Gojira is one of my all time favorites. Groovy and rhythmic while technical and diverse with the instrumentation, then throw in some harsh screams and growls with some cleans. Call them technical death metal or (personally) progressive groove metal, either way, they are one of the sickest bands out there.

One can really appreciate the mastery of Gojira, when you can listen to their work in this somewhat isolated, purified context. When I listen to their tracks, they sound so natural, so fluid and so easy like they are walking in the park. Gojira always makes me want to pick up the guitar and do some crazy inverted power chords and funky pick scrapes. I remember I learned every riff from Ocean Planet in less than a day (but not the song lol).

They have such a distinctive riffing style. A lot of their best riffs start so basic and then keep adding elements in ways that you totally aren't expecting. From Mars to Sirius is my favorite, but every single album delivers.

Very recently became a fan of Gojira. From what I have heard and the albums I have listened to (mainly older albums cause I like to listen to full albums and whenever I listen to any bands discography. I always start with whatever the band put out first. Not what a label deems as their first work)
