You can totally get addicted, but the very unfinished and buggy nature of the game will eventually make you take breaks. *Here are the things you can do:* - Mining (with a hand tool, with a ground vehicle or with a ship) - Salvaging (with a hand tool or with a ship) - Racing (ship racing via time trial missions, or any racing via community events like the annual Daymar Rally or just organizing stuff among your friends or org) - Player beacons (providing medical, transport or escort assistance to people who request it) - Space combat (via missions or just coming up with your own goals) - FPS combat (via missions or just coming up with your own goals) - Bounty hunting (criminal NPCs or players) - Piracy (attacking or mugging players or killing and looting NPCs) - Transport (via missions) - Trading/Hauling (buying low, loading your ship, then selling high elsewhere) - Exploration (by setting a goal to find something, whether it's interesting but not really valuable ancient alien artifacts, harvestable fruits, mineables etc...) - Search and Investigation (via missions, some of which actually have a bit of story/lore) - Events (made by the developer, we have a good 10 or so, some more frequent than others, currently there is a new event chain leading up to Invictus Launch Week which is the military in-game expo) - Arena Commander (collection of different activities you can just hop into outside of the persistent MMO universe) - Whatever you can come up with. There are several systems kept as open as possible to encourage you to do it your way, like they did a group prison break here, or like - *Citizen Kate* is making a video series where she and org mates are trying to live self-sufficiently on a big ship, or like - *SuperMacBrother* who is making a video series on living off-grid around settlements in the middle of nature, or like - *Hybrid V Audio* who is making a video series where he films people's landings as they come into spaceports and comments on them, or like - *Terada* who made low flying/formation flying videos called "Hard Flying", or - *AShogunNamedDavid* who used the game's built-in FOIP facial recognition feature to make music videos of classic songs, or like - *Zark Media* which is an in-character, in-universe news channel ....and whatever else people. It IS a dream game for roleplayers, but many bounce off the steep learning curve, high hardware requirements and myriad of bugs and problems. (I hope I didn't forget anything but if I did, drop it as a comment plz!)

So a bit of the lore for you. Klesher Rehabilitation is an automated prison that is run by Hurston Dynamics. Basically the rich asshole family of Stanton. I won't name any real life equivalents but I'm sure you can think of some. It is on a moon that has no atmosphere and has high surface temperatures which make escape extremely difficult and dangerous, in theory. In actuality, it's not too hard to escape right now lol.

Its not supposed to be particularly hard to escape, its made to hold prisoners who aren't likely to escape. Its the low security prison of stanton, and iirc there is a high security prison run by microtech that isnt in the game yet (at least thats where they are planning to have it, likely after the Pyro system is released for criminal players).

Kit, you seem as excited for Star Citizen as I was when I backed it many years ago. I too hope to be able to play it (and honestly, more excited for the single player campaign, Squadron 42, which is apparently meant as both a tutorial and an introduction to the world and universe for your actual Star Citizen character) someday, but 8 years is a very long time to wait for a preorder. I never went full doomer mode on Star Citizen, the updates they were providing were good, if not super frequent, but at my point along the way there is no hype left in me, just patience.

The game is still a tech demo, they are adding features and engine upgrades but not a ton of content yet. Over the years they've added some really cool missions but often they'll break after a year or two and not prioritize them for fixing. One of my favorites is when you get a quest to board a disabled prison transport, shoot the guards, and find the manifest so you can free the gang members. You get bonus payment if you thaw out the informant and shoot him, but you have to use clues to figure out his identity. You go through all the prisoner pods and read the actual numbers on the side to find the right guys. Very cool stuff.
