aaand another blowback caused by gearbox oil sucking, THE weak point of all vespa engines, in.this case due to an additional rare reason regarding the shaft seal
the interesting thing: NO false air symptoms as we are used to when the center, the spring is damaged
setup:
dellorto si24, polini 177 with 114/170 timings, flowed piaggio crank 50/125 degree inlet timing (original = 45) no overlapping, rv 0,1mm, px old/pe engine case with only 1,8mm area small case half
my guess:
engine case was already damaged at the circlip seat before the last engine service 10tkm ago (the visible lap can only occur AFTER the bearing was put in) ((scooter was bought at a shop that is famous for a lot of "compromisses" and "ideas")) + weak gray cast iron at this spot, as it changed during usage. so the bearing moved towards stator side (0,25mm tolerance between bearing and the outher circlip at clutch side, normally this has to be 0mm), this lifted the rotary shaft seal so that oil was sucked in the area of 5-7 o´clock, interestingly no false air effects only oil sucking, shaft seal is still good where it sits on the crank, as a side effect the case bolt nuts got loose, so it additionally sucked oil over the weak spot, in this case a poor case with only 1,8mm (take ur fingers and see how little that is...) measured rv was 0,1mm, but with fht first try closing the halfs it was 0,05mm again as it is the original crank for this case. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
