I use mine regularly for all kinds of things. Shoulders, dados, hinges, grooves even level off small inserts. I’ve even used it to bottom out dovetails, just to see if I could, and yes it works for that as well.

Novice woodworker here with a question about inlay work. How do you prepare the piece to go into the channel? Is it as simple as I made a 1/2 inch wide channel that is 1/2 inch deep so I cut a 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch piece of wood (say Walnut because the main piece is Maple) at the band or table saw?
