Poet and the Pendulum is the PAIN of THE Break up, this is the ANGER, focused at Marcelo, Tarja's husband and manager, I always had the impression that he was a large part of the miscommunications that led to Tarja's leaving, SO angry that the BAND wrote DEATH METAL. Floor and Tarja are good friends, as such it is said that Floor will not perform this song.

Funny thing is, Floor wouldn't need to perform this song. There are no female vocals in it. ;) Regardless, you're right. The band will NEVER play this song live. Rumor had it that there may have been a lawsuit preventing them from playing it live. Either way, Marco has also made up with Tarja as well; he has even wished her a happy birthday on his FB page.

@@athlonen There was a lawsuit issued by Tarja's husband Marcelo but it was not about this song. It was about the book written back in the day soon after Tarja was fired. The book contained some info on how Marcelo concealed the true figures of record sales in S-America (not just Nightwish's sales figures) to keep the money in this own pockets , released some illegal copies of the albums etc. So he issued a lawsuit against the author and the publisher, but the court ruling was 100% in favor of the author and publisher...

"Bye bye Beautiful" was written by Marco, "Poet & Pendulum" and "Master Passion Greed" were Tuomas' thoughts on the break-up. There is a forth song, Tarja's response, which I prefer from one of Floor's pupils from 2012, when she worked as a vocal coach before she joined Nightwish: kzbin.info/www/bejne/noG5d6uDZsxlfa8 Beware, even Floor's pupils are intriguing., not only when singing those long vocals.

This was written about the same time as The Poet And The Pendulum right after Tarja was fired. It's written against Tarja's husband about how he was bossing Tarja around. I think Tuomas was thinking her husband was ruining her career. It's hard metal and a great song. I think the woman singing in the background is on the choir track and is not Floor. I don't think they've done this song live unless it was back in 2007 sometime.

Tarja was fired from the band in 2005, this song came out in 2007 when Anette had joined the band, but she never sang this song. It was all Marko. 🇺🇸🤘🔥🤘🇺🇸

An "ode" to Marcello, Tarja's husband. The greed he had, destroyed their band. Forbidding Tarja to perform in the States, because the small venues were not bringing in enough money (small audience in the USA) not letting her travel with the guys, but needing her own tourbus, not letting her rehearse the songs with the band. He is some evil, greedy and insecure dude and you feel the anger and hate they feel towards him. This message is SO powerful, it must have been not a joke having a song like this deticated to you. I just love how they express their feelings in their music. True feelings from admiration, love to despite and hate. Bye bye beautiful is a message to Tarja herself, also angry...but not this hateful. When you listened to these songs, you understand the Poet and the pendulum even more. (you in general) Thank you

The background is them between Annete and Floor. Its called learn setlist in 48 hrs . That's how long Floor had learn the setlist for the co cert she was going to do. Marco is an amazing angry singer. This song is between Tarja and Annete. You should listen to the studio version.
