegade vigilante Blue Morpho doing all sorts of odd, confusing things to women. It could've been enough to send him stumbling back, maybe tripping and grabbing the lever for the hangar bay doors by complete accident. The horrible fate of almost the entire Gargantua staff likely overwhelmed the boy to the point of blacking out and fainting. When he came to, he had trauma-induced amnesia of the whole event, but sex triggers his PTSD and awakens his subconscious memories of what he'd done. That's why he's so afraid of sex. All he can associate it with is mass death and tragedy.
@Ironcaster4 жыл бұрын
This is largely my theory, but I think a piece being missed is that one of the women from the tape is most likely Manstrong's mother. To see his mother in that situation as possibly his first encounter with anything sexual could have further pushed the adversion to sex that Bud has as an adult. Seeing this, he may have likely freaked out and tried to push virtually every button to shut the tape off and open the bay doors went.
