Seeing screenshots of Fang in this game is the ultimate punch to the gut. He's such an underutilised, fun, unique Sonic villain, and this game could've cemented him as a mainstay in the series. I still hold out hope for a new 3D Sonic game featuring Fang, even if it's just a bossfight. Because outside of his Mania cameo (which was 4 years ago and just a mirage), he's been largely fogotten in favour of more redundant characters, like Johnny and Shadow post-2005

We have come very far, I remember that in 2011 I made a video about Sonic X-Treme. And the only information available was on Chris Senn's page, now we can actually imagine and play what the game was going to be.

I've been thinking this. The only thing I can come up with is as development started in '94 they literally had nothing to go off of at that point, and the idea that video games moved left to right was still probably ingrained in their heads. The project was hella dysfunctional, and with all this being said, it is pretty odd not one person realized they should've been doing a Crash corridor-type thing.

​@neosquid9609 I think the new worlds demo is promising. Like one of those 3d ball maze games. As a full game it's disorienting. As a mini game or once again, a rework on left to right game play mechanics. Uses of a lock-in camera for certain segments. Ect I think a large part of the issue was development on a PC then over the Saturn.
