I was tightening an exhaust manifold bolt with one of these 1/4 inch drive sets on a motor my shop had just rebuilt when a bolt snapped off clean in the cylinder head... I nervously went to my boss to inform him, and he said, if it snapped using this, there was clearly a fault with the bolt itself. It's not your fault. Felt like the little set saved my arse that day😊

I know it's a bit late to tell you this but I have a set of the Facom R360 nano quarter drive set, and it's usp for me was that you can actually rotate the socket handle axially to rotate the bit. Really very useful if you're in a confined space and can't move the handle to and fro like normal. It's a bit spendy but is very high quality. I do have a selection of vessel drivers though and find them to be excellent quality. Take care.

The sockets and ratchet aren't made in the Japan, most likely Taiwan. The "wood compo" handles are made in Japan for both the driver and ratchet. Regardless, it's a top quality set and I've enjoyed mine for about a year now, it's a great kit. Nice job on the review as usual.

I'm more curious as to the longevity of the bits compared to Wiha or Wera. If the bits aren't any good, then it would make it an easy enough to skip set. I prefer a harder bit because I would rather have it fail entirely; than deform as those tend to get stuck in shit.

My only concern is how that wood composite is going to cope with oils, fuels, and solvents in the long term. I’m sure they used waterproof glue to make it (unlike the chipboard that a lot of furniture is made of these days) but solvent proof?

For DIY it’s all about warranties and how easy it is to warranty. If you haven’t already been to hobo freighter. Pittsburgh and Quinn aren’t bad at all. You’ll go as far as you need with them. Upgrade when they break. Professional? I’d do koken.
@georgeburns72512 ай бұрын
@@Pacheko36097. Agree about HF being acceptable. On the whole, doing DIY auto maintenance and repair for 60 years, I’ve never broken a socket. Maybe ruined a few screw drivers using them as pry bars or gasket scrapers. Also had one 3/8 inch ratchet fail in the anvil gear that contacts the pawl.. so warranty is actually more a factor for a pro, hence the tool truck and the high prices. Their tools don’t cost much more to make, but the warranty adds a lot of costs.
