Think of the sacrifices the guys made to have those old rigs. All the things they had to miss with their families, all the worries they had to carry about payments, breakdowns etc. In the end none of it mattered as the old iron sits rusting, the material things just dont matter but, you can never get back time.

Whenever I see a place like this, I can't help but think how sad it is. At one point, these were all new and somebody was really proud to own them. I own a 2014 43' motor home. It bums me out knowing that someday it will probably end up just like these great old trucks.

Maybe you guys could like this enough to get Bruce’s attention. Bruce, why don’t you swap over the sliding fifth wheel from the Air Force truck cut-off onto Blue Collar before you scrap it? That would save you quite a bit of time in the future..

Once you’ve finished afterburner and the freight liner, you should get that Pete at the start. Seeing it has no motor you could put the white internationals Cummins (weren’t you getting that rebuilt?) in it seeing its wiring is stuffed. The Pete’s wiring is only the simple stuff with only electric gauges and headlights not all the full on electrical like the international’s. Then so the white ones not just sitting in the shop, part it out. That would earn you some more money.

Good point @BIGRIG2005 he can start fresh and less of a headache instead of parting it out and spending less money aside from the Cummins engine so it could have a second life when it’s finished he could flip it to get back some of the money already spent on the international cab over call it a fresh start on the international cab over project

@zachswanson5622
@zachswanson5622 4 жыл бұрын
Either way it would hold more tools and it would always be ready when you wanted to to do any will it start or you could do simple service calls when the truck is finished and if possible if it doesn’t have a sleeper then it should have one in the jobs that require more than one day to fix something and I would install a power inverter to charge your camera battery as well as your phone while doing a job away from home if anything you could get a stretched sleeper for another person to help you as well as space for your girlfriend so she is not left at home alone while you are away which would leave less space for a hitch for a trailer if you needed to use it

My first big truck was a '75 GMC Astro with a 290 Cummins hung in it kinda leaning a little, georgia overdrive, and little to no synchros in that ol' 10spd. Drove away for $2,500, later put a good 9spd in it so it could more easily move equipment locally like we needed... A Big Cam 350 or 400 is great to talk about but those older, smaller Cummins ran good for a loooong time back in the day...

Put a diamond plate catwalk in font of the 5th wheel and go to Napa and get some bulkhead fittings and mount your trailer air lines there and hang them off a pogostick. Electrical hookup would be the only challenging part.

Now that was a walk...and I bet you didn’t get everything that was in there. There was probably quite a bit covered up by something or other...like vines, trees! That’s a shame! He’s got some really good old trucks in there...some may not be worth fixing up, but maybe good for parts though. Gonna check the video again...slowly to review things. I like junkyards...went to many with my dad growing up. Good memories!

The work bead at 10:50 is the tractor part of a small semi that Freto's used for delivery. The trailer was 30ft. Could use it for a small fitfth wheel.

Bruce when you move the electrical line and air lines farther back to the reach the trailer,get a galvanised pogo stick that is spring loaded;with a giant spring built into the base.A spring loaded pogo stick,is less likely to be bent or broken in half when you jackknife the truck into tight spaces;vs. having an old fashioned pogo stick that is not spring loaded.
