I've been coating their biscuits with honey/ coconut oil mixture. And give it to them for their bed time treat. When they crunch the biscuits the mixture gets into every cranny of their teeth and gums.

When I first got my pomeranian she was 18 months old. I took her to the vet. Vet said according to how bad her teeth was she was 8 yrs old. I started brushing her teeth daily and used coconut oil. I took pics of her teeth to monitor her progress. There was so much improvement. I just recently noticed my 7 yr old male Pom is starting to get the tarter and plaque on his teeth too so now I have to come up with a game plan for HIM. He’s not as cooperative in getting his mouth messed with so I think this is gonna be fun, NOT! Btw I knew my girl was actually 18 months and not 8 yrs cuz I had her paperwork.
@alexandrakennedy8078

That really something how your Vet thought your Pom was 8 yrs by her teeth when she was really only 18 months. I wish I'd know this info years ago for my little rescue dogs. They had bad teeth and were impossible to let me clean their teeth. It was like they thought I was going to torture them or something.

@@alexandrakennedy8078 tbh I think my Willow was kept in a cage all her life and just neglected. When I first got her her paws were all splayed out like she had been in a cage all that time. Not too long after I got her she started having seizures and I’m sure they didn’t just start when I got her. So either she was so neglected that the owner never saw the seizures or she knew about them and that’s why she decided to get rid of her. I’ll never know but she’s in safe hands now. When she came to me she was shaved down to bare skin and when I asked the lady why she did that, cuz everyone knows you don’t shave Poms like that, she told me she didn’t like cleaning up all the fur she shedded a few times a year. Poms SHED! If you don’t want a dog that has all that fur and sheds get a freaking chihuahua! Can you tell I’m STILL pissed even after 2 yrs?? Willow is the sweetest dog ever, despite where she came from.

@mystikskye

@@dianasimplifies I used a toothbrush and sometimes used a rechargeable sonic toothbrush. I actually just bought a new one the other day to use on my boy. Luckily I’ve never had a problem using any kind of device like that on my dogs. I use a dremel for their nails and the only thing I have to watch out for with that is sometimes I get the fur on their paws twisted up in it but even doing that every so often doesn’t make them afraid of me using it! If you think your dog wouldn’t like the toothbrush then you could use your finger or even a qtip.

You are the most amazing vet I’ve come across. I live in Australia, and I’m a pensioner, the money we get on the pension really doesn’t allow for you to take your dog to get vet care. Our Vets are so money orientated they won’t let you pay the bill off. So your animal suffers. I know of people that have made the choice to surrender their animal to be re- homed just so they can get medical treatment. Then they become lonely and depressed because of their lose. It is so dame sad. By you doing this, you are giving people the opportunity to administer good health treatment at a low cost to the owner. So thank you for your expertise.

Same here in England. I think it’s unfair vets do not let customers pay in instalments. I found a pet insurance that is affordable although the issue is the access charge that has to be paid and it’s usually around £100.

My vet told me he doesn't brush his dogs teeth. He just takes them in and does dentals on them. His breath is awful. Maybe some of these tips will help.

@@dianasimplifiesmost medical "professionals" are indoctrinated fools and should never be trusted!Everything I've tried from vet recommendations never truly helped my dog and often made things worse! My dog is 13 and exceptionally healthy still only because I stopped trusting my vets and started being my own naturalist vet!Medical Mal practice is the 3rd LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH IN AMERICA! Also if covid didn't teach people to be skeptical then you definitely shouldn't trust any kind of medical advice or honestly any advice from people who can't see what's right in front of their face! Don't give your dogs or yourself and vaccines I stopped all of them since he was about 6 or 7 and he's been far healthier than everyone else I know who does vaccinate! If you do not be clear with your vets or for humans aswell and explicitly state NO VACCINES then they will automatically give them so be proactive and make sure they know you do not give permission for them and object to them!Feed yoyr pets once a day with high quality species specific food and only use a little kibble that is also high quality and non GMO I'd recommend gentle giants if you still want to feed kibble or need to to help transition them to an improved diet. this video was gold for me. I have a rescue who had a very bad first 3 yrs of her life, and when I got her, she did have one teeth cleaning under anesthesia. She developed a stage IV heart murmuur and mitral valve issue the next year, so unfortunately she cannot go under anesthesia for cleaning. Compared to Tula, I cannot hardly even see her teeth; that is how hard it is for me to get into her mouth. Ive tried brushing with the finger brushes, a small brush, you name it but it is like wrestling an alligator each time I brush. I am going to try these remedies of which I have most of them at the moment. Cheap alternatives as well. Thank you so much for this.

The plaque off worked for my dog with the most plaque, but results showed around six months while eating dental sticks. What really helps is chewing. My other dog is not a chewer so I’ve been mixing in some kibble in his food. He plays with his dental sticks and ignores biscuits/treats. My youngest dog had some plaque build up and it went away within the first week. She loves to chew and eats any treats (including dental) without a second thought.

Awesome, video! I'd also like to advocate for old fashioned green beans (string beans, French beans). They can be a 1 tbsp topper to raw or kibble diets and they add fiber to the diet and they melt plaque. It works on both my dogs, who hate vegetables but love green beans. I used the unsalted canned or I buy fresh or frozen and boil till cooked. then let cool and add to meals. (I don't feed pets raw vegetables due to gas and bloating.)

Raw bones will clean even bad tarter buildup if you can get an older dog to chew. May take a few times since the teeth/gums may be sensitive. If they chew and clean up some of the tarter, give them a few days and more bone and they will progress to more teeth.

@@baklash1762 it is very easy, you just sprinkle it on the food. Since you just got them cleaned, this should help prevent build up for the rest of her life! I also find adding water to the kibble or whatever you feed her will help keep the residue off their teeth. Like saltines: if you eat them dry and then the difference if you put cheese or butter on them. Hahaha, best analagy I have! Believe me with all mine I do not have time for brushing. I also let them chew things, sticks, hooves, antlers, knee caps. It also helps scrape the teeth. Good luck, I loved my cairn, very loyal and loving dogs.

So before trying that ingredient, your viewers should do more research. The coconut oil is great. The plaque powder is just 100% kelp powder, that's good too. The spray is great for dental issues too! I might buy that. I'm currently trying the Jasper 360° finger toothbrush that's 100% silicone and Radius organic pet dental gel. The gel contains coconut oil, kelp, fennel, pink salt, cinnamon, papaya, thyme... That's will naturally help their teeth and gums.

Both my dogs Do Not like their teeth touched. So both my guys get a bit of Manuka Honey (loads of antibacterial properties in it) daily which they will lick right off the spoon. They also love coconut oil, but won’t consume it off a spoon. So I dab some on the top of their paws and then they will clean/lick it off their paws.

Hi Doc, I have a question. My dog has a tooth infection and I bought a bottle of propolis extract, but it also has colloidal silver and eucalyptus. Are these ingredients safe? I intend to spray his gum with it. Thank you in advance!

I also would like to know the answer about the yeast infections in the dogs ears to please Dr, Jones. I know you mentioned if I recall it right that it could be some kind of allergies. FOOD or surroundings, lots of things to try and sort out. I have stopped feeding them food that has any peas or pea powder in there food they 3 different breeds of dogs have now less shaking of their heads and less excessive licking them selves. But I do feel that they still have some issues still with there ears and dirt, debris moist in the ears. I truly feel stopping any form of pea bi products has help. Can you suggest any other thought about the ear issues. Please. Thank you very much for your time and support and listening very appreciated. 😊🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🤟👀💖🤟👄💋🐶 BYE FOR NOW😊

How can I get coconut to the right consistency? My experience is it’s either hard or watery. I’m a believer in it’s power to keep teeth clean, as using Hello toothpaste with coconut oil means I rarely need my teeth cleaned at the dentists anymore.

Thank you so much! My sweet dog is 16 and will not let her touch her mouth or teeth!! I am going to try the syringe and green tea with unpasteurized honey. Also plan to rub her gums with coconut oil. I will out it on her chew treats and maybe she will chew it

The most important thing in our babies first year of life is proper nutrition.

@@bennyblanco2523 absolutely agree, but I am concerned about vax’s…for instance, yesterday the vet told me my 4.5# 3 mo pup should have every canine vax known to man including rabies at this age…they give the same amount of rabies vax to a Great Dane as they do a tiny puppy. Every time I get a new pup, I have to go into major research mode.

@@Hadassah0030 my personal take is avoid at all costs. As an ER vet tech I see far too many puppies coming into our clinic with seizures or other debilitating neurological issues that I'm certain stem from overvaccinaton. Also, many of these puppies are being fed age inappropriate commercial diets by unsuspecting but well meaning owners. This is a double whammy for the poor puppies
