Thanks for the amazing Oasis Coffee shoutout!! (This is Hollie, the owner). We'd be happy to have you back any time, even if you decide to spill another mocha 😉 The girls said you were super nice about it, and all is forgiven lol. We really appreciate the great shots and hope to see you in Ajo again!

As a huge fan and a guy who's taken inspiration enough to overland from you, please accept this minor criticism; I rewatched some old episodes of you traveling across Labrador, and those episodes were 35 minutes long, narrated daily and I felt as if I were there with you. Any plans on getting back to that format? The 15 minute long vids of you getting coffee and taking a hike somewhere are, well, not what I've grown used to from you. I'd love to see you and Shannon take an epic adventure beyond the southwest for several months! It honestly hooks me and I find I can't wait for the next episode!

Best summary of what is missing … the content feels forced now … before it was real & my wife and I could not wait for each new episode … now we take bets on over/under 20 min & what product he might review to fill time … Miss the original Venture4wd …

Noticed the earlier one also. Not sure I’d ever get used to that. Sure didn’t like driving a RHD vehicle overseas on the “wrong” side of the road then crossing a border and being in the opposite side of road. Or opposite, depending on the cars county of origin.

I’m not an overlander. Your time in the defender has inspired me to stop thinking about ‘building out’ a rig I drive to work every day. As an Oregon resident, it pained me to see your less than awesome experience when you passed through my area a couple years ago. Lots to discover on the west side on the cascades. Hope you enjoy your meander back to Portland.

Interesting to see you're in Mexico. One comment on you RHD Land Rover. Appears you are driving with the " rear fog light" on. That's the extra bright tail light on the right (driver's side) of the vehicle. Single back-up light is on the left.

At first, I thought the cheese had slipped of your pizza when you introduced the defender. But remembered growing up driving a 42'GPW and wheeling all over. Hence the true spirit of off-road adventure. Thanks for reminding us all that a $100,000 jeep is not necessary to have a great adventure. That thing sounds like my 59 Ford tractor.

You’ve done a good overview of this area. I travel through here often traveling to my house in Sonora, Mexico. I like Ajo very much and spent the night there in a motel in December. One of my favorite memories of Ajo is watching javelina pigs roaming the streets. Next time I will surely visit the Oasis for coffee.

Yea you definitely need Orangie back. Running back to base camp for supper and driving in to town for coffee. You're becoming domesticated Chris. We have been boondocking in that area twice and really liked it. Downside was the noisy and loud fighter jet traffic.The old WWII surplus folding army shovels are really great too but are now getting hard to find. we had them when we were kids in the '60's that we dug our forts with and I still have one.
@easttennessee60962 жыл бұрын
Looking at your new shovel reminded me of my grandfather's WW1 shovel which has a faded army green "T" on the upper end of the shaft. By the way, I'm glad that Orangy (sp.?) is coming back into the picture. I miss my 2013 Rubicon having replaced it with a 2019 Colorado ZR2 diesel truck.

I love the Ajo/Organ Pipe area. First visited back in '94 leading a group of Colorado College students on a 3 day backpacking adventure. A great side trip is to cross the border at 'Gringo Gap' (Lukeville) and go spend the day in Puerto Penasco on the Sea of Cortez. Just love that Sonoran Desert, especially this time of year. What did you think of those Mountainaire meals, seem reasonably priced compared to others but reviews on Amazon are pretty mixed. Hitting the road myself in a couple of weeks and heading south hoping for some warmth and sunshine in Arizona.

For those fans of Chris' orange Jeep...they may be interested to know another site from Canada has an orange Jeep as well. It takes you along off road to scenic areas of lakes and pines with beautiful photography and even drone views...other than just the Southwestern U.S. Although it seems the many videos may have come to an end almost a year ago...they are so worth the viewing. It may bridge the gap until Chris Shontz will HOPEFULLY get his own orange Jeep back. The site in YOU TUBE can be found under the title: STEVEN PEAT.
