VERDICT REACHED: Trial of Trooper Brian North - Mar. 15, 2024

The six-person jury in Connecticut State Trooper Brian North's trial has reached a verdict.
North shot 19-year-old Mubarak Soulemane on Jan. 15, 2020, after the teen displayed a knife. North was charged with first-degree manslaughter with a firearm, and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

This case may make it possible for officers to use deadly force one what they think may happen. The body came footage showed him in the car not moving so we have to take the shooters word even though we don't see the suspect move to the knife on the body cam. All white juries.

As the defense said hindsight is 20 20. Mubarak may have seemed like he could function independently even though he needed more supervision. If his girlfriend had his brother's phone number things might have been differently. But I'm not the Monday Morning Quarterback. You can't give North a pass and then turn blame on his family.

I'm blindsided but I defer to the jury's judgement. They had better access to the evidence than I could see on these livestreams. I couldn't see the bosycam footage or hear the audio recordings clearly. I could only judge the spoken testimony.

We have a racist black Hamilton Co. cop here in TN that had filled a young white boy full of holes when he just jumped out of the car running from him! No questions asked! The same cop was in a shooting 2 WEEKS before, shooting someone else for not doing anything. But they survived. Nice huh?!?!
