One of the many reasons that I am drawn to your channel is the reality that you so tactfully expose in your episodes. If the bumps and bruises were never seen, then there would be a void. You've always been realistic and honest about your experiences. Its part of what makes me look forward to the next episode.

When I was younger being a boat mechanic we had Coast Guard inspections and one of the things I picked up was all through hull fittings had to be double clamped, like you did on the power steering hose. So because of that all my connections like that are double clamped, a plus is if you need a clamp for something else, easy to find.

If I received 100 bucks for every move I've undergone, I could pay cash for a Revel. As a military brat, as an active duty military man for 23 years and accepting jobs in several states including Hawaii after retirement I moved every year to two years...and I'm 74. Moves can be painful but I've pretty much got it down to a science. I'm downsizing my present home to begin a long journey throughout the lower 48, Canada and Alaska. My '19 GMC Savana 2500 cargo van is undergoing a conversion to include 4X4 installation. Nothing inspires me more than watching you and many other You Tubers travel and explore our beautiful country.

We had our power steering hose come loose about 2 months into owning our Sprinter. We were going down a windy mountain road and the fluids completely drained from the system. We were still able to drive it but had to really muscle the steering wheel to make turns. Made it to the closest Mercedes dealer where they did this same fix. That was about 3 years ago. So far it has not failed again after driving half way around the world. Just got the letter in our mailbox last month alerting us of the recall. Just a little late.

@dmwi15493 жыл бұрын
Chris. Thanks for the recall head up and video showing power steering hose location. My 2019’s bottom hose was 1/4 inch off after 5k miles. I pushed it back on by hand without loosening clamp. Not good. Hose was slippery too. Funny thing is the other end of that same hose is connected with a worm drive hose clamp. And theses aren’t pressure lines. The line above it, same clamp style, hadn’t moved. I’m buying clamps for both tomorrow. This will be my 5th recall in less than a year. The brake pedal bolt can’t be fixed yet and neither can one of the two software updates since dealer doesn’t have MB’s fix yet. I currently have 4 of 5 recalls pending and with work during the day, no late hours at dealer and travel every weekend I’m better off repairing this myself-after receiving the Dealers Service Managers blessing. Then they said they’d repair all recalls at same time once available. Saves me the 100 miles round trip to the dealer. Sheesh!
@dmwi15493 жыл бұрын
If a dealer told me my van wasn’t covered I’d have called MB Customer Service and sent them a photo. This would likely get the dealer to jump. And if that didn’t work I’d go for coffee and return to the dealer with the hose off, leaking fluid all over their lot. Maybe then you’d have a warranty claim and MB would have a reason to expand the range of vehicles in the recall. Because clearly your hose was on the way off.

Good Morning Chris! Good you took care of that pressure side hose. The pressure pushed the hose off the barb. Toyota's have the high pressure line like a brake hose; both ends are crimped and has a banjo bolt. Can’t believe a dealer said cannot fix until it is broken. Best if you said their name. MB will check into that. It is time for me to send my contribution via paypal. Stay safe and explore. I am planning a trip to NE corner of the country via PA.

Those piles of loose random stuff- I'm very familiar with those. These piles take a long time to deal with. Make one pass through them to decide what you are keeping and what you aren't, then put the keep stuff in boxes and pack in storage. Don't spend any more time on it. Regarding that hose- I would expect that a good worm drive clamp would work better, maybe buy a package of them to carry with you. And when buying these clamps always buy a name brand such as Ideal. I've been around garages for a long time and learned that the cheap clamps aren't worth the trouble.
