I think the older brother represents his trauma. His mother dies when he is young, causing a lot of pain that gets bottled up. He is naturally timid/insecure/depressed but his defense mechanisms help him when he is young, helps him get by, sleep at night and whatnot. As he gets older it makes him act out, it gets him into trouble. But it stays with him for better or worse, the lasting pain of early trauma. Anyway thats the way I saw it.

I think the "brother" or alter ego, is more of a part of him, saying that made up part of him is his blood. That explains the name, and most of the song. Good video

If you were referring to the color that Josh and Tyler are wearing in the video, it's more than likely yellow. The color scheme/theme is yellow this album/era and there is a significance to it too.

The song is about his brother but the video tells a story of a kid whose mother dies and father becomes an alcoholic so he turns to his brother, but the brother is more of a coping mechanism he created.
