Thanks alot for sharing this! Done the bushes on my Passat CC today, whole process was actually much more straightforward than I first thought - especially after being quoted £450 by local VW dealer to have it done. Instead just spent £50 on a pair of new Febi-Bilstein bushes with bolts and got to learn something new as well!

Thanks a lot for this video, I have this job to do in a few days and I will use your method. The only thing different I will do is use silicone grease instead of multipurpose grease as it might be better for the rubber long term ( I'll let you know how I get on.)

OK . I did the job today but one bush was worn so much it pulled straight off. The second the internal metal part of the bush (tube) remained on the arm ,quick twist and of it came .Thanks for the video.

Great video do you need to check the wheel alignment after doing this?

There is very little adjustment, if any on the bolt holes of the aluminium block. So not entirely necessary. However, if the wheel alignment had previously been adjusted with worn bushes it would be prudent to get it checked and adjusted.

My garage has quoted me £300 to do skoda fabia worth about £650 console bushes with steering adjustment. is this worth it because it is pulling to the left a little bit.

Hi there. Can you tell me what vehicle this was done on, and its age please. I've got a mk7 golf, with lots of creaking noises occurring on my car. But only when I go over speed bumps, but especially the black and yellow speed bumps you find in car park entrances. Googling the problem brings up sway bar problems and these console bushes. You make it look easy, so considering doing the job myself. If it's the same part as this on my car, all I will need is the torque settings for the bolts. If I recall correctly that was a Tiguan. However the mk 7 Golf does not have that style of console bush. They have gone back to the type used on mk 3 & 4 Golfs. There is a fairly common issue with them though and they can creak and squeak in the way you mention, replacing does not fix this. There is a lubricating paste that VW supply that needs to be inserted between the rubber sections of the bush. For good coverage it is best to unbolt the arm and pull it out to do so. The rear anti roll bar drop links also cause a few noises if you have the slightest amount of play in them. If the front shock plastic cover / guard is not fitted correctly or has popped out for any reason this can also cause similar noises. Lastly the top shock mounts and bearings can cause issues as well. Without hearing the noise, I would only be guessing but this should give you a good idea of where to start.

Hi, any details on the dealer in York? I had the same issue and have been to two VW dealerships (Oldham and Bury) neither would fix under warranty. Said the console bushes needed re-greasing at my expense! Been onto VWUK who confirm the same. Disgusting service.

@@paragon1973 hi! It was JCT600 VW dealership in York. I think they only did it because I bought it from them though. I've since sold the car. Got a reliable Toyota now 🤞

@@arryt3912 Cheers pal. Out of interest, did they re-grease them and was it a successful fix or did the creaking come back? I won't be buying another VW that's for sure.
