Really looking forward to your review. I want to try a river cruise, but agree, most of them are out of my price range. Did you look into TUI river cruises? Emma recently went on a budget river cruise with them. Wondering how they price compare with Viva.

We have done seven Viking cruises and we found them good value for money. Truck and Croisi are more costly

Emmy C We took an AmaWaterways cruise in December 2019. It was a Christmas Markets cruise on the Rhine, and it was fantastic! The views of the castles were beautiful, and drinking the gluewein while shopping in the charming towns was wonderful, even though it was in winter. A Christmas cruise on the Danube with AmaWaterways is on my bucket list. Enjoy your cruise!

If you go a day early the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz is interesting (a skip away with the 9€ ticket). Other than one of the Gutenberg Bibles they have several early print books. Text books and Travel Guides were popular first printed books, the world was thirsty for knowledge and adventure :)

Looks like a nice cruise! I just had an epiphany though: DIY rivercruising! You can hire a boat on a canal or river in , for example, France and toodle along for a week, passing the world, having fun in locks, and in some places tunnels. I have done it a couple of times with my family, once in England, twice in France. It's really rather nice.... Ooh: I did get an advert: Air Iceland...

Please start a face book group or other social media group - for a Committee for Morgan Approved Bathrooms and Bathroom doors (a place to share approved or not approved hotel bathrooms). I am now obsessed when I travel with how how Morgan approved the bathroom and bathroom door are....

The US river cruises are really very different than European and very pricey. We have thoroughly enjoyed our Viking River cruises and will be on another next year. We did look at Uniworld and AMA and those were as pricey as Viking.

Look forward to hearing about this low cost river cruise. I want to do a river cruise but the costs have pushed me away. Everyone constantly tells me to go on Viking. It sounds great but as a solo traveler, they know how to gouge you. Just not reasonable. Actually most river and ocean cruises don’t care about the single traveler. So always looking for a bargain. Omg I live in Minnesota, I’m also a solo vacationer too. Im just wanting one that gives options of excursions cause like for me I could care less bout a glass museum or car museum(yes I’m going to Germany) for my very first river cruise🙂 I want to see quaint little towns mountain hills and villages!

I also do not travel on Viking. Their expensive prices, are because they get the their passengers to pay for all their advertising! They are everywhere! And the average person, sees them on their computers , and TVs constantly, and its like being brain washed! I personally love river cruising, and hsve been on every river in Europe and Asia, and we just got off cruising the Snake and Colombia rivers. ( not a top one for me! But, glad i did do it!) It sounds good. I dont know about rivercruises. Although i would like to go on a longboat trip through the uk once. Ive seen the waterways those things can use and it looks amazing. And scarey. (Saw a 1.6m wide waterway about 70 meters above ground) not a fan of aperol spritz. Gimme a Hugo spritz anytime.

I have cruised Avalon. Absolutely loved. It was much cheaper than Viking. Everything was included and same cruise as Viking. Our ship was beautiful. Love cruising both river and ship. So different but both great. I can't wait to hear about something new
