I totally appreciate your advice! We just tried the de-scaling on our standard poodle (10 years old) with huge success! All of the tartar came off (big chunks) and we only used that little dental tool to scrape it off. We were super reluctant to put him under anesthesia for a dental cleaning, so we are extremely thankful for your video. Our dog held still and was a good sport the whole time!

Well much to my suprise it only took one day, because I noticed a huge difference in the color and inflammation and her breath the very next day. Wow! Now I am using scaling tools and a polisher one tooth at a time. I also found that Manuka Honey has great bennifits for healty gums. I am so grateful for all your videos! I will definitely try the Monostat for my girl’s frito paws and her right ear. She has the prettiest white hair on her paws and it’s all discolored from licking due to the yeast infection. I have been using apple cider vinegar on her paws for months but the smell comes back and the discoloration has never gone away. My girl Bene’ has trouble every now and then with yeast in her right ear. Shes had medicine from her Veterenarian and it takes care of it but it might come back months later. I bought an ear rinse for dogs and it’s for fungus that I will use if needed. BUT I’m going to try the Monistat for both her ear and paws along with your concoction for her teeth and gums. Thank you. I wish my veterinarian had showed me this. Obviously I know the ideal way is to bring your dog into the vet to get teeth cleaned, and I have. It cost me around $500. both times. Unfortunately, I am not always able to pay that amount ( please don't say if you can't afford to spend the money on your dog you shouldn't have him/her- there are multiple reasons that is wrong to think). Thus, my poor doggie has worse tartar than she should, but had I known what I could have done on my own her teeth would have been at least better than nothing. So, thank you, Doctor :)

Any particular brand for the dog gel toothpaste?
@abbykoop53632 жыл бұрын
Years ago I bought a pet scaling "kit". The main scaler looks more like a "hoe", which you gently put slightly above the gumline and "hook" onto the edge of the tartar and pull down, popping off the tartar. I find it works great on the dogs I've had, but cats are a bit more tricky! The kit also came with a hard plastic "bar" which rests between the teeth (on dogs, it's too big for cats) which keeps the mouth slightly open, making it a little easier to access those back teeth. I've never had to take a dog in for a dental, however, like I said, I find the cats harder to do and have had to do some dental work at the vet in the past. These days though, I can barely afford a plain vet visit, let alone any kind of treatment. 🙄

My rescue who spent her entire first year in a crate in a rescue center did not want me to touch her mouth. I stared out using (Bright triple enzyme dog toothpaste) on my finger for many months to acclimate her to me being in her mouth. After 5-6 months of doing this, she now lets me use a gentle toothbrush on her teeth. This process along with chewing beef bones (she loved these) we have no teeth or gum issues at all. I am always into prevention whenever possible. I would also use CQ 10 if needed. Co Q 10 SAVED my gums!

I just took my dog to the vet today to get his teeth scaled and polished, he had a bad reaction to the anaesthesia and had seizures going in and out. The dog is a small breed, 5 years old and definitely needed work done on his teeth it was getting red and swollen at the gum line. So yeah I find this video very helpful because if my dog needs dental work done we can't take him to the vet, just need to maintain it and do it at home.

Same with my pup, a healthy bichon who had seizures for the first time in his life after a vet visit at age 10 - I wonder if it were the medicines during the visit or the stress of the visit. He was since diagnosed with epilepsy and we're forced to put him on a maintenance drug because the threat/risk of the ongoing seizures was so bad after this visit.

Fascinated to hear of DIY dental cleaning vs choosing between (my current) impotent neglect in lieu of anesthesia/profit scam only avoided from hearing honest assessments of the practice in animal rescue circles. Also, saw a comment on partial spay/vasectomy alternatives - it is the primary disturbing aspect of animal rescue/adoption with potential health fallout from anesthesia or kidney crystal victims. Please link if there is a video on this topic...may be another 'kept in the dark' pet topic.

I used to work for a really good Vet. He was likeable and honest....however he was driven by success .... opened another clinic.....encouraged me to call clients and get them scheduled for annual vaccinations. This at the time was more acceptable. We have since learned that immunity by vaccination is not necessary every year, provided the cat or dog has had a full program of vaccinations at one time. You can test for where exactly the dog needs protection after that with a blood exam.. I am not a Vet. But I also do not want to over vaccinate my dogs and cats, and cause more harm than good. More and more, Vets are admitting that immunology is not recommended every year; without first testing to see where the animal is lacking for protection, i.e. Parvo ... then a booster would be given. Ask your Vet.... Now, I will watch D r. Jones with a tutorial on scaling my dog's teeth. Currently we are brushing and thankfully the toothpaste which is dog paste, not human toothpaste (no no no) will work to loosen tarter.......very hopeful. I really appreciate Dr. Jones.

I recently saw an adult dog without papers for an adoption fee of $1,800! Pet lovers need to pinch every penny today. Thank you for helping us. Vets can still make a living handling things we cannot do.
