Microwaving Grapes Makes Plasma

A bisected grape in the microwave makes plasma. But how does it work? A grape is the right size and refractive index to trap microwaves inside it. When you place two (or two halves) close together the fields interact with each other creating a maximum of electromagnetic energy where they touch. This creates heating, sparks, and plasma, which is further fed with energy directly by the microwaves.
Huge thanks to Hamza Khattak, Prof. Pablo Bianucci and Prof. Aaron Slepkov (unavailable for the call) for chatting to me and helping me understand the physics of this cool phenomenon.

So I rewatched this video today. And realized (and yes, apparently I'm stupid, can't believe I didnt think of this before.) That microwave ovens and wifi run on almost the same wavelength. And the reason I'm occasionally having wifi issues is because I have a shitty microwave and when it was running, my router was sitting on top of it and it would drop my wifi signal significantly. Thank you. Once again, yes I'm stupid.

Wait a sec, that would mean, your microwave is leaking microwave, (which it's not supposed to do.) hence disruptung your WiFi, ( They are both 2.45ghz but the only difference which makes one harmful to the other is that, the microwave from microwave is has much more power {700W} Whiles your router has about {100mW} 7000x less power. if you get exposed to the microwave from microwave, it's alter your genes aka cancer... So I really don't think what ever is happening there is safe at all, keep a distance always from your microwave or change it , Or am I too stupid to understand? (Edit): yes I was very stupid Unfortunately yes these waves aren't ionizing waves so they can't give you cancer or alter dna But according to someone 120W 2.4ghz can cook you from the inside, Based on my fear, just don't get exposure to it for long periods over long spans Just change it,,,,,,,

Any precaution tips for people who want to try this at home? Like looking at your video it seems like a great idea to cover grapes with something so that plasma won't extend further. Anything else? Also does power of microwave matters for this? And once again - thank you for educating people!
@eeshwaravvaru1232

Excellent video. But one thing was wrong, that the amplification of the waves varies with the electromagnetic absorption extent. This absorption extent depends on the bulk of the substance and not the surface area, as the internal as well as external absorption happens within the grape. Also, there is a continuous absorption and deflection of the microwaves within the grape, which does not allow the waves to escape out, somewhat similar to an optical medium in which light gets trapped as a result of total internal reflection. That's why the amplification, and therefore the concentration of the electromagnetic waves is maximum at the centre of the grape, and hence the two fields of electromagnetism interact with each other because of ionisation of periarieal air. This occured when my companion placed diced apples into our microwave. Granted the reaction was not as significant as those captured in this video. The apple had been in our fridge ,cut in half,for four days. Do you think the apple being left open in the fridge could have changed the chemical levels of the fruit thus making it possible for ions to be created more easily? Science is so exciting! A warning to those who might try this at home: when I created a small plasma in my microwave the plasma caused some kind of stress riser in the glass bowl I was using as a container and the moment I touched the glass with my fingers the glass exploded in all directions, with enough force that small pieces of glass that happened to have a straight shot out of the microwave ended up on the other side of the kitchen, about 3m away. I suggest using only plastic or wooden containers when working with plasma in the microwave.
