@@LarsPW I understand their plight, you still need to prepare, ID theft is a huge issue, we’re trying to protect you, if you know your not home wait until you are, you should know your pass codes and ID questions

Worked in jewelry we offered class ring orders. thing is if it was a class ring they don't get a refund at my store they have to take it to the jeweler that made it. you can put an order in through our store but you pay them! It's a special account the store has that let's them collect the money through our till that we have to log into each time we sell a class ring. it takes forever and you have to restart the till after. which can take another 30 mins. that is because if there is something wrong with the ring they offer the option to fix it for free but you have to go to their jeweler to have it fixed as it's custom made to order. you can make the order and pick it up here you can size it here as well! we have samples of how they fit for each styled currently offered. but you can't refund it here. they have to. We literally cannot accept it back as it will come up not in our system as it isn't in our system. and the system we use for them is not built for refunds it can only make orders! it can't even modify them! which is why they get a copy of their order form in case they change their mind they can go to their online site and initiate it that way. but explain that to a elderly lady who doesn't even have a computer at home that bought the ring for their grandchild. like at that point you're only stressing yourself out expecting the customer who has 10000 other things to worry about to be prepared for anything that while you are at work only have to deal with maybe 1/4 of that. i just assume everyone is just having an idiot moment and suddenly i have a lot better time of it. Maybe that's just cause i have to deal with the government when I'm on the customer side when i need help with anything. but you only need one item of info for them plus any security info you made when you created your account specifically for calling into the government. i know what those things are! but sometimes I say the security phrase slightly differently cause the meaning is interchangeable but has to be verbatim.

@@unicrongobsmacker8595 I do prepare firstly by documenting any codes potentially important for the business relationship in an encrypted file and secondly by having this file ready when and while communicating with them. That works always fine when I am at home. When I am on tour I have not always my PC with me so I have not any code. I am sure that I am not alone with this issue.

Oh my god I worked at a college bookstore and people were ready to hand out their social security number constantly instead of the student number they were assigned by the college. It was insane.

.....I wish to call bull but ......this actually happened at my work. We were trying to find a customer order which only requires first and last name or invoice number. The guy just for no reason gave us his social and the guy behind him wrote it down.

We need a video about the reverse; customer service reps being rude right from jump, ready to transfer you in a heartbeat, customer having ALL the info ready and the rep. STILL can't assist them.

@@buttarain27 as someone who worked many years on the phones, that's because you have been tricked... Companies fooled you into thinking you can call to get any help... Customer service 8 out of 10 times cannot help you. And when we try to explain that we can't help in the crappy corporate way the company makes us just to keep our job, people tend to start yelling at us. The difference is that the customer is dealing with maybe 1 or 2 agents... Agents are dealing with customers for 8+ hours straight. And these customers 70% of them are calling because they want to yell at someone.

It will always be hilarious to me when I get the question, “CaN yOu LoOk Me Up By My SoCiAl?” Like fraud and things don’t exist and clearly everyone just has access to your social. That in combination with waiting for so long but having nothing prepared. Its frustrating but ultimately you just have to laugh. You go crazy in customer service if you don’t laugh. Thats not even a joke, I have legitimately watched people lose it because they couldn’t laugh at it.

Not once have the messages while I've been on hold said something useful like having a recent bill with account number handy or any other information they might need. No, instead it's constant reminders that we can do stuff online even though half the time I'm calling because what i need to do can't be done online. Also it's advertisements for the business I'm calling while I'm on hold. If this is such a prevalent issue, maybe it should be mentioned in the recording and menu before actually getting to a real person.

​@@wlonsdale1its not about the fact that yes there are some people dumb enough where thsi advice would be necessary, its about the fact that the hold lines are full of only useless and irritating nonsense. Remember, for every time an IT person asks you "have you turned it off and on again?", and for every time you let out an exasperated sigh because that's troubleshooting 101, there is a person who's issue was SOLVED by a power cycle. If customer service had useful tips to self diagnose and handle problems instead of advertisements and telling you to use the site that you cant use for your issue, then the customer would get help faster and employees wouldnt have to deal with as much stupid BS. If employees deal with less stupidity, their mood is better, which means that when you actually need assistance, you get someone more willing to actually help you instead of someone who acts like it while waiting to go home.

We do it because you guys are literally that incapable of even basic troubleshooting or checking wires. Not to mention how many of you don't know that the "computer app" comes from the pc case, not the monitor.

@@shirothefish9688 no. Having worked a job that tried really hard to inform people of things they would need to know in the robot menu, most just didn't want to listen to any of it. They are calling being really stupid and demanding we look their account up with their SSN despite being told we don't have that information and therefore can not verify with it. People are just stupid on average.

Please Note. When the social "security" act was written up it stated quite plainly that the number WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE USED FOR I.D. Purposes or shared with anyone except the federal agency assigned. Of course that was back when we actually had to write a Personal Check or pay cash to the Federal Government. Don't Get Me Started. The system is now only taking in enough to cover its payouts . . . we think . . . because the entire UN-Constitutional program and its Lock Box was put into the General Fund decades ago to fund social programs . . . my eye . . .

@@douglascampbell2851 when you work jobs like this, some days you don't want a new call. Some days, you're in such a mood, you're willing to waste an idiot's free time... Because you know that you won't have to actually do anything, the person on the phone is so stupid, you could just put them on hold for no reason and come back like nothing happened and they would just be mad and try to keep the conversation going. People who call customer service most times are completely morons. Especially if they call more than once.

We do that because off of name and address, you can get that from a google search on the right places. Then I place an order with your stuff and you're on the hook for whatever amount. I work for a health insurance company and people try this ALL. THE. TIME.
