I noticed that when you use your Riding Mower to clean off the sidewalks, you go forwards and backwards to blow them off. I use the exact same method for blowing off the parking lots when I mow. It's a very smart move! I also noticed that you had to go back and forth at least twice on that Bahia Grass. I had a lawn to mow this afternoon, and I only had a Push-mower to work with, being that the Riding Mower that I brought with me threw the Gearing belt for the second time in 6 days! Anyway-I had to go back and forth on each strip of Grass that I mowed with the Push mower, but that did the trick! I had plenty of times that the Push-mower stalled out, but I'd just start it up again, and kept going until the job was done. You put out some really good videos. Thanx for posting! Mow on, Brother, mow on!!!

bahia grass is from Africa. It was imported in the 1960s to be used along the interstate highways to strop erosion. It is tough and drought resistant. Dont confuse it with a lawn grass. It is tough to cut and tough to control.

Nice! I have noticed it tends to miss them pretty consistently if they are too tall, OR if they are just too thick around the center line of the deck.

how did you do that?
@Billymacmims6 жыл бұрын
I live in east Texas and this is a lot of what we have. The best way I’ve found to cut it is between 2-2.5 inches. It seems like the lower you cut it the easier it cuts and of course some good blades.
Copper Creek Cuts yes it’s like cutting miniature trees but with that said I found that the lower you cut it the easier and better it cuts.

another great video man! you did a great job cleaning that yard up! the bigdog also stripes pretty good as far as I can see 10:30 :) Are they basically the same a Hustler raptors?
@CopperCreekCuts7 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I appreciate it! It would probably stripe better if I watched my lines, but honestly I have never put a big priority on stripes (not very common locally). They are nearly identical(think Chevy/GMC), the only difference is a much nicer seat, LED lights, and different paint job on the Big Dog Alpha, oh yeah and the price! Big Dog is more expensive than Hustler.EDIT: It also came standard with an hour meter, which the Raptor didn't. EDIT AGAIN: Forgot it also came with an engine guard standard.
@wyattslawnservice72127 жыл бұрын
Copper Creek Cuts Well the nicer seat is definitely important considering how much time you probably spend on it. plus the red/black paint scheme look pretty sweet:)
@CopperCreekCuts7 жыл бұрын
I agree! One of the main reasons I bought it was because the dealer was giving it to me for only $200 more than the Raptor 36", and I was going to have to spend $100 on the arm rest kit for the Raptor, so it was really only $100 more bucks. And the red/black goes with my van/trailer better! :)

Noticed a real decent 'tractor' that can hold all sorts of attachments - including mower, vacuum, directional blower, power rake, sweeper and brush cutter, just to name a few. Ventrac makes it - even comes with dual wheel attachments to allow for greater grip and a reduced impact on wet/sensitive surfaces and help tackle slopes.

Would love to get a Ventrac! Waaaaay out of my league at this point, however :(

I didn't think you were! Otherwise I would've done the multi point response talking about how most yards I film take longer than normal since the cutting patterns are dictated by what looks best on camera versus what is most efficient, the fact that it was very overgrown Bahia, first time mowing the property, etc. I appreciate all comments! :)

just remember the non mowing season can be over 6 months in Canada (plowing snow of course fills it in but its not always snowing either...)

Jeff, that surprises me. I thought a few decades of exposure would make the grass more resistant to cold weather and harder to mow. I always thought of Canadian grass as more difficult to maintain if living so far up north.

I'm watching TV some of these videos and I don't understand why they don't weed eat and edge first either. It just looks like double working to me. You spend all that time more in the yard and it looks nice and neat then you come back and weed in the edge and mess it all up and you got blazer grass to the longer than the blades a grass that was cut by the lawn mower so you going to have to double working in order to make the yard look pristine
