To be honest, I don't like the young David Mitchell. He was too intense and absolute in his views and angry. It's off-putting to watch. Now that he has a wife and a daughter, he's not constantly angry at the world.

@@raqueldobson1 I think David would be going to far into the lording it over you style of logical person - that's one of the biggest reasons people preferred Fry hosting over Sandi, because where Fry obviously delighted in weird knowledge and in other people discovering that knowledge, Sandi being so dry comes across as being delighted in being right. The problem is there just aren't many funny smart people on TV lately who have created a likeable style of persona, since it seems out of style. Lee Mack is just as smart as David Mitchell but plays off as the northerner moron, James Acaster and Richard Ayoade are both brilliant but have that crazy socially awkward schtick. Probably the best fit would actually be Victoria Cohen Mitchell rather than David. The other challenge is you either need to fit as the parent/school teacher/older sibling relationship with Alan Davies (which David doesn't at all), or find a new Alan as well, which would probably be much harder to do well.

There's no question Stephen Fry was an amazing host, but, for me, the main reason the earlier seasons worked so well was because most episodes had one or more of this regular bunch of panelists (Sean Locke, Bill Bailey, Phil Jupitus, Jimmy Carr, Rob Brydon, Jo Brand, David Mitchell, Dara O Briain, and, later on, Ross Noble) who either already had or developed great chemistry with each other, and with Stephen Fry and Alan Davies. The are a couple of people on that list whom I don't really care for on otherwise, but they all contributed to making QI head and shoulders the best panel show at its peak. It's a shame they stopped doing that in later series, as there actually are a few new (for QI) faces I actually really like on QI, like James Acaster (whom I'm a big fan of anyway) and Rhod Gilbert, and I wish they appeared as often as the names I mentioned earlier did back in the day, and there are others whom I think have potential if they were allowed to build the same level of rapport with each other and the host as the regular guests did back in the day. But it looks like they're actually moving away from the idea of regulars as (I think) the last time anyone appeared even twice in a series was in 2021.

33:11 bees don’t drink honey….they drink water!!! Never feed a bee honey, to help it find its way home.

I once saved a bee from a birdbath. It was alive but truly spent. Next morning... found it still in resting in the grass so I gently put it up on the top of a coneflower (for its pollen). This bee sprang to life and noshed all over the coneflower head. Checked an hour later and had flown away. Bees, particularly the knackered ones, need POLLEN.
