It's interesting that it plays in Bb and F. I wouldn't have expected such a large interval. Is F the higher key?

The Bb/F change is done with the valve. As stated in the description, the instrument is also capable of playing in A/E which is what he does first. The second excerpt is in Bb/F.

Actually F is the lower key below Bb. Because when I depress the valve it opens up the valve cluster which adds more tubing to the overall length of the horn. By keeping the one valve held down constantly, I am able to play in the key of F. By leaving the valve up I am able to play all the different pitches in the key of Bb. But, I am able to combine both keys and pitches associated with those keys to be able to play this particular piece of music. Thanks so much for watching.
