This is 1985 Dire Straights song about a dying soldier talking to his fellow soldiers during the 1982 Falklands War. This was released for the Veterans Day holiday in 2021. Home free does all kinds of songs from serious, upbeat, inspirational,Christmas, & comudic. You have just begun your journey with Home Free they have around 200 videos for you to explore. A couple recommendations you might enjoy LISTEN TO THE MUSIC a fantastic cover of the Doobie Brothers monster hit. The beatboxer is insane in this one. another is their cover of SOME GIRLS DO. This arrangement was actually written and first performed by Club for Five, a Finnish acapella group. Tim Faust got permission to use it, and Home Free added the echo effect - as well as their magnificent voices. As always, they showed great respect for the source material. I like that you can easily make out all the lyrics, which I cannot say of Dire Straits' original. Of course, this video was done in the USA for our Veterans Day (Remembrance Day to Brits and Canadians), but it really applies to any men or women who reluctantly go to war.

As has been mentioned, this is a Dire Straits song, but this particular arrangement was written by Susanna Hietala & Jouni Kannisto of Club for Five, which is an a cappella group from Finland. Tim contacted their bass singer and asked if HF could use it. They stayed very true to the Club for Five arrangement. #HomeFree

Yes, Home Free has a phenomenal range. This one is a masterpiece of harmonics and deceptively simple videography. You'd like to hear Tim do "Sound of Silence" -- so he did just that, in collaboration with Peter Hollens (on Peter's channel). It's my favorite cover of the iconic song, ever (and I was there for the original). Another Home Free masterpiece of musicality is "Helplessly Hoping". Give them a listen, and believe the diversity possible from these guys. Thank you for the respect you have for true talent and beauty.

Home Free is actually 1 of 4 Elite A Capella groups in the world today. The other 3 are Voctave, Voice Play, and Pentatonix. Pentatonix is the reason there is now A Capella in the mainstream music world today. They are the ones who broke through that wall. It was on the American broadcasting network NBC, who had a singing competition named the “Sing off” is where they began in 2011. Home Free competed on the same show 2 years later

This song was inspired by the Falklands War, which was going on when Dire Straits lead singer Mark Knopfler wrote the song. The Falklands War was a conflict between Argentina and the UK over islands off the coast of Argentina that each country claimed rights to. The islands are British territories, but in 1982 Argentina tried to reclaim one of the islands. Britain reclaimed their territories, but lost 258 soldiers in the conflict. In this song, Mark Knopfler sings about a soldier who is dying on the battlefield, surrounded by his comrades, who remain by his side as he slips away. It's a look at the folly of war and the plight of those who fight them. "We've got just one world but we live in different ones," he told the BBC. "It's just stupid, it really is. We're just foolish to take part in anybody's war."

One of my favorites of theirs. This was originally done by Dire Straits about the Falklands War in the 80’s. You heard a little bit of wind (probably Adam the beatboxer doing it). You just didn’t wind it far enough back. Also it was at the end. Yep, all the boys can sing and they all take the lead depending on the song. If you need a laugh now, try Brother. It’s also about brotherhood but funny. Home Free never disappoints. They can make you laugh or cry. Good one boys and I subscribed!🥰

For funny or upbeat you might like "The Butts Medley", "Let the Music Play", "Country Fried Pop with a guest appearance at the end by THE ROOSTER". Closer to Christmas they have some killer songs like "Do You Hear What I Hear' that will blow you away as well a collaboration with Kenny Rogers on a Christmas Gospel song that will have your hands clapping and your toes tappin' "Children Go Where I Send Thee" and many more seasonal favorites, some including a former member and founder of the group Chris Rupp (Adam Rupp, the beat boxer's brother), who retired and found Chance to take his place. They cover every genre from Opera to Blue Grass. have fun discovering the gems you will fins around every corner of the Home Free rabbit hole. 😊

Tim’s breathy bass evokes the fading spirit of a soldier dying on the battlefield. The silhouettes against the window light are deliberately ghostly, a spirit leaving this earth. Also, they mimic closely the image on the POW-MIA Remembrance flags we fly here in honor of our captured and missing military personnel, the flag shows the side silhouette of a soldier with bowed head. Home Free has a wonderful respect for military personnel and patriotic themes feature greatly in their music.

"Brothers in arms" is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard, either in the original Dire Straits' version or in this Home Free's rendition. ❤ And I believe it's also one of the most beautiful and powerful songs from Home Free. 🙂 A cappella music can have many different faces and nuances. There are groups that prefer deeply emotional songs, others that are all about fun and cartoons, others that are kinda "classical" and others that are more modern... And then there are groups lie Home Free, or Voiceplay (the two groups are friends, BTW), or The Bass Gang, that can take pretty much EVERY song and make it their own... In very different ways, and each one in its style. This is why I don't like to compare groups: they're just all GREAT, each one of its particular kind of greatness. 🙂 Home Free is one of those groups with whom you just can't fail: pick any song from their catalogue, and it will be remarkably good. 🙂 The same could be said for other groups, it all depends on your taste. 🙂 As said, I prefer not to compare and enjoy all of those groups for what they bring to the table. They're all so much better than I would achieve in 7 lives. I love all of them... Although I listen to some more than others, because of my particular taste. But one can appreciate skills and talent and dedication wherever he meets it, can't he? 🙂 I enjoyed your reaction. And I'd like to see you watch the original version by Dire Straits. 🙂 See you next time|

The arrangement of this Dire Straits song was first done by Finnish acappella group Club For Five. Home Free used it with permission. In my opinion, the Club for Five bass, Tuukka Haapaniemi, is at least the equal of the recent US acappella bassists; Tim Foust, Matt Sallee, Avi Kaplan, & Geoff Castellucci.

Great reaction! Thank for your service for your country. This cover by Home Free is hauntingly beautiful. They are so talented. They do alot of patriotic songs, songs about country and life and humanity. Land of the free, Only in America, Everybody walking this land( if you react to this play all the way through to hear the message from Tim at the end), Undivided. Just to name a few. They could sing the phone book and make it sound incredible! Thank you for your reaction! And have a great day!#HomeFree

I told you you were in for a real ride with Home Free. Their range runs the gamut, from the hokey to the holy. For the holidays, you'll have a beautiful set of masterpieces to do: their Auld Lang Syne is another 5-part harmony stunner; O Holy Night is epic. Do You Hear What I Hear, arranged by the beatboxer Adam Rupp, is ... well, indescribable ... calypso, and wild. Children, Go Where I Send Thee, a collab with Kenny Rogers, and Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, a collab with the Oak Ridge Boys, are old country gospel. And there are many other Christmas songs.

This song pays tribute to all services who have or will be in conflicts. My husband served with the Scots guards in the Falklands and was shot the day of the ceasefire. He has suffered PTSD since then and got little help from anyone. There needs to be more support for all serving soldiers, sailors and airforce and all who serve. Thank you to all who have served 🙏🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Vietnam was still an active combat are when I enlisted. They were drawing down and I was never sent there. From then for 26 years, they demanded my presence far from every war. But I knew far too many fellow warriors who fought for their brothers in arms.and never came back. My life was never at risk, but no military member lives unaware of those who give their lives. This was a tremendous video.
