Malgus wouldn't be able to defeat either Jerec or Katarn. Not least of which being that Malgus is from a bygone era that would have been part of the study in the millennia since his time, his opponents would have abilities and techniques developed long after Malgus had died, so he would not have foreknowledge of them, or in some cases even the ability to defend himself from them. He might have been something in his own time, but would be sorely outclassed by many of the named Force users of the later eras.

Didn't malgus use his telepathic abilities in "the false emperor"? He instilled doubt in either the hero of tython, the Barsen'thor, the leader of havoc squad or the smuggler (who shrugged of mind tricks in the game) and then faced that person alone while he used the force to incapacitate the other 3. Also magus does use his environmental surroundings to his advantage in the newest expansion (and not just gameplay mechanics, cutscene as well). The whole "tunnel vision" thing is only taken from his battles as a young man. Didn't like 30 years pass since he fought satele? It seems like he learned "the hard way". Also he didn't lose to the hero of tython, canonically he lost to the strike team which consisted the hero, the Barsen'thor of the jedi order, the leader of havoc squad (the team that does all the most dangerous missions) and probably the greatest smuggler of the time. This was the original canon. Even in the expansion when he faces the outlander (who is canonically the hero or the inquisitor) he is still fighting against a group including 2 jedi battlemasters.

I find that Kyle approach to combat to be a mix of a Jedi Sentinel , the pragmatism of the Jedi guardian and the the tactical skill of a republic commando. Where as Malgus is the archetype of the old republic sith guardian battle tank who uses his skill and powers in a much more utilitarian and broadened combative approach .

Council.Yoda and Mace are comparable to Sidious separately and can beat him in lightsaber combat and Yoda can very nearly equal him in the force.Anakin can nearly match Dooku and quickly overpower him with a rage boost,Obiwan is comparable to and can defeat Maul,Savage will be taken care off by Kit Fisto or Plo Koon,if they are not enough separately they can team up briefly and kill him immediately. The Sith can MAYBE win if Sidious kills everyone that's not Mace tier immediately like he did in ROTS,trust me he can kill Anakin in seconds.Then Sidious can fight Mace,while they are struggling Dooku could give a little force push to Mace's feet ending in Sidious killing him just like he had time to throw that pillar on Anakin&Obiwan in EP2.despite fighting a holding back Yoda on his own Then they all gang up on Yoda killing him immediately or Yoda quickly kills Savage,Maul and Dooku and we get the duel we did in EP3,but disheartened Yoda loses a bit earlier. Overall I find it very very difficult and unlikely for the Sith to win.

I see the most relevant jedi (and all you'd really need) to be Mace, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Plo, Shaak and Kit. Mace and Yoda can interchangeably deal with Palpetine/Dooku. Anakin and Kit would likely beat Maul and Savage and Grievous can be beaten by Obi-Wan. Plo Koon and Shaak Ti can comfortably hang in there and keep almost everyone (excluding Palps) busy for a time and beat Maul and Savage.

@@utoresa5193 you're assuming the jedi council wouldn't work together to reliably take out the sith. Obi wan would work with anakin and inform him of maul's and savage's strategy, and considering how savage held up against kenobi and skywalker last time, it isn't looking great for the both of them if both of them are up against maul and savage and aware of how they fight. Grievous also would be handled by most of the council working simultaneously to cut him down and dooku would be handled by the council as well. Mace and yoda would work together against sidious and sidious's own rage would just only boost mace's vaapad. The sith have no synergy and lacking teamwork, held back by that fatal flaw. Dooku would only work well with his former master and grievous. Savage would only work well with maul. Palpatine despises maul and savage and would only reluctantly be working with dooku and perhaps grievous. The jedi can take advantage of this, and they would take advantage of the lack of teamwork with the sith. Yoda and mace would lead the charge and would decide who would fight who. Both would decide to fight sidious, and perhaps order obi wan and anakin to deal with maul and savage, the rest of the jedi council would fight grievous and dooku.

Jedi love teamwork, sith despise it. This is intrinsic of their phylosophy, therefore, part of the battle. The Jedi win hands down. besides the Maul/Savage pair, everyone else is for themselves, so the jedi can pick them up in groups. If Windu puts Sidious in a lock, and Yoda scolds Dooku, the rest simply fall apart by sheer force of the jedi sinergy.

It's very interesting that two very powerful Force adepts have such a similar view of the Force, and yet they're strikingly different: Vergere and Katarn both view the Force as neither inherently good nor bad; rather it reflects the wielder's personality, morals and ethics. And yet, one is a Jedi Battle Master whose overall martial prowess and mastery of the force is perhaps eclipsed only by a few not named Luke Skywalker, while the other is a Sith Trickster who rarely saw combat, preferring instead to teach, torture, confuse and manipulate... And was instrumental in the creation of the most powerful Sith Lord since Emperor Palpatine.

These are a ton of matchups.skipping a bunch. Desaan. Doesn't really have a obvious weakness Galen can exploit and Desaan hammers him to death. Tholme run away that goes stealth mode and assinates Poofs size works against him but this matchup comes down to force abilities. Yaddle does have the moricho ability, but Super Poof stopped the Infant of Shaa which indicates to me > force power, illusions, and could just light Yaddle on fire. Bultar on the back of her skill in hand to hand combat. They are quite close in nearly every other area to me. I remember when I wanted Naga vs Brakiss. Probably ends in MUA by Supernova. Kuro is always hard to call due to her hax. Depends on the environment. In a head to head duel, Jerec because his force powers are better suited for direct combat than Kuro. Lumiya whips Traya to death. I don't think Traya force abilities make up Lumiyas skill with her whip and physical advantage. But if Traya has prep she stomps. Assume Krayt is post resurrection. If so, I think he wins but this is close. I think Krayt is a better swordsman and while Caedus has way more talent, Krayts years of grinding makes up the difference. Valk. Basically the 2nd most powerful Sith and is the greatest Sith Sorcerer in SW. Id argue he could be ROTS in a pure force duel.

Addressing your first suggestion: Physicality: Kenobi (younger and has better stamina, allowing him to potential outlast the Battlemaster) Force Abilities: Katarn( additional fighting option with Force lightning and slightly greater telekinetic power to overwhelm Kenobi’s weak passive Force barrier, potentially undermine Kenobi’s concentration with mind shard if necessary) Martial Arts: very close (both Jedi have diverse fighting styles, but I believe Kenobi would win. Katarn’s focus on direct offense would play into Kenobi’s hands thanks to his mastery of Soresu and Kenobi is better at taking advantage of his environment) Overall: while Katarn would present a challenge for Obi-Wan, the Negotiator would win

Jason won by out maneuvering Kyle he distracted him with a hand jester so that Kyle would think of a direct attack. Instead Jason simply targeted the speeder behind Kyle and caught him off guard. Jason did the same thing to Luke on the Anakinsolo when he raised his hand Luke expecting a Force-Lightening strike domed his hand with the force and raised to answer with Force-Absorb only to be blindsided with a table.

Overall, a very good video. I would like to adress one thing though. Caedus being weakened during his fight with Kyle and co. is actually questionable: 1. Keep in mind that the injuries he sustained during his fight with Luke became an issue only after he sustained *additional* injury from a blaster bolt deflected by one of the Jedi. At this point, Kyle was already out of comission. 2. Caedus was renowned for his ability to feed on physical pain, using it to amp himself. Basicaly any non-crippling injury would actually benefit him, rather than hinder him. So, either the injuries he sustained in his fight with Luke were not significant enough to influence the outcome of a fight, or Caedus was actually somewhat *amped* (making Kyle's performance even more impressive). But that's a minor issue. Is there a chance for Saba Sebatyne vs Darth Maul? Two beasts duking it out.

Dooku would win hands down. His mastery of Makashi is perfectly suited to take on Desann since the latter’s Strong style lacks defense. With Force abilities, Dooku’s use of telekinesis and Force lightning is more precise and controlled.

So I know this is a bit "out there," and I don't ever expect it to happen because I know you all are busy, but I would kill for an episode of Count Dooku vs Cao Cen Darach, "The Fallen Masters." It is such a good dynamic for a number of reasons. Dooku has repeatedly stated his utter contempt for form hybridization, and is himself an "old-school" jedi more akin to Darach's era who specializes in a blade-to-blade fencing form despite living in a blaster-dominated era. He has even stated that one practicing a single form could likely "best a battlemaster" which is a nice unintended nod to Darach, and it would be cool to put the good Count of Serenno to the test against this very caliber of opponent and see if his philosophy rings true, making him put his credits where his mouth is. On the opposite amputated hand, Master Cao is a Jedi Battlemaster employing a skillset that honestly aligns more with the Jedi of Dooku's day, ironically. He is a Niman practitioner much like a stereotypical Late Republic Jedi Knight, yet is one who prizes and embodies versatility and fluid integration of his various skills into a smooth, refined fighting technique, allowing him to address varying situations effectively instead of being a diplomat/warrior hybrid scraping by with minimal combat skills. I also love how he has progressed his Jar'Kai to the point that engaging in a 2v1 while simultaneously wielding a saberstaff and his own weapon was a non-issue, yet he hasn't allowed this skill to detract from his one-bladed technique. Since Dooku's two main apprentices, Assajj Ventress and General Grievous, are both dedicated Jar'Kai specialists, and Dooku himself is a hardcore bone-to-bone practitioner of one-bladed fencing techniques, this is an interesting dynamic. All in all, I think it's a neat match idea. Frankly I can see Dooku blowing right through Darach on a certain level since he clearly outclasses him in Force power and lightsaber skill, tussling evenly with and even outclassing Council Masters and stalemating Yoda, but the disparity is not as overwhelming as it might seem. Cao has lightsaber effective armor in his corner giving him a margin of error most of Dooku's contemporary foes lack, and his physicality is clearly superior to the Count's... Though of course Dooku is accustomed to schooling younger and stronger foes, and has proven repeatedly he can do so during the Clone Wars. However Master Cao is also less likely to be caught offguard by Dooku's extremely advanced application of Makashi compared to the foes Dooku faced in the Clone Wars, as he is a Battlemaster skilled in all seven forms and has extensive experience battling other Force-Sensitives in combat, be it sparring or live combat. He hasn't spent all his time in diplomacy or forcibly dismantling blaster-hefting battle droids, he is a combat specialist with a heavy emphasis on dueling, the sort of person I could picture Dooku respecting, just as Master Cao would likely admire and look up to Master Dooku prior to his fall. At any rate, much of Dooku's strength came from other Jedi from his era being unprepared ro face such a "blast-from-the-past" sort of opponent. For all intents and purposes, Dooku is Wesley Snipes in "Demolition Man." He is like an Abrams tank dropped into a medieval battlefield. But Cao is "John Spartan," from the same film, a guy who does have experience dealing with this type of foe and thus robs Tyrannus of his biggest X factor, so I think he has a shot at winning, if only a small one. To top it off, both Dooku and Darach were known cage-rattlers and mavericks, opposed to what they saw as the great evils of their eras prior to their demise, but they both took opposite roads to solve the issue. Dooku used force and his personal power to try and bring down the Republic and rebuild, wheras Darach took a strong, staunch position opposing the Dark Side, doubling down on his Jedi training/indoctrination rather than rejecting it as Dooku did. The more I think on it, the better the dynamic gets in my mind. It is also cool how they both died right before a major galactic shift, hence my title suggestion, "The Fallen Masters." Only Dooku fell in a literal sense, but just as he died on the heels of Palpatine's Empire being born, so did Darach die on the heels of the Sith's return to fight the Republic once again. End of the day, I love your channel and the Star Wars content you produce, as someone who has loved fencing for many years I find your breakdowns and analysis of many of my favorite characters both riveting and educational. Sorry for the letter, but I really love the Versus series and wanted to pitch in with an idea I've had in my head for a long time. Darth Wredd vs Cal Kestis and Kanan Jarrus vs Dass Jennir are interesting matchups to me. For the first, Wredd gets the physical edge; greater strength and resiliency coupled with his stolen Imperial Knight armor. Wredd’s disciplines are presumably basic knowledge of Niman and Teras Kasi while Kestis’ technique is Shii-Cho and Jar’Kai with basic knowledge of Niman. Cal would probably win due to his versatility of his interlocking lightsabers and improvisation of his unique style. Force Powers: Cal’s Psychometric abilities won’t come into play, though I could see Wredd getting the drop on Cal with Force concealment. With Telekinesis, both fighters can use Force pushes, pulls and throws, but Cal can also use Force waves and repulses along with saber throws. Also, Cal can not only penetrate telekinetic defenses of opponents and parry similar attacks in kind while Wredd hasn’t demonstrated his own ability to do so. So overall, while Wredd’s abilities are powerful, Cal’s are more inventive In the end, Wredd will definitely prove to be a difficult opponent for Cal, but Kestis would most certainly win. For the second matchup, Kanan and Dass would be equals in terms of physical abilities due to their comparable levels of strength and speed. Martial Arts: Kanan’s style is Soresu with knowledge of Shii-Cho and improvised application of Ataru while Jennir is implied to be a practitioner of Shii-Cho with elements of Makashi and Shien. I believe Jarrus would win by using his competent Form III defense to wait for Jennir to overextend himself before countering. Force Powers: Jarrus and Jennir are more or less comparable in terms of raw power. Both can use beast control and mind tricks, but Jennir can use Force healing to aid in his survival. Both can use Force pushes to attack their enemies. While Kanan did breach the Grand Inquisitor’s Force wall, the Pau’an’s attention was on Ezra and neither Jarrus nor Jennir seem to be capable at incorporating telekinesis into their lightsaber techniques. Overall, Kanan would win purely on the back of his lightsaber skills

@@darylsdesigns6679 Wredd is very similar to Malicos, only more relentless and using one blade, so he would give Cal hell, but ultimately Cal is smarter and has more fallbacks. Agreed on assessing Kanan's style being Soresu mixed with Ataru, not so much on Shii-Cho, Ezra seems to use Form I more, while Kanan's supplementary style could be Shien. Also, switch Makashi with Soresu for Jennir. Kanan has more impressive feats in telekinesis : lifting stone ceiling and bridges, moving asteroids with Ezra, combining their Force Push against Vader (though he was distracted), redirecting a rocket. So yeah, Kanan would win.

@@jimpat2489 Disagree strongly. Corran is powerful and gives Obi an excellent fight in sabers but can't breach Kenobi's defense. His weakness to TK hamstrings him big time in this fight as well, as Obi is known to use TK combatively and is very versatile with it. He also has no energy-based powers that Corran can feed off of with his tutaminis, save for maybe catching Kenobi's lightsaber.

@@wristofkings well Corran is by far the superior lightsaber duelist and would likely kill Kenobi before it ever came to using the force. He operates similarly to Dooku a fighter that has humiliated Kenobi time and time again. Even if the battle dragged on Corran would start using his telepathic powers and easily beat Kenobi who hasn't exhibited any viable defence against such tactics. Also Kenobi rarely used tk in an offensive manner and even if he did it's unlikely that he would kill Corran since that isn't his usual strategy. Force pushes are also useless against Corran since he could just absorb the energy and use it to ragdoll Kenobi

Damn really seems like any fight between the masters of the New Jedi Order is a done deal from the start The writers have given them so much material that their feats dwarf almost all other sith from any era and the end results are their near deification in battle. They just can't loose as lets be real even in the books Kyle should've died to caedus as anyone would've but the writers just didn't want to kill off such an iconic charcater in a throw away battle like that. It just makes these versus much less interesting knowing they are gonna win 90% of their matches from the start. Adi Gallia Vs Quinlan Vos: these two are actually a very good match in my opinion. Gallia has managed to stalemate Grevious in their first duel and while she lost her second she survived. She was killed by Savage Opress but still acquitted herself well. Quinlan defeated sora Bulq and Volfee Karkko both with the Force spiritual aid of others. He beat K’kruhk, Ayala Secura, Tholme , Scurge, and random zabrak dark Jedi. He lost to Mace Windu/Count Dooku/ Agen Kolar. Gallia has faced only high caliber duelists where Vos has faced varies fighter types and levels. Gallia admittedly fared better against these high tier foes than Vos but Vos survived and learned. Gallia is slightly better than Vos but Vos survived meaner fighters than her and I think it’s a fun match up.

Welp, Im late to the party. But holy crap, Malgus vs Kyle Katarn for the last of the mini marathon. Nice. Got something to chew on while I wait for Kyle Katarn vs Darth Vader. Going into this, honestly have no idea. 12:30 Doesn't look intimidating? Kyle is the Chuck Norris of SW. That beard inspires fear into the hearts of all. 14:14 Interesting dynamic but I think Malgus is a bit faster than you would think. For a juggernaut, he's surprsingly nimble. 20:15 Honestly I love Katarns outlook on the force. The force is not inherently good or evil or light and dark. Its neutral. And this lead him to develop skill with light and dark side abilities. 25:40 Ehh Id argue Malgus is a notch stronger than Katarn. 28:42 Again kind of disagree. The value of Malgus power advantage beats Kyle's mind shard ability. But this matchups really hinges on martial arts. 43:10 Worth noting Malgus was still an apprentice and well before his prime and while Kyle and Kao are both battle masters, they are are extremely different. Also, Dessan is good, but as far as skill he's not in Malgus level. Dessan is more diet Malgus. 44:50 Hmm so Kyle beats Malgus on the base of versatility and experience? Not to sure about the experience part, but I can get behind the versatility aspect. Time to pitch some matchups: Kar Vastor vs Lord Nyax: I really think this is a good one. 2 juggernauts one a machine and the other consumed by nature. Kyle Katarn vs Kenobi: Battle of the Beards. Winner goes up against Jorus C'Baoths beard! Shirtless Kylo Ren vs Darth Caedus Rey Palpatine vs Jaina Solo Fel Grand Admiral Thrawn vs Darth Bane: Bane get no force abilities. Not a fight but a question of winner in chess. Best of 11 games.
