Kan bara instämma.. För några år sedan spelade en kille på T-Centralens perrong och jag blev helt förhäxad och kom en halvtimme för sent till jobbet, men det var det värt! Keep up the good work!

It is fantastic to get this nice and kind critic from you! a big thank you for taking time to tell me that you like what I do ! Hope to see you somewhere one day !! good luck with your hurdy-gurdy :-) !!
@MrFair11 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know German Diaz :D As a final comment to this video: I'm currently waiting for my first hurdy gurdy (by Gotschy/Alexandra Betz) and let's just say your video makes the wait easier (nice music to listen to) and more difficult (like "I want to play a hurdy gurdy right now!") at the same time :D I also enjoy all of the other videos I find of you on KZbin, you're really a great player. Snurkullan is an amazing tune, by the way!

you should go and visit ancestore.eu - Michalina, Eluveities Gurdy Player opened a store and the Gurdies prices are quite okay!
@NicholasKonradsen4 жыл бұрын
they aren't. you get what you pay for when you're in the 1000 euros and higher range. But the higher you get, the cheaper it is. this is one of the most mechanically demanding musical instruments that exist, so the ones that seem crazy expensive are actually usually underpriced when you consider the time it takes to make one.

Hi there, I keep returning to this video too for the same reasons. And I have a Phoenix Ultra by Gotschy/Betz. It has taken me a while to get it set up how I want it, but it's pretty good! I have a video on my channel (just improvising -so much to learn), but there is information on how I have set it up there). Johannes, we met for a few seconds at Chateau d'Ars last year and I think you know my friend Anna Rheingans... :)

Really great playing! To be honest, I'm watching this video quite a lot at the moment, since I really enjoy it. Like the different dynamics you use and the little variations over the melody. Your trumpet playing is also amazing. By the way, do you know the name of this polska?

What is the time signature of the first part?
@MrFair10 жыл бұрын
The whole tune is basically in 3/4, but it has its peculiarities. It's a Swedish polska (a type of dance). Polskas have the accents on the 1 and the 3. Furthermore, this is a special type of polska were the first beat is shortened and the two is a bit elongated. You can't really notate it. Some people write tunes like this down in 9/8 or even 9/16 (with a subdivision of 2+4+3), but this doesn't really reflect the rhythm correctly. It's somewhere inbetween. The easiest way, in my opinion, is just to think of it as a 3/4 and tap the 1 and the 3 with your foot.
@GrootsieTheDog10 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes, that's what I thought. It seems there are some phrasing changes though. It's not consistent. Possibly an extra beat here and there because it doesn't always come back down on the one - unlike the second half which is consistently three and the phrasing fits into the meter.

What key is your hurdy gurdy tuned to?
@JohannesGeworkianHellman7 жыл бұрын
The open strings for melodies are C, G and c. I use capos for different drones.. Here in A.. :)
