The channel is growing and I couldn't do it without you guys! This is by far my longest video to date and I am incredibly pleased with the final product. Bare in mind, Exar's stolen 'relics and amulets' provided the vast majority of his power in the Force. Take that away, boil it down to blade on blade combat, and Master Windu wins 'everytime'.

you are aware that exar kun was able to fight grand master luke skywalker? luke won with help from his order and the willpower of the student who was possessed but the battle was in no way easy.

It had only been 6 or 7 years after the empire's fall that Luke and his students encountered Exar's spirit on the jungle moon. And as said, Exar was greatly enhanced by the relics and amulets of Freedon Nadd and Naga Sadow. So of course it was difficult. Take the 'true' Grandmaster Luke who overcame Darth Caedus and pit 'him' against Exar. Way different chain of events. From my point of view.

@@QoQabai658 exar kun was in his spirit form at that time and its been awhile so i dont remember if he had the enhancement items during his fight with luke pretty sure he didnt or he would not of lost to a apprentice jedi in a battle of wills. they both would of had access to the power but kun would know better how to use the items and easily over power a apprentice. his physical skills were not enhanced it was his force powers that were enhanced. kuns physical power was boosted when he was lured into a trap by freedon nad and healed using darkside healing that nad had unlike other sith because he was trained as a jedi before becoming a sith and kun even admitted he was going to die in nads trap and nads power made him stronger then before. dont forget kun was just a jedi turned sith dubbed a true sith by marka ragnos the amulets were force enhancers allowing the user to channel the force better not augment their physical power. that was done by the user using the force themselves which most jedi and sith do basically all the time enhanced reflexs hightened speed and force jump. now the end application is higher force power to channel into combat or force techniques. ulics physical power was not enhanced by the amulet but it made his connection to the darkside stronger which we all know the dark side is stronger in combat situations then the lightside.

@Emperor Vowrawn well he destroyed his body in the ritual itself. the wall of light entrapped him as the ritual he did was going to kill all it touched which was created by a incredible number of jedi the comics atleast show hundreds to thousands of small ships surrounding yavin on all sides and all are maned by jedi because the non force sensitives were unable to get near due to sith magics kun had been using so the jedi could not risk it.

@Emperor Vowrawn well remember it was kuns master that rallied lukes apprentices to banish kun and help luke get back. so it took a ancient jedi to help the new order which is in my opinion vastly underwhelming in knowledge of arcane things and rituals from the past this is a huge weakness when fighting entities like talzin abeloth or spirits like kun and others that have possessed many in star wars.

Interesting matchup. I’m not sure I entirely agree with your verdict but I can’t say I’m completely sure it would be the other way around. From what I can tell, Mace’s 2 biggest advantages are Vaapad & shatterpoint. Now Kun’s single saber style, being highly aggressive & rage fueled was prime for vaapad but Kun’s saberstaff style was similarly ruthless but not nearly as rage fueled. I think the more elaborate nature of the weapon required awareness I find hard to believe you could achieve in full rage mode. That being said, I don’t think the fight would end as a duel. Kun’s focus on niman meant when he couldn’t achieve results with one style he’ll switch it up so I imagine he will continue to look for weaknesses with his force abilities & here, with his amulet & lightning & his telekinesis could be overwhelming for Mace to handle alone. Shatterpoint is his only advantage & even then we do not know if that would be enough. This is just my thoughts, good video nonetheless!

Lexan Projects this is where I have to ask, when exactly does kun incorporate the force during battle or in an offensive manner while fighting someone in lightsaber combat??? That’s the part that always bugged me when looking back in the tales of the Jedi comics with kuns fights, unless he’s fighting someone who’s more prone to force abilities than lightsaber combat or he’s fighting someone he’s already defeated, except for his master baas, he has never really used the force against someone in a combative manner and more than likely if someone starts it off as a lightsaber duel, then it’s going to end in a lightsaber duel. The only exception being if someone did use force abilities against him during combat, but kun hasn’t been in that situation. As for the saberstaff bit, his final battle with baas kind of speaks otherwise, as it looks like he did the same thing when utilizing jarkaii and hammering into baas through physical might if things aren’t going his way and having a good of rage behind his strikes, something I do think windu could exploit just as good against single saber kun if not better. Then again this is probably just me still hating on the stupidly overblown saberstaff. Lol.

There is a lot we do not know about the nature of Kuns various responses, though I will say from the nature of Niman & by the time he is at the height of his power, the amulet seems like the go-to response for unfamiliar opponents. Also, in the Essential Guide to the Force, Kun is described as wielding the weapon like a quarterstaff & even during his fight with Vodo Bass it was said that he was adjusting the blade properties & settings in the midst of their fight. At the end of the panel it appears clear that to destroy the staff he used some kind of overhand power strike but in essence, it appears that his single saber style is much more aggressive, but I personally think the amulet would be his go-to response. Even if it only produced low-level bursts, we don't really know if Mace even has a defense against this. A high energy burst is a Trump card against a lot of force wielders in the right hands, though I won't deny that Kun is a prodigy that took shortcuts & at the end of the day, may not really have understood the depths of what he was messing with but he did use his tools rather effectively

8:43, I don't know where this idea that Kun's durability is inconsistent originated, but I THINK it might have been Jensaarai. Anyway, it's simply not the case. 8:51, I had a discussion with one of the writers on the topic of that section in the comic, Tom Veitch, and he clarified Odan-Urr used Force sever against Exar Kun. Considering that technique is considered one of the most powerful Force techniques in a Jedi's arsenal, I'd hardly call that a "minor blow"... and Kun shrugged it off and immediately responded by one-shotting Odan-Urr with a simple Force choke (also confirmed by Tom Veitch... I too thought it was Force wound, as that makes more sense, but whatever XD). 8:56-9:12, the same could be said of essentially every (human or near-human) Force-wielder. XD Yeah, Kun's far more durable than most make him out to be, but ultimately I too would give Mace the edge there (in turn also giving him the overall edge in physicality). 28:53, I actually agree his lightning could very well have been approximately at Bane's level. From the picture we have of him using some very miniaturized version of the technique, it was in the Jedi library (on Coruscant by the looks of it), and no one would have taught him that, so he just gleaned whatever info he could from holocrons and reading material, and essentially taught himself Force lightning, which to me at least is pretty damn impressive, especially considering how pre-prime he was at that point. I mean, considering the breadth of Dark Side knowledge he eventually accumulated later, I have no doubt he would have vastly improved his Force lightning by his prime around the end of the Great Sith War. That said, I strongly believe, given everything we know on Kun, that Sith sorcery is where he truly shined, and that that was his bread and butter. 30:25, yep. XD 31:05, wait what? Have you not read The Jedi Academy Trilogy (plus I, Jedi)? Kun had some of the MOST combat applicable Sith sorcery around, employing it somewhat through Kyp Durron to devastating effect against Luke. 31:31, not... exactly? It was the Jedi's massive, collective Wall of Light technique that trapped Kun's spirit in the temple. Had his ritual gone off without a hitch, his spirit would've been completely free and unencumbered, and not bound by the limitations of conventional Sith spirits. I imagine it would have been similar to how Vitiate/Valkorion was. Regarding both your and ForklifterMatt's stance on Mace's shatterpoint's combative viability, I have to correct ForklifterMatt: Mace DID use shatterpoint against Sidious, at least according to the novelization. That said, my stance is that shatterpoint is one of those abilities that, unless it reaches into the area of dark transfer like with Cade, Krayt, and arguably even Caedus, is honestly a very negligible advantage. Verdict: while I definitely agree Mace has the advantage in a physical confrontation, I see the disparity there as lesser than their disparity in a Force confrontation. However, Mace's Vaapad was able to place him on equal ground to freaking Sidious. I think this fight's outcome would be almost entirely dependent on how it played out. If Mace could maintain the fight as almost entirely a lightsaber duel, I'd favor him winning. Otherwise, if Kun gets the chance to unleash and connect a blast from his gauntlet, or utilize his Sith sorcery, Mace is done for.

well i have to point out one epic flaw in your logic. maces jedi and jedi order could barely beat a army of b1 battle droids and geonosians before the mk2 battle droids came the jedi had lost majority of their strike force which was the largest in maces time. while kuns era of jedi and sith where accustomed to war and intergalactic strife compared to maces era where the jedi were mainly diplomats with a license to kill. completely different breed of jedi from maces era. were talking jedi that could cut you off from the force forever. jedi that could block lightsabers with sticks. by comparison maces jedi order falls incredibly short to their counterparts. so i cant see how a diplomat jedi is gonna battle a warring states era jedi and come out physically on top. the training was better in the past and they were trained for war and possible combat with darkside entities such as terententek which in maces time only master yoda and count dooku together could kill 1. while the jedi of kuns era and past went on a galaxy wide purge to exterminate the beast. so individuals and groups of jedi had to go do this regularly at periods and they did nearly wipe them out but they would go into long hibernations and out last the purges. but the individual groups of jedi were on par with master yoda and count dooku teaming up those are the 2 strongest and skilled jedi of their era count dooku would of merked mace windu in a duel even yoda thought so till the later end of the war when mace leveled up but he even said it would still be a close duel and mace would not get away unscathed if he did. i give kun the fight because he was able to do real damage to luke who is supposed to be much more trained and powerful then mace was.

@@darthrevan7923 , I totally feel ya, and it’s more or less confirmed by at least one source that, on average, the Jedi of The Old Republic were more combatively sound than the Jedi around the time of The Clone Wars era. However, this only applies in general, not on an individual basis. Both Mace, and especially Yoda for example have numerous accolades placing them above the Jedi who came before them. Even though my stance was 2 years ago apparently, I still stand by I think just about everything I said.

Mace had more than 2 purple lightsabers.. He had a blue lightsaber he used for years. He even had it in Ep1, in the actual film, you can even see it. We saw Mace with a blue saber before we ever saw him with his gold-hilted purple one. And no, that was not from his “concordance of fealty” with Eeth Koth; Koth’s lightsaber has always been green. Like we even see him with it activated in that same comic series and it’s clearly green. Mace just had a blue lightsaber before his purple one. Or after it rather, whatever, and then switched back to his purple one just before the clone wars.

You’re argument does make sense though, as Kun’s reluctance to use his force abilities against other powerful force users will not do him any favours. He could likely overwhelm Windu with the force if he knuckles down, but he is just too damn prideful, and wants to finish his opponent in single combat. Against such a badass swordsman as Mace, that’s a poor tactic.

I kind of notice that despite his tactical capabilities in grand scale planning, kuns tactics in a one on one fight are not really that great. He's not an idiot, but it feels like he does fall back alot on his changing his forms up to exploit a weakness or make an opening himself with his aggressive style of niman alot and with this method of his being seemingly invincible, he doesn't seem like he has another plan other than going through with rage and might such as in his first match with baas, include his arrogance and temper into the mix and hes definitely more of a glass cannon than others think.

I Honestly doubt it, kun is a smart fighter but more so with his use of shifting between forms rather than looking at the fight over all. This would make sense considering not just how his fighting method seemed invincible, which it really wasnt and find some of it to be really overblown, but also kuns massive arrogance and his temper that's been seen in the tales of the Jedi comics. So yeah, I doubt kun could actually pick up on that.

Only thing I dont agree with is that Exar Kun completely outclasses Mace Windu in terms of Force power/abilities, I agree that Kun could possibly be superior but the gap between them is negligible IMO

@Emperor Vowrawn That's because hes had 4000 years to just sit around and gather force power and meditate on the force, he would obviously outclassed pretty much anyone by that point but if Windu and Kun met before Kun was trapped on Yavin 4 then Windu would win, I dont have an issue with saying that Kun could be slightly more powerful than Windu but it really is only a small edge when you look at what both have done

@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 he didn't master all 6 (the seventh wasn't around yet) as ataru would have been handy to have in his duel with Ulec Keldroma but we never saw that materialise he could do was trade power blows with quarter back and get a draw I think if kun had spent more time at school and less time he would have been an equal or even better than vitiate and palpatine but as things stand he is what you get when you learn too many techniques but spend little time with them you are slow and clumsy where kenobi and can leverage concurrently the force and the light kun was abysmal at this and kennobi's active force wall is insurmountable it is his passive that is problematic but kun is incapable of taking advantage of it due to his poor flow with regards to applying the force in combat
