This video reminded me of some of the crazier things I have heard from clients, but I had forgotten this one completely until this video...probably because I was trying to erase it from my memory forever...2yo MI GSD with no history of vet care presented for chronic diarrhea and gradual weight loss. During the history, I asked how long it had been going on, and the client said about a month. The patient wasnt on any dewormer, so I recommended a fecal and asked when the last time he ate was (he was very emaciated). That's when the client told me that he hadn't fed the dog in an ENTIRE MONTH because he read on the internet that you shouldn't feed a dog that has diarrhea!!!! I tried to maintain composure, but I dont think I did a very good job. The dog ended up having a severe whipworm infection and was hospitalized for a few days and sent home on a gradual increase of critical care diet to put the pounds back on. Like, not only were they not feeding him for a month, but they were wondering why he had lost so much weight during that month!!! Thankfully, they were horrified when I told them that the internet advice was bad advice and agreed never to seek vet advice online again!!

My cat does something pretty annoying lol but also he’s the sweetest little guy ever so I don’t make a big deal about. I’ve wondered why though.... he intentionally flip his water bowl over every single day!!! It’s like he waits for me to fill it just so he can tump it over. & he doesn’t drink it. He plays in it. Splashes and walks around in it until he’s made himself a complete mess! He does drink water though. From my dogs water bowl lol just not from his. I don’t take away his water bowl Incase my dog drinks all hers before the cat gets him a drink of it but I just don’t know why he has an obsession with playing in water! He also jumps in the bath when I’m taking one & steps on the sink nozzle to turn it on and play in it 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️

I have a client that says her dog needs to eat only hamburger meat over any dog food. Or, you know, "I don't need heartworm prevention because we have a tall fence." I guess that means no mosquitos? If that was true, lord, the fencing companies would be making BANK, and I would totally buy one of these magical fences. Had a dog come in with a raging ear infection, but the owner said she only uses "all-natural" Burt's Bees products and we needed to tell her what OTC, non-medicated ear cleaner she needed to buy to treat the infection. Major facepalm. Man, the stories there are to tell...

I watched this video when it came out and thought "who the hell would feed their cats chicken necks?".... well tonight i read in my course notes " the incidence of tartar on cats teeth has increased markedly since the introduction of soft tinned cat food. prevention is by providing dry food in the diet with a weekly treat of chicken necks or wings to massage the teeth and gums." WTH?

Love your videos so much you’re so inspirational 💗 I’m currently training to be a vet care assistant, I was wondering in your vet practise are you allowed to wear makeup for example eyeshadow like you are wearing in this video? And also are you allowed nails like in this video? Thank you! Xx
@MissaLVT6 жыл бұрын
I'm a Licensed Veterinary Technician and yes, I'm allowed to wear makeup like Victoria wears as well as have my nails done. But while I was going through school the rule was we could have our nails done just as long as they didn't tear surgical gloves. If we tore a pair of surgical gloves with our nails we were no longer allowed to have "pretty nails". All vet clinics have different rules but at all the ones I've worked at as long as you look presentable you could wear any makeup you wanted and have your nails done.

Have you done bloodwork on your cat yet? And has your vet done a fecal analysis of the diarrhea itself? Is he an indoor only cat?
@lifewithmady45786 жыл бұрын
He is indoor and I did bring sample with me to the vet she said he prob has gastro issues and just getting worse as he gets older . Hes always had a sensitive stomach so I have to buy sensitive stomach food but it's only the last year jes been acting like this
@cdr729166 жыл бұрын
Ask your vet about running bloodwork and maybe sending out a fecal culture and starting him on probiotics. Make sure your vet knows that the issue is still going on and that you are interested in running further diagnostics and trying different treatments for him.
@emslilzoo29066 жыл бұрын
You might want to try a different vet as well, it's concerning if nothing has changed. As much as I don't usually like Royal Canin personally, you can try their i/d food line as well if your vet recommends it. I've seen improvement drastically with proper formation of feces after consuming a can or two.

The absolute worst thing I've read had to do with parvo. Obviously most of us know a puppy with possible parvo should go to a vet ASAP...that common sense doesn't apply to people in Alabama. I got into an argument with someone who swore the best parvo treatment was forcing bacon grease and bleach down the sick puppy's throat.
@elizabethemami56736 жыл бұрын
What??? That's horrible! I hope that person never gets or had a dog with parvo
@puppykisses896 жыл бұрын
We had a guy come in who had one dog die of parvo and his second dog was showing symptoms. We told him he needed to start treatment immediately, especially with a history of animals in the home being sick. We ran a parvo test, came back negative, but we explained the chance that we didn't catch the virus shedding or it wasn't a good sample. He refused care. The dog died shortly after, and apparently he had the dog re-tested at another hospital post-mortem and it came back positive for parvo. He still blames us to this day for killing his dog because "we said it was negative". I guess that's all he took away from any conversation we had with him. Thank goodness for thorough medical notes.

Bahahahahahaaaaa! Umm... I'm betting that someone's cat has been drinking out of their toilet. H-E-L-L-O!! A common factor in UTIs/FUS: Inadequate water intake. I spent $100 on a giant stainless steel water fountain for my cats. You know what's scarier than the idea that these people own pets? The idea that they are BREEDING. Yep. The next generation of pet owners. 🤐

Raw chicken necks are not bad for cats. I feed my cat and dog raw food and bones all the time and their teeth have never been cleaner. I believe a raw food diet is the optimal way for carnivores/omnivores to thrive.

@puppykisses896 жыл бұрын
Raw chicken is filled with ridiculous amounts of bacteria that can make them seriously sick. That's why people should always wash hands after handling, and not use the same cutting board for meats that you use for veggies.
