You certainly do not show how EMD does rebuild. Weld up drill and retap holes-replace end plates on case, new line bore for case, regrind or chrome plate journals on crankshaft. Ours last as new. But cost a bit more. I am retired engine division employee. Now the RR want throw away engines and just buy new. Bean counter misconception that initial cost that is lower is best.

yeah, maybe if you've been digging in the garden without washing your hands first but if you were digging in the garden while wearing those same gloves you would have the same problem. where did you hear this rumor? your one of those guys that insist cooks wear rubber gloves i bet...

gloves have a huge disadvantage you can't feel if you have shit on your fingers. clean bare hands have more sense receptors than gloved hands.
