in all honestly I think it's mistake of them if they completely eleminate all EU. For example it would be easy to keep things in existance even if not in the same form if somebody so choose to do something in that timeline. But honestly it should still exist out of respect for the original star wars fans. Especially timelines that the movies don't touch upon, those stories only helps to enrich the franchise, like the story of Revan for example.

I thought Disney was just removing everything post Return of the Jedi from the canon? I mean I'm certain everything to do with the time of the films and Cartoons is supposed to be Canon right? person policy on cannon stories that are pre return of the Jedi are still valid as second tier cannon until something new officially replaces it. this new EU Policy may inadvertently lock in some older material. after all Darth Bane was referanced in the last season of star wars the clone wars TV show. so his trilogy should still be valid.
